Katie Holmes graces the cover of Elle Magazine, looks stunning!

Katie Holmes looks gorgeous in February’s Elle Magazine. In the magazine she opens up about her upcoming role as Jackie Kennedy.

On preparing for her role by reviewing old footage of the Kennedys, with the help of her husband, Tom Cruise: “[Tom] watched everything with me; he found it fascinating.”

On working hard to perfect her role as the former first lady: “I worked as hard as I could, because I loved her. On set there was this feeling that we had to create something very special, because these people were very special.”

On playing such a complex role: “[The Kennedys] were like movie stars. There was such a professionalism to their public image.”

On admiring Jackie Kennedy’s strength: “I didn’t realize that she had lost a child in August and then [Jack] was assassinated in November. I couldn’t believe it. She had so much strength….I loved her love of family, how important it was for her to be a good mother.”

On the design process: “I have such an appreciation for the fine details and the amount of work it takes. I really appreciate clothing and designers so much more. It’s made shopping even better.”

On Suri’s shopping style: “The other day we came out of a store, and she said, ‘I want to go there,’ pointing at another store quite a distance away. In that store was the dress that she wanted. I said, ‘Wow, Suri. You’re something. You picked that out from a football field away.’”

On getting fashion advice from Suri: “She’ll really tell me [what she thinks]. Like today I’m wearing brown suede pants, and she said, ‘I don’t like your pants.’ But then she’ll say, ‘You’ve got to wear these shoes.’ Or ‘That’s so pretty, Mom. Wear that.’ She’s got a great eye.”

On decorating: “I like to create a nice table. I love roses and orchids and French tulips and berries, and then a lot of things that are just pretty and I have no idea what their names are.”

On not letting the attention from the paparazzi get to her: “I don’t worry so much. It is what it is, and it’s fine. I’ll go somewhere because I need to get something done.”

It’s a New Year … Get Into the Nude

Going au natural is more popular than ever, and not just natural ingredients. Muted, natural looking colors can be seen throughout this very New Year from nude platform pumps to “greige” nails and everything in between. This new color palette boasts shades of tan, camel, cement, clay, stone and many other muted tones in between giving the traditional Roy G. Biv a run for its money.

Rihanna Starts Making Scents!

Reb’l Fleur, Rihanna’s debut fragrance, will be available to the smelly public at large beginning Jan. 25.

The scent, incidentally, shares a name with a tattoo the pop superstar bears on her neck, though which came first is still up for debate.

As for the perfume, which came about thanks to a deal brokered by new manager Jay-Z, it’s being curiously described as “like heels with a short, flirty dress.” (The bottle itself is in the shape of a high heel.) So what does a short, flirty dress smell like? A fruity mix of red berries, plum, peach, coconut water, violet and Hawaiian hibiscus, in reflection of Rihanna’s tropical roots. Obviously.

Reb’l Fleur will first be available only at Macys (for $49 per pop of the pop star), going on to roll out internationally later this spring.

Beauty Tips from Prevention Mag!

Don’t sacrifice your beauty because of cold weather! Bone-dry hands and chapped lips are all too frequent this time of year, but Prevention magazine has the solutions. Our editors developed three easy steps to follow in keeping hands smooth and ready to hold and found their favorite long-wear lipstick that will moisten your lips without drying them out.

And don’t forget about those eyes, especially when wanting to brighten up your dull looking skin during the winter months. Prevention has created a list of the season’s inventive new mascaras that will fulfill your lash fantasies.

FABULOUS FALSIES
Skip full lash strips and opt for shorter sections applied just to the outer corners. We like:
· Kre-at Beauty Half Lash Short ($15; kreatbeauty.com)

MASCARA MISDEMEANORS
Applying only at the tips.
· Start each stroke at the very roots of lashes says. If you coat the tips only, you won’t get as much length and you’ll weigh down the curl

Overdoing it on bottom lashes.
· You want to tint lower lashes, not add length or volume says Ahnert unnatural. Try:
o Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara ($10; clinique.com)

Leaving it on overnight.
· Sleeping in mascara causes lashes to dry out and break. Keep towelettes approved for the eye area, such as:
o Garnier The Refreshing Remover Cleansing Towelettes ($6; drugstores)
