Eva Mendes announced as the new face of Estée Lauder New Dimension Skincare

Get to know the newly named face of our groundbreaking New Dimension skincare.

Since her breakout role in the 2001 film Training Day, Eva Mendes has reliably ranked amongst Hollywood’s most beautiful actresses. But the red carpet regular admits that getting comfortable with seeing herself on camera took time. “I can take a funky photo,” laughs the Cuban-American stunner, whose film work has earned her countless magazine covers and plenty of time on the premiere circuit. “I have an angular face and I kind of had to learn which angles were which, and how I could work that into a scene,” she continues.

It’s probably what was attractive to me about becoming an actress—the art of transformation.
Part of that learning process stemmed from Mendes’ early love affair with the power of change. “I’ve always loved how I could transform myself by just highlighting a certain area and playing down another area. It’s probably what was attractive to me about becoming an actress—the art of transformation.” Mendes is a pro at getting into character for a new role, and has shaved her eyebrows and even gone blonde to bring a certain level of authenticity to her projects. (“I’m an awful blonde!” she insists). It’s a skill that has served the 41-year-old well as she undergoes the personal transformation of becoming a new mom. “My baby just started sleeping through the night so I have little more time for my beauty ritual,” she reveals of her daily routine that includes our New Dimension Shape + Fill Expert Serum and New Dimension Expert Tape, new-to-market skincare products that firm, tone and tighten the look of skin for enhanced visible definition, density—and confidence-induced perspective. “My face is changing,” admits Mendes. “And I want to be able to embrace that process.” Here, the products’ ambassador provides her own angle on the important stuff—that being deep dish pizza and the luxury of sleeping in.

Banish Brassiness with Clairol Shimmer Lights Hair Care

I decided a few weeks ago I would color my own hair. I figured I do root touch ups in between salon visits so why do I just save a few bucks and color my hair myself.  I picked up some box hair color for platinum blonde and made sure to get an ash based color so it didn’t go brassy.

Applied it per the directions and let it sit for the prescribed time. Hopped in the shower rinsed, conditioned and jumped out to find I had the most awful yellow brassy color. Imagine a pumpkin and a banana having a baby… that was the color of the top 4 inches of my hair. I quickly remembered why I leave platinum color to the professionals and went about a repair plan.

After googling hair SOS tips from every source available I headed to Sally Beauty Supply. Picked up a Wella Ash Toner and some Shimmer Lights Shampoo. After the toning treatment my yellow was mostly gone but I still had some brassy spots. In came the rich purple Clairol Shimmer Lights shampoo. I started applying every 3rd day instead of my regular shampoo and within a week the brassiness was gone and I was left with a beautiful pale ash blonde I had originally been shooting for. You can see from the pic above how thick, rich and deeply purple this shampoo is.

Love how great the Shimmer Lights worked to tone down the remaining brassiness. With every use I was amazed how much brassiness was toned down and I love the pale platinum color it left my hair.  For maintenance of my color I just apply Shimmer Lights Shampoo once a week. I like to let it sit about 5-7 minutes then I rinse and bye bye brassiness. I didn’t pick up the conditioner but think I will go grab it I love the shampoo so much.

Pardon the down time

sick woman

Please excuse the lack of posts this  week. I picked up a bad stomach virus and spent the week battling nausea, fever, fatigue and stomach pains that I am pretty sure where worse than labor pains. Ended up in urgent care getting an IV for dehydration. But I have made it over the hard part and am on the mend. I am sorry for neglecting the site this week but if you saw my house you would know this wasn’t the only ball I dropped.

I have been trying some great new products over the last month. A great skincare line, self tanners, gel polish and even coloring my own hair and then having to fix it. I will be back on Monday with lots of reviews to help you get the best bang for your beauty buck.

Have a wonderful weekend and stay healthy!!!

OSIS and Trend Spotting at Coachella – Spine Braid

The Spine Braid, first spotted on Kate Bosworth during weekend 1 of Coachella, has been a huge hit on the festival front.

For a guaranteed stop and stare style, follow this style breakdown:

Step 1: To add texture, start by prepping the hair with OSiS+ Refresh Dust ($22 at LoxaBeauty.com) and run OSiS+ Thrill ($23 at LoxaBeauty.com) through the hair that will be braided to keep it intact.

Step 2: Take a half inch wide section from the center of the head back to the top of the crown, clipping down the sides for control.

Step 3: Create an inside out cornrow braid, securing with a small elastic.

Step 4: Comb OSiS+ Volume Up ($21 at LoxaBeauty.com) through the length and ends, softly shaking to loosen up locks and add bounce.

Step 5: Finish and polish the look with OSiS+ Elastic Flexible Hold Hairspray ($19 at LoxaBeauty.com).
