Beth Ditto MAC Collaboration Set For June

Beth Ditto is ready to make her mark.

The Gossip singer, who has been happily embraced by the fashion industry despite her decidedly non-fashion size, is signing on with MAC Cosmetics for a limited edition collaboration. Women’s Wear Daily reports that Ditto, who often boasts her own bold eye makeup, will create signature products to hit MAC stores and counters in June.

Ditto has also formed a positive connection with MAC, even performing at the brand’s New York store on Fashion’s Night Out in 2011. Now, like Daphne Guinness and Iris Apfel before her, Ditto will lend her name and distinctive style to MAC.

No word yet on specific products, but we’re guessing there will be some dark eyeliner and awesome colored eyeshadow involved.

Makers of the Brazilian Blowout forced by the FDA to admit their product causes cancer!

I just read this article on Brazilian Blowout, and it floored me! I had to pass along the information. If you or someone you know has done this – pass it along!

Last year, Brazilian Blowout–a popular Brazilian keratin straightening treatments currently offered at salons–was under fire from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (F.D.A.) for containing “dangerous levels” of formaldehyde in its product, despite the fact that its label claimed it was “Formaldehyde Free.” Since then, the company denied the claims and stood by their labeling. But now, it seems they have had a change of heart and have agreed to alert consumers that two of its products emit formaldehyde gas, a possible carcinogen. How nice of them to finally let us know that our quest for straight hair was so toxic.

The labeling changes are designed to settle a lawsuit that was filed in California last November, when the attorney general’s office accused the Hollywood-based company of deceptive advertising. Not only did their labeling state the product was free of formaldehyde, which can irritate the eyes, skin and lungs, but it was found to have anywhere from 8.7 to 10.4% formaldehyde, which is multiple times that of the 0.2 percentage that peer-reviewed Cosmetic Ingredient Review board considers safe for consumers.

California’s Attorney General, Kamala Harris, said in a statement:
“California laws protect consumers and workers and give them fair notice about the health risks associated with the products they use. This settlement requires the company to disclose any hazard so that Californians can make informed choices.”

To which Brazilian Blowout is responding by paying a whopping $600,000 in penalties and fines for failing to notify consumers and hair stylists that its products contain chemicals that may cause cancer. They have also agreed to have their products tested for all toxic substances at a state-approved lab, and include proper labeling on their products alerting consumers of the formaldehyde content–which, of course, most salons already suspected anyway.

Not that this changes anything with the product. Brazilian Blowout is continuing to manufacture and sell the same formula. The only difference is that now consumers should know better than to buy it.

Not sold? Here’s another scathing article from the NY Times.

Meet the Model with a 20 inch waist.

We’ve talked super-skinny models before, but Ioana Spangenberg definitely takes the conversation to a whole ‘nother level. Check out her story–and weigh in with your thoughts–after the jump.

At 20 inches, Ioana Spangenberg’s waist is just five inches bigger than a compact disc. She was profiled in The Sun UK recently, where they shared that the 30-year-old Romanian model eats three square meals a day (including indulgences like pizza and kebabs) and simply can’t gain weight around her midsection. “I just have a small stomach,” she told the paper. “It’s a bit like having a natural gastric band — if I eat too much, I feel sick.”

She had been self-conscious about her body her entire life, but when she met her now-husband, “Jan was the first person who saw me as beautiful and encouraged me to celebrate my body. He asked me to pose in some photos for him.” He put the photos up online, and the response was good enough that it eventually propelled her into professional modeling.

What do you think?

New Year, New You!

I really can’t say enough good things about Mama Mio products, for how much I sing their praise people probably think I have stock in the company. I have used their products in the past and am always pleasantly surprised when each product does EXACTLY what it promises. No the products aren’t cheap but they work amazingly well and for what you get out of each tube from Mama Mio you will feel like you got a steal.

I had the chance to review the Bootcamp for Boobs kit and was excited to see what it could do. Now my boobs have survived breast feeding 3 kids and the weight gain associated with such miracles. As I have been losing the weight from my last pregnancy (ok so he just turned 2 these things take time, right?) my boobs had become deflated and crepey  not a pretty site.

With the first week of my Bootcamp for Boobs I noticed the crepey look of my boobs had all but dissappeared. Now in the middle of my third week I have noticed an amazing transformation my boobs are back up where they were meant to be. I threw on a tank top for bed last night and noticed my boobs looked good even without a bra. I was so excited I had to run and show my husband “look at my boobs, they are back”! He seemed a bit puzzled probably wondering where they had been. I am so thrilled by the results my skin feels and looks so much better and you can’t help but feel more confident when your girls are perky!
