Quality dental care can be expensive. During tight economic times, it is even more of a stretch as people’s mindsets become conservative and budgets become leaner.

How do you ensure that your teeth remain healthy and your dental visits don’t break the bank?

Don’t Skip your Cleaning!

Recessionista-chic includes taking care of your teeth. Cleaning is great example of an inexpensive treatment that prevents problems from developing. Many patients will put off cleanings and let problems develop into more costly problems. For example, if a patient has a small cavity (cost: $400 for a filling) and allows it to grow, it could easily become a tooth needing a root canal and crown (roughly $3,000 procedure).

Yes, Over-the-Counter Does Work

Some over the counter whitening treatments are relatively effective. The most effective whitening is an in-office whitening treatment, but if a patient simply needs to whiten their teeth only a few shades, Crest White Strips and Listerine Whitening Rinse are two good over the counter products.

Floss, Floss and…Floss

Flossing removes the bacteria that escape the toothbrush by hiding in the tiny spaces in between teeth. Brushing without flossing is like washing only 65% of your body. The other 35% remains dirty!

Put your Money Where Your Mouth Is: Payment Plans are a Great Option

For cosmetic dentistry procedures, such as teeth whitening, or porcelain veneers, payment plans are often tremendously useful. Care Credit is a GE company that gives 12 month interest free loans to people that are interested in dental procedures. This allows patients to space out payments and not pay large sums of upfront money for dental work.

I recently tried these two Oscar Blandi products, and I almost wish I hadn’t.  Now that I know how amazing they are - I will always have to have them on hand!  Both of these products are unbelievably awesome.  My hair has never felt so good!  Soft, and shiny - I didn’t even need to use product after using these!

First: Luce
Luce is a rinse-out gloss for both chemically treated and virgin hair, exclusively designed to lock in pigment added to restore shine. To use: Shampoo and condition hair with appropriate Oscar Blandi products for your hair type. Towel dry hair. Apply Luce evenly throughout hair, cover with Oscar Blandi’s shower cap, Cuffia Per Doccia. Leave on for 3 to 5 minutes. Rinse with mild water.

PS: I didn’t have a shower cap, and it still worked amazing!
