Want to copy the coveted hairstyles of the 2011 American Music Award nominees? With a little help from göt2b hair stylers and celebrity stylist Larry Sims, you’ll be on your way to a rockin’ ‘do in no time. Below, Sims predicts the red carpet looks of Katy Perry, Adele and Rihanna and gives step-by-step tips on how to achieve each look at home!
“Katy Perry’s look has always been daring and fun with a classy edge to it,” says Sims. He predicts she’ll rock glamorous, old Hollywood waves (in her now signature pink hair, of course!). To achieve Katy’s flawless waves, Sims suggests “curling hair with a ¼ inch curling iron barrel, wrapping strands downward from root-to-tip, section-by-section.” After hair has been set, Sims recommends “brushing strands downward to loosen up the wave before locking in the style with göt2b rockin’ it encore hold hairspray.
“Adele typically shows up to red carpet events with her signature beehive,” says Sims. This Sunday, he predicts Adele will flaunt loose curls and tons of volume. To achieve Adele’s luscious locks, Sims recommends “curling hair with an extra-large curling iron barrel, wrapping hair section-by-section in opposite directions away from the face.” Once hair has been set, “sprinkle göt2b POWDER’ful volumizing styling powder directly onto roots, focusing on the crown. Then, toss your head over, massaging the powder deeper into your roots with your fingertips,” he adds. Toss your head back over and voila!
Over the past year, Rihanna has gone from black bob to red curls and back again! “This year, I predict Rihanna showing up with hair that will be fused with wheat and blonde, whose style will resemble Bridget Bardot’s sexy side-swept locks,” says Sims. To achieve this look, Sims suggests prepping hair with the göt2b fat-tastic dry shampoo to absorb oil and give limp strands “incredible volume that will last all night long.” Next, he recommends setting hair with jumbo-size hot rollers. “Once hair has been set, use your fingertips to break up the texture while keeping your side fringe heavy at the brow of your face.” Lastly, spray the finished look with göt2b rockin’ it encore hold hairspray.
göt2b hair stylers retail for $5.99 at Wal-mart, Drugstores (Walgreens, CVS and Rite-Aid), Ulta and food retailers nationwide.
My one year old loves to watch me put on makeup. Problem is when he gets his hands on any beauty product he tries to decorate his own face. I found my favorite lipstick (MAC Hot Tahiti) had been toddlerized he dug his little finger down the middle and hollowed it out.
This is not the first time one of my kids has eaten a lipstick or emptied a can of shaving cream playing in the foam. What your child or pet got into?
Amy Adams is InStyle’s December girl. Amy is promoting her new movie, ‘The Muppets’. I love Amy Adams. She’s one of my favorite celebrity moms. She’s just so cute and down to earth! She looks like she actually takes care of her kids herself, doesn’t walk to the park with the nanny…but I could be wrong.
Balancing her career, her engagement and motherood: “I have to trust that I can prioritize my family and myself while still finding the energy and focus for my work. And I believe I can. I know I can.”
Losing the pregnancy weight: “I read about these actresses who get on a stationary bike two weeks after giving birth and I’m like, ‘What? Where did you push your baby out of?’ Since having Aviana, I have a muffin top, and that’s okay right now.”
Motherhood: For Adams, motherhood has meant forgoing the makeup, putting off the pampering, and embracing the dried cereal all over her car. Fortunately, she adds, it has all paid off in the long run. “I’m definitely not one of those women who make it look easy. I’m always running late — and look, there’s guacamole on my purse! But I’m more patient than I ever thought I would be, and I’m not so hard on myself anymore.”
She will marry Darren Le Gallo: They have yet to tie the knot, the couple — who divide household duties between themselves; Adams does laundry while he washes bottles — admit the nuptials are likely to be sooner rather than later. “I’ll say to Darren, ‘What do you think of May?’ and he’ll say, ‘May. Ha, ha. You just let me know.’ I just can’t decide!” she laughs, despite her opinion that marriage is not “the only way to sustain a relationship. I am putting more pressure on myself now that we have Avi. I’ll figure it out soon.”
Date nights: “[They include] a lot of food and maybe a glass of wine,” she reveals. “We’re always like, ‘It’s 11:30! Woo-hoo! We’re crazy!’”
Defining herself: “There’s danger in defining your identity. I accept that life is a series of transitions. You think you know who you are, but then something comes along to make you question everything.”
Keeping clothes from her movies: “I do have a pair of gorgeous Christian Louboutins that I wore in Leap Year. They’re stored in their little dust covers in a box in my closet.”
