I wanted to let you guys know that CoverGirl’s Makeup Artist Molly Stern did Amy Adam’s beautiful makeup last night, and thought that you might be interested in learning how she achieved the look.

Here are the details from Molly:

First of all I have to say I was the most excited I have ever been this morning. I couldn’t sleep a wink. I was dreaming about Amy’s makeup.

I started by prepping the face with Jurlique Citrus Spray to give the face a healthy lift then I gave Amy a light facial massage with La Mer moisturizing lotion.

Next I based her face with YSL Perfect Touch #2.

Then l blushed her cheeks with Chantecaille Aqua Blush in Frivolous as a peachy base with Chantecaille Sesame Peach eyeshadow over top. Her eyes are based with NARS cream eyeshadow in Maracaibo. Over that I blended Shu Uemura shadow in gray 960 mixed with shu uemura shadow in purple 700 all over the lid up into the crease. With a flat shadow brush I added a touch of NARS shadow in Ondine on the inside corner of her lid to give the eye a little gold hint. I lined the top and underneath of her eye with Trish McEvoy’s Arabian nights definer. To soften the line underneath I added a soft smudge of Suqqu lavender shadow in #27.

On her lashes I put 1 soft coat of CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Mascara in Black Ruby. On her lip I based her lip with La Mer lipbalm then applied a thin coat of Outlast Lipstain by CoverGirl in Plum Pout. Then a sheer layer of Shu Uemura wine lip color in 265 with a dot of CoverGirl Wetslicks AmazeMint in Plum Crazy at the center of her lip for a little extra pout. That’s also what she took in her bag for touch ups.

Inspiration. A cross between Talouse Latrec’s dancing girls and the watercolor feeling of a Gustav Klimt painting.

The day was amazing. My goal was to make sure that her makeup was saturated but not overdone. I wanted to give her a face without competing with the dress.

Those who read this site, know that I love me some palettes.  My makeup box is filled with mostly palettes, I probably have at least 10.  This one will have to join my collection.  I love the colors, I think they’re so beautiful!  I’ve not quite perfected how to wear blue or green eyeshadow…so I may have to do a little researching.  Have you worn blue or green before?  How do you wear it?

The Precious Pearl Palette ($130 Value) is an opulent shadow palette featuring six iridescent eyeshadow shades—all infused with genuine crushed pearl.

Stila The Precious Pearl Palette features six new silky smooth eyeshadow shades that are infused with genuine crushed pearl. A natural wonder, pearl minimizes the appearance of fine lines and leaves skin with a youthful, radiant glow. It also contains minerals and proteins which nourish the skin leaving it smooth and soft. These six must-have eyeshadow shades, that can be worn alone or together, create an endless number of brilliant looks. They are tucked inside a vintage-inspired compact with real mother-of-pearl detail.

This set contains:

BLOND AMBITION: GO LIGHTER, HEALTHIER

NEW YORK’S RYAN DARIUS SALON OFFERS HEALTHIER COLOR TREATMENT

When the weather turns warmer, women get blonder. Yet while we love the way we look with lighter, blonder locks, we definitely don’t love the havoc that bleaching wrecks on our fragile follicles!

Do you know that bleaching can not only cause:

  • an over-processed look
  • change in hair texture from lustrous to limp, lifeless, and frizzy
  • damage to the hair cuticle from the outside, in—leading to MAJOR breakage

Ryan Nickulas of the Ryan Darius Salon in NYC’s West Village recommends Goldwell’s Topchic Highlift Blondes Color Treatment for clients who want to go boldly lighter, yet much more gently.

Ryan favors this treatment because:

  • It lifts and tones on one step, instead of two, making the process much more gentle because you don’t need to strip out all the natural pigment to add color

Ryan advises that it is best to lighten:

  • If you have gone dark for fall and winter, this color treatment is the best way to lighten locks for spring/summer
For hair that is already light, it gives your hair a rest from harsh and damaging highlights, yet still provides the beautiful blonde shade that you adore

Don’t Let Your Finances Affect Your Face!

beddm2702_228×242.jpg

Have you ever looked in the mirror and noticed worry lines that were not on your face yesterday? As the economy takes a toll on our wallets, it’s easy to feel anxious and stressed about the state of our finances. It’s likely the current state of our economy is causing signs of pre-mature aging in the forms of unwanted fine lines and wrinkles.

According to a 2005 study conducted at the University of California, San Francisco, cells age much faster than they normally would if they were not under high amounts of stress. Far too many of us are speeding up our aging clocks by sweating over the current recession. However, there is good news for all who are experiencing signs of pre-mature aging in these sticky times. According to Ron Cummings, founder of AminoGenisis Skin care, there are several preventative and corrective stress measures people can take that won’t put a hole in their wallets.

Don’t Let Your Finances Affect Your Face!

Stress Tip #1: Catch some Z’s!

Don’t let sleep land at the bottom of your to-do list in times of stress. All three stages of sleep dissolve free radicals, which are notorious for their contribution to early aging. More specifically, the second stage of sleep is when hormone levels peak and cell repair takes place. Any damage to your skin that could be contributing to pre-mature aging is repaired during this stage. Try to get about 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night.

Stress Tip #2: You are what you eat.

If you are well nourished, your body’s cells and skin may appear healthier. Neglecting balanced nutrition, deficiencies in vitamin A-B complexes and essential fatty acids hinder the skin’s natural ability to heal and renew itself, causing the skin to age considerably faster. Steer clear of sugar, caffeine, white flour, artificial sweeteners, and processed foods, because they provide cells with improper nutrients. Instead, load up on raw nuts, fruits, vegetables, brown rice, beans, lentils, organic cottage cheese, yogurt, and plenty of water! Healthy skin is also optimized to receive full benefits from anti-aging creams and treatments.

Stress Tip #3: Cut the habit.

When people are stressed, they often reach for cigarettes or alcohol to release their anxieties. However, smoking uses up vitamin C in the body, which is usually used to preserve collagen in the skin, the substance that keeps skin plump and youthful. Smoking breaks down the collagen, causing pre-mature wrinkles around the eyes and mouth. Heavy drinking enlarges the blood vessels and capillaries in the skin, which can lead to a loss of healthy glow in the face.

Stress Tip #4: Don’t compromise your beauty routine.

After a long, stressful day, it is likely that removing make-up and thoroughly cleansing the face seems to have little importance. However, not doing so not only leads to mascara stained sheets, but also to clogged pores and accelerated signs of aging. According to Ron, “at the very least wash your face every night to remove imbedded dirt, make-up, and other impurities accumulated throughout the day.”

Stress Tip #5: Be pro-active.

Daily use of an anti-aging day cream containing SPF can help reduce signs of fine lines, wrinkles, and sun-damage, as well as prevent future damage. A great option is AminoGenisis’ newest product, “Wrinkle Arrest,” which is an anti-aging day cream with SPF 18 and broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Wrinkle Arrest has also been recognized by the American Academy of Dermatology with a seal of recognition for its sun-protection benefit.

About AminoGenesis Skin Care

AminoGenesis Skin Care was founded in 2000 after creator Ron Cummings, a longtime sufferer of dermatitis, was recommended a cream for his skin condition. Once he learned everything he could about that cream he used, Ron decided to make the life-changing decision to end his existing career and enter the unfamiliar business of skincare. He learned that the cream was actually a potent mixture of amino acids, essentially the building blocks of all life. All living things, plant or animal, that grows on this planet share exactly the same amino acids – it is the arrangement of amino acids that makes everything and everyone unique. They are the building blocks of every structure in human skin; vital skin proteins like collagen, elastin, lipids and all cellular tissues are made from amino acids. The basis of the AminoGenesis philosophy is that skin functions fantastically when it is properly nourished and it is with amino acids that skin becomes properly nourished. Several years ago the team of world class doctors, chemists and researchers that Ron enlisted set out to harness the power of amino acids. After about a decade of research and testing, the original AminoGenesis formula was born and the results astounded even those who created it.
