Dimple Plasty?!?!

While there are no numbers on how many are performed annually, dimple-plasties are an increasingly talked-about trend on consumer sites and beauty forums, hen it comes to beauty, many are anxious to obtain the latest Hollywood trend – from haircuts to clothes – to the more extreme like Angelina’s pouty lips or Julia’s famous smile. Now, the latest trend involves an adorable pair of dimples. Thought of by many as the quintessential “cute” facial feature, there is a growing trend of people seeking the procedure from plastic surgeons to add dimples to their cheeks. Known as dimple-plasty, this cosmetic procedure (ranging from $2,000 – $5,000) involves a tiny incision in the cheek and is done under local anesthesia, taking less than an hour.

Dr. Michael Salzhauer is a board certified Bal Harbour, Florida Plastic Surgeon shares about dimple plasty.

He says that, “plastic surgery dimples can be fairly easily created under local anesthesia. The plastic surgeon will make an incision inside the mouth on the inner surface of the cheeks. A small depression will then be created in the cheek muscles and bucosal tissues. Internal stitches may be used to suture the dimple divot in place and external stitches will be used to close the incision inside the mouth.” If the patient desires a large dimple, punch tissue excision may be used to completely remove a portion of the cheek muscle and create a deeper dimple. The entire dimple creation surgery generally lasts less than one hour.

What are the Risks of Dimple Creation?

According to Dr. Salzhauer, “most patients will not require general anesthesia and will only need local numbing of the mouth tissue with an injectable anesthetic such as lidocaine. Use of local anesthesia limits risks of any plastic surgery. As with any type of cosmetic surgery, there is a risk of infection. This risk may be minimized by following post operative instructions that are given following the creation of dimples. There will also be some swelling, bruising and pain which are generally mild to moderate and localized within the cheek tissue.”

What Will the Dimples Look Like?

Initially, the dimples that have been created will be present all of the time. After a few weeks, depending on the depth of the dimple creation, the cheeks may flatten out some and the new dimples will only be seen when smiling. This is because the cheek muscles will heal and close the depression somewhat but will contract more at the site of the dimple, creating a natural looking result as if one had been born with dimples.

Marion Cotillard looks stunning in new Dior ad!

Oscar winner Marion Cotillard looks gorgeous in her newest ad for Lady Dior.

The ad, which was shot several months ago in Paris, doesn’t show her baby bump! The actress is pregnant with her first child.

The ad was shot in Russia’s Red Square according to WWD. She posed on a credenza holding an iconic red tweed Dior bag. St. Basil’s Cathedral can be seen in the background.

In previous campaign ads — she’s been the face of the line since 2008 — the actress has posed atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris, taken Shanghai, and played a woman living a double life in a three-part, femme fatale-inspired photo shoot. The newest campaign will hit fashion magazines in May and June.

See Jennifer Lopez’s new Tous Jewelry ads!

Jennifer Lopez is the new face of Tous Jewelry. The American Idol judge models a variety of ethnic gear adorned with sparkling jewels. The photos, which were given to Style Watch, are part of a series she shot for the 90-year-old Spanish company.

Lopez was announced as the new face of Tous last month, chosen for her genuineness and charisma, according to the line’s president, Salvador Tous. “[She’s] a great illustration of our brand.” (Kylie Minogue previously modeled for the company.) The singer-actress obviously had a lot of fun in her new role, too; some outtakes depict a beaming Lopez with her arm around Madame Tous, who helps design the gems. Many of the pieces Lopez sports in her photos (including the brand’s iconic bears) are available on tous-shop.com now — perhaps we’ll see her wearing some on Idol soon?
