Eva Longoria Makeup Malfunction!

Eva Longoria hit the town with buddy Kevin Connelly apparently unaware of her makeup malfunction. The 35-year-old  evidently had difficulty applying her concealer  leaving a bright white under eye stripe.

Spotted leaving the Japanese restaurant Katsuya in Hollywood, Eva and Kevin seemed chipper and not bothered at all by her makeup mess up.

Retinol Q&A with Dr. Ranella Hirsch

When it comes to fine lines and aging, dermatologists agree that Retinol is one of the most effective ingredients on the market. Here, Dr. Ranella Hirsch, noted Boston dermatologist, fills us in on Retinols.
Question: How long does it generally take to see results from a Retinol product?
Dr. Hirsch: Every person is different but typically we advise that patients give a minimum of 8-12 weeks before deciding if something is not working. Vitamin A derivatives, of which Retinol is an example, are designed to be long-term solutions. The longer you use it, the better, so the imperative is to stick with the regimen and give it a chance to work.

Question: As a dermatologist, what is the number one reason patients don’t stick with their Retinol regimen?
Dr. Hirsch: Irritation. Unlike many other creams used for the skin, e.g. moisturizers which are best “slathered on,” the skin is extremely capable of absorbing Vitamin A products and thus needs only a very little bit applied. A tendency to utilize too much is often what results in irritation. A little bit used over time yields the best outcomes.

Question: What are the benefits of using a Retinol product that also contains hyaluronic acid?
Dr. Hirsch: Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, or a product that attracts water to the skin. Its effects allow for rapid improvement (albeit shorter lasting) in the appearance of fine lines, especially around the eyes where skin is very thin. It is a great ingredient to seek out when you want to improve the appearance around the eye rapidly.

It’s Official: Blake Lively and Chanel Collaboration

From ElleUK:

Chanel has confirmed that the star of it’s next ad campaigns will be Blake Lively.

It’s been something of an open secret for a month now but now we can officially confirm that Gossip Girl star Blake Lively has been picked by Karl Lagerfeld to be the new Chanel ambassador.

Lively is set to star in ads for the new Mademoiselle bag, and the pictures, which will be unveiled in April, have already been snapped. The actress-turned-model got to pose on the iconic staircase in Coco Chanel’s Rue du Cambon studio – and, according to WWD, she was pretty thrilled by the whole experience. ‘How did Cinderella feel when she slipped on the glass slipper? How did Snow White feel when she met her Prince Charming?,’ she gushed. ‘Dream come true is an understatement. I can say that I feel like the happiest, luckiest girl around.’

Blake’s appointment hasn’t come as a great surprise – ever since she was first spotted front row at the Chanel couture show early last year, she and Karl have struck up a friendship, and she’s also been spotted in an impresesive line-up of the label’s dresses. What with this and her friendship with Christian Louboutin, we could find ourselves getting quite envious of the lucky Miss Lively…
