Scarlett Johansson in Glamour Magazine, November 2009

scarlett_glamour_nov.jpg

Scarlett Johansson on her body image:

“There was this rumor mill cranking out stories that I had lost 14 pounds—I could never lose 14 pounds…I hate seeing these ridiculous articles where [tabloids] guess someone’s weight…I can’t look at somebody who is 6 feet tall and 120 pounds and say, I’m going to get that body. That’s just never going to happen. You have to work with what you’ve got.”

Scarlett on getting married:

“I never really thought about getting married—it just kind of happened…You hope that a relationship makes you better, that you learn things about yourself…I feel more confident to explore things within myself that I hadn’t thought about in the past.”

Scarlett on the red carpet:

“I have a tumultuous relationship with it because I love to get ready for the red carpet, but being on it is very uncomfortable. It’s so freakish and weird. I get flop sweats, dry mouth, heart palpitations, allover panic!”

Scarlett on her new album with Pete Yorn:

“I’ve known him for a while. I’ve worked with both of his brothers, who are in the entertainment industry. One day Pete texted me out of the blue saying, ‘Hey, do you want to record an album?’ I was like, Whoa, that’s a weird message. But I said, ‘Sure—why not?’”

Pete Yorn on choosing Scarlett:

“I had just discovered ‘Bonnie and Clyde,’ a Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot duet, so I watched some videos of Bardot, and they made me think of Scarlett. She represents to me what Bardot did back then. She has a confident sexiness, but at the same time, an innocence.”

Daily Beauty Tip from InStyle Magazine!

Elegant Neutral Lipstick
We get the sense that Ellen Page probably isn’t crazy about caking on the makeup, which just happens to be reason number one million that we love her. But at the Whip It premiere in Hollywood, we couldn’t help notice her shiny lipstick in a neutral—not nude—shade. To try the look, test lipsticks on your mouth (but be sure to disinfect first) to find one that closely matches the natural color of your lips. The rich pigment will give you a boost of color, but still leave you feeling like yourself.

LashBlast Length goes the distance with its superlong wand and lightweight formula

ELLE SUBSCRIPTION

Despite innovations in mascara (we’ve come a long way from 3000 B.C. crocodile-dung formulas), catching corner lashes is a task that can still frustrate even the most skillful makeup artists. But skipping them altogether won’t fool anyone: According to CoverGirl research, when asked whether a subject had long lashes, 80 percent of respondents looked at the eye’s outer corner when making their judgment. Enter CoverGirl LashBlast Length—the mascara wand, the brand’s longest to date, features 450 bristles to deliver a lightweight nylon fiber-based formula (the same used for lash extensions) designed to easily coat each and every lash.

How to achieve the perfect cat eye.

screenshot003.jpg

Glamour Magazine’s Sneaky Ways to Make the Purrfect Cat Eye

Sometimes cat-eye makeup can look a little too old-school and contrived, but somehow Ginnifer Goodwin makes it look modern and sexy. So what’s the secret? The sharpness and length of the liner. See how it thins out to a precise, pointed line at the end? It stretches to the very end of her eyebrows—the perfect stopping point when you’re lining your own eyes. A sharply pointed liquid liner makes it easy to get a straight and narrow line. Try one of the new liquid liners pens, like Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen. They look (and work!) just like a fine-tip Magic Marker. To make the liner look even sharper, use a lining brush to apply a highlighting cream or even foundation to trace the top edge of the liner—it’ll make it stand out even more and camouflage any unsteady edges.
