SEE IT HERE! Blake Lively debuts Chanel ad!!

Blake Lively is the new face of Chanel, and here we have our first look at her debut ad!

WWD had a chance to ask the actress how she got into fashion to begin with.

Her mother, Elaine, was a fashion model who fronted a Hanes campaign and teamed up with her daughter to make dresses. “We’d always go down to the garment district with my father. We would go to really cool vintage stores or boutiques and we’d get a bunch of clothes and we’d sew a lot,” Lively recalls.

Yet the actress says she has no ambitions to jump into the melee with a project of her own.

“I have such a respect for fashion and such an appreciation for it that if there are people like Karl Lagerfeld out there designing, who am I?” she asks. “I want to bow down to them and be a representative for them if they’ll have me.”

She also told NY Times that she was always holding out for Chanel.

“I had other opportunities and I would say, ‘Thank you so much, but I am holding out for Chanel.’ That’s who I want to be the face of. And people would say, ‘Well, that’s unrealistic, they only hire Europeans,’ and I said: ‘Well, how great. I’ll be the first then.’”

I think she’s gorgeous. Do you think she’ll make a good Chanel model?

Baby Fever Hits Hollywood

There seems to be baby fever in Tinseltown these days with celebrities like Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba, and Natalie Portman expecting special deliveries later this year. Well, before these mommies-to-be (and all other pregnant women out there) hear the pitter-patter of little feet, they should make sure to take the time to indulge themselves. Helen Ambrosen, LUSH product creator and mother of two, recommends these pre-natal products to do just that:

Therapy Massage Bar ($9.95) – ladies, take advantage of your significant other’s  hands while you have the chance and make them rub you from head to toe with this certified organic moisturizing bar. And don’t forget to massage Therapy on your bump to help prevent stretch marks. The cocoa and shea butter mix with neroli oil to moisturize dry skin and improve its flexibility and elasticity.

Butterball Bath Bomb ($4.95) – a celeb favorite (knocked up or not), this bath bomb is loaded with creamy cocoa butter to moisturize and calming ylang ylang. So, turn out the lights, put on some soothing tunes, fill the tub with warm water and toss in Butterball for a relaxing bath after a long day.

Herbalism Facial Cleanser ($13 for ¼ lb) – with pregnancy comes hormones…and lots of them. Attack acne (one side effect) by using this cleanser made with kaolin clay, ground almonds, stimulating rosemary, dirty defying nettle powder, and soothing chamomile.

Henna ($22.95) – since hair cannot be chemically colored during the first trimester, grab one of LUSH’s hair hennas. With four colors to choose from, our henna (sourced from Iran) is mixed with other natural ingredients like coffee and fresh lemon juice to naturally add color to hair.

Lip Smackdown: Stick vs. Gloss

The female population is divided between gloss lovers and lipstick devotees. That is, until now where advances in formulations will make you want to swing both ways! The editors of Women’s Health magazine break down which type you should swipe on.

Where to Wear It:

Lipstick: Whenever you want to look put together- evening, work, etc.

Gloss: On weekends or nights out; whenever you want to focus on eye-makeup. You don’t want to look too done up.

Pout Perks:

Lipstick: Precise application ensures that your mouth looks defined and lips become less pronounced.

Gloss: Tricks lips into looking fuller and more voluptuous, by applying a dab of clear gloss on the center of your bottom lip.

Durability:

Lipstick: On average, it only stays put for about 2 hours. Variables such as the steam in coffee or grease in potato chips shorten the time span. Different breeds are now evolving which contain polymers that build a top-coat and will fight to keep it from wearing off.

Gloss: The lifespan is very brief so try one that look like a lip pencil, but also give off a glaze like traditional gloss. To help with color, try moisturizing with Shea butter before applying gloss.
