Harper’s Bazaar and Estee Lauder are looking for fabulous women!

Are you a twenty-something trendsetter, playing up your flirty thirties, fashionable forties and fifties, or perhaps you are a sixty-something style connoisseur? If the answer is yes, Harper’s Bazaar and Estée Lauder are looking for you. The two brands have teamed up to find five of America’s chicest women, ages 20-60+, in the second-annual Fabulous at Every Age search, inspired by one of the magazine’s most popular features which transforms trends into great, age-appropriate looks, highlighting the distinctive personal style of the world’s most revered fashion icons.

To enter the contest, readers can nominate themselves or other fabulous women at www.harpersbazaar.com/fabcontest or at all-day casting calls at select Estée Lauder counters at Saks Fifth Avenue stores. Five finalists, each representing a decade between 20 and 60+, will receive a $5,000 cash prize and be honored at a VIP party hosted by Estée Lauder Spokesmodel Elizabeth Hurley at Hearst Tower in New York City on April 12. One grand prize winner will be selected from the finalists and receive an additional cash prize of $5,000.

“At Harper’s Bazaar, we celebrate women who are fabulous at every age, because great style is timeless,” said editor in chief Glenda Bailey. “We are thrilled to spotlight our fashionable readers.”

Estée Lauder is celebrating the search with a limited-edition Fabulous at Every Age lipstick and gloss, Estée Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in Bitten Fig (suggested retail, $24) and Estée Lauder Pure Color Gloss in Red Tango (suggested retail, $20), two stunning shades flattering for every age, available for a limited time exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue stores nationwide, as well as on Saks.com and EsteeLauder.com. A chic, white zippered carrying case is available at select Saks locations with the purchase of a Fabulous at Every Age limited-edition lipstick or gloss.

Estée Lauder is delighted to partner with Harper’s Bazaar for the second year of the Fabulous at Every Age contest,” said Nancy McKay, Senior Vice President, Estée Lauder, North America. “We love women at every age and are excited to see all of the amazing entries that are sure to come in.”

Hair Extensions: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly!

Master Hair Stylist Amoy Pitters, Owner of Amoy Couture Hair Says Extensions ‘Make the Cut’ this Season

Long, silky hair. Straight or wavy hair. Kinky, curly, bold, beautiful hair. If you weren’t born with it, or you want way more than you have now, hair extensions can help you pick up where Mother Nature left off. The “hot” trend in the hair and fashion industry continues to be hair extensions due to their versatility and immediate results. Celebrities like Eva Longoria, Beyonce and Jessica Simpson are known to drastically alter their hair styles and hues overnight.

“As more stars and celebrities begin to experiment with new hairstyles, hair weaves have become even more ubiquitous. Like hair coloring, a hair weave is a relatively easy and non-invasive way to change your appearance,” says Amoy Pitters, master hair stylist & owner of Manhattan based salon Amoy Couture Hair. Women have been using hair extensions (weaves) to enhance the natural beauty and uniqueness of their hair. Amoy continues, “Extensions have been long thought of as only for the rich and famous; however this is no longer the case. New technology and consumer education is driving cost down while at the same time, increasing the quality of products that are now available.” Obviously fashion models use hair extensions quite often, both personally and professionally. Amoy is one of the go- to stylists for fashion models.

According to Amoy, if you are considering adding extensions to your natural hair, it is very important to explore your options to understand the effects each technique will have on your hair and how natural it looks. For example, for shorter hair, it’s best to sew in extensions to attain an even flow of layers. For longer locks, Amoy would recommend fusion or micro link weaves to add fullness and texture. All of these options depend on the style each is going for and one’s budget. Additionally, it’s important to consider necessary precautions to minimize the risks of damaging your natural hair and scalp.

Ashley Tisdale shows some overly tanned skin at last night’s People’s Choice Awards!

‘Hellcats’ star Ashley Tisdale showed up at the 2011 People’s Choice Awards last night looking orange! Did she do this on purpose? Is this the work of a tanning bed – or spray? Either way – I’m not a fan. She looks like a member of the ‘Jersey Shore’!

Despite her skin color, I love her Farah Angsana dress!

Tisdale, whose CW series was nominated for Best New TV Drama, virtually blended in with her printed floor-length gown due to her complexion.

With her dark brown locks pulled into a loose chignon, which paired perfectly with her flowy strapless dress, the former Disney diva could have been a blue carpet hit had she only taken the tanning down a notch.

In addition to ‘Hellcats,’ Tisdale is at work on ‘Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure,’ where she plays an actress whose dog finds more acting gigs than she does.
