Mad Men’s Mesmerizing Makeup!

The buzz around AMC’s Mad Men, winner of three consecutive Golden Globes and back-to-back Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series, is never-ending. The dramatic, award-winning series set in New York during the 1960’s features classic, stylized, and flawless looks that have influenced many to create modern takes on timeless classics—even inspiring a new Banana Republic clothing line!

Lana Horochowski, the head makeup artist for Mad Men, uses Koh Gen Do to create a classic look and 60’s feel on Elisabeth Moss, January Jones, and Christina Hendricks.

Lana says, “I am obsessed with the Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation. It creates a flawless canvas on all ages and skin types. I love its durability on set and that after an 18 hour shoot day my actors never complain about their makeup feeling too heavy or cakey.”

Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation ($62) is a high-definition foundation that fully moisturizes and covers imperfections for satin-smooth looking skin. The unique Strobe Illuminator formula minimizes pores and imperfections for a flaw-less and even look.

Koh Gen Do products are available online at www.kohgendocosmetics.com or at any Barneys New York location.

Jennifer Lawrence Recycled Cover Shot for IO Donna.

Jennifer Lawrence’s cover on the March issue of Italy’s IO Magazine is from a photo shoot she did for the Canadian Flare magazine in June 2011.  What do you think about magazine reusing cover photos?

The 21-year-old actress  posed for Max Abadian and opened up to IO Magazine about topics such as being discovered at age 14 and where she sees herself a few years from now:

On whether she feels ready for this big change:
“Yes, I’m ready, but also terrified. But then how do you feel ready for something you do not know? I … I’m afraid.”

On being discovered:
“By pure chance. I was 14, I was in New York with my mother, standing on the sidewalk watching a rap-dancer, when a guy with a camera comes up and asks permission to take a picture. ‘Why not?’ my mother says, amused … In New York anything can happen. After a week I got a call at home and was asked to make a commercial. In short, I became a model, but without much enthusiasm. My agent, however, was always there, hammering: ‘Would you rather be a successful model or actress who is starving?’ For goodness sake, I have not had a moment’s hesitation.”

On the runaway success of the ‘Hunger Games’ trilogy:
“We live in a world obsessed with reality shows, we use the personal tragedies to entertain the audience and we want to shock people to succeed.”

On where she sees herself in a few years:
“With a family and many children. Acting is my job, but it is only a small part of my life, certainly not the most important. What really counts for me is to build lasting bonds.”

Mischa Barton Launches Fashion & Beauty Line!

Not sure I ever wanted to take a page from Micha’s style book but for those of you who hankering for the Barton look you are in luck. With prices ranging from $55 for a Ruffle Tee to the $200 Annie Ragamuffin dress or get crazy and splurge for the $350 Aspen Waistcoat . She is also launching a cosmetic and body line with everything from body lotion to lipstick.

Mischa Barton hasn’t exactly been heralded by the fashion elite over the years, but that’s not going to stop her from sharing her, um, unique sartorial sense with the world.

That’s right, due to popular demand the erstwhile O.C. actress had gone and launched not only her own clothing line, but her own e-tail site as well.

Ladies and gentlemen, we give you Mischa’s Place…

Says the British-born starlet: “Together with the help of my Mum Nuala, my inspirations are brought to life using elements of my personal style. Our Collection has grown and developed to reflect the consumer and myself over the seasons, whilst maintaining a consistent theme.

“I hope you enjoy my designs and have as much fun wearing them as I did designing them!”

We’ll give her this: Mischa left no consumer stone unturned. Or unbranded, for that matter. It’s not just clothes and accessories up for sale on the stylista’s site, but Mischa Barton-branded lotions, body butters, soaps, candles and an entire makeup line.

And she’s not stopping there. While the site delivers to the U.S., U.K., Canada, France, Spain, Sweden and Germany right now, there are rumors afoot that Barton has plans to open up a brick-and-mortar store in London later this year.
