BTZ Kick Up Your Curls Curling Creme

I was recently stocking up on a few supplies at Sally’s when I decided it was time to try something new to tame my curls. I have naturally spirally curly hair, I have spent years wishing for straight hair but finally realized it would make more sense to work with what I have. The sales girl at Sally said the BTZ line is awesome for curls and the Noodle Head curl cream was a favorite. I was sold and figured I had to try it out.

If I let my girls air dry with just a basic gel or cream I get a lot of frizz and usually only parts of my hair hold the curl the rest end up weighed down and look limp or crunchy. I like the texture of the BTZ Noodle cream its lightweight and didn’t leave any residue in my hair. I added a pump to my hand rubbed it a bit to emulsify then scrunched it up into my curls. It brought out better curls than normal and the best part as it dried no frizz! I have been using Noodle Head for a few weeks now and love it. For days I leave my natural curl it helps make the most of my curls and eliminates frizz. And there is no crunchy residue my curls are soft and bouncy. Can’t wait to try more from the BTZ line.

Drinakable Sunscreen from Osmosis Skincare

IMG_0854 (1)

We have been having some amazing weather breaking sun and heat in the PNW. As the city was starting to cook we decided to hit the beach for a day of fun in the sun. The beach is always deceiving the cool wind can make it feel so amazing and you forget you’re a little piece of meat on the grill. Since we had a long day planned in the sun I figured it was the perfect chance to try out drinkable sunscreen. Yes, drinkable!!

So we set up on the beach I pulled out the bottle and my friends and I all took our shots of sunscreen. At first they thought I was kidding but then I explained it and we all took the appropriate dose.  I wasn’t sure how it would taste, but luckily there is no icky taste its just like drinking water. They have two formulas Tan Enhancing and No Tan Frequency. We all still had pasty winter skin and chose the Tan Enhancing Formula.

The results it works amazing, if you remember to reapply every 3 hours. My friends reapplied at the 3 hour mark and I was way down the beach exploring caves and swimming holes. (Yes, we swim even though its only 54 °F most days in our ocean). I did end up getting a bit of a burn on my shoulders from my failure to reapply. But the great thing is how well it worked with the right dosing. And even with my failure to reapply instead of missing spots with a spray or lotion and having a super painful burn I had a bit of red on my shoulders. Can’t wait to use this more this summer, and this time I’ll set an alarm to reapply.

Drinkable Option: Osmosis Harmonized Water UV Neutralizer
Described at the world’s 1st drinkable sunscreen, this dietary supplement is available in two formulas (Tan Enhancing and No Tan Enhancing). Physician endorsed, no chemicals, non-toxic, this is simply purified water imprinted with unique, vibrational waves which isolate out the precise frequencies needed to protect you from UV rays. The frequencies that have been imprinted on water will vibrate on your skin in such a way as to cancel approximately 97% of the UVA and UVB rays (similar to broad spectrum SPF 30 products). This results in 3 hours of coverage that can be repeated for extended stays in the sun. These two different UV Waters allow for increased sun exposure (30x more than normal), protect your eyes, do not wash off when swimming and can increase your tanning response.

Introducing: Vivant Skincare

CYMERA_20160608_142940 (1)

On Monday I just started a daily regime of Vivant Skincare products with a custom designed care routine based on my skins issues and needs. I will be using this for the rest of the month and then will be sharing my before and after shots and my thoughts on the line.

I am hoping the Vivant Skincare line can help clear up some of the sun spots developing on my cheeks. I am a few days in and I have noticed my skin looks clearer and brighter. Stay tuned for the full review!

Vivant Skin Care has an interesting history.  Vivant’s co-founder, James Fulton M.D., Ph.D. was the co-developer of Retin-A, developer of Benzoyl Peroxide and many other skin care industry gold standards.  His life’s work was to find a cure for acne. Along the way he made a lot of interesting discoveries not only for the treatment of acne but also for anti-aging and hyperpigmentation.

For nearly 50 years, Vivant® Skin Care has been dedicated to providing potent, medically-proven dermatological therapies. There’s no fluff, just purposeful skin care solutions. Founded in 1990 in California by the late Dr. James E. Fulton, Jr., M.D., Ph.D., co-developer of Retin-A®, and his wife Sara Fulton, Vivant Skin Care is a clinical skin care line rooted in Fulton’s patented vitamin A therapies. The line was inspired by Dr. Fulton’s personal struggle with acne and life-long study of and research in skin care. The resulting 35 + formulations comprise our skin care products designed to treat skin conditions such as acne, hyperpigmentation and aged skin.
Vivant Skin Care’s products successfully treat resistant skin conditions found in ethnic skin types such as hyperpigmentation (melasma) and acne, giving them a natural acceptability rate in the Latin American and Caribbean marketplaces. An estimated 45-50 million women worldwide live with melasma, a condition that presents itself as unattractive brown patches or uneven skin color. The Vivant Skin Care line provides a non-surgical alternative to achieving even and clear skin.

Sorry for the Absence.

Dad and I

(My Dad and I snowshoeing)

Hello to any MakeHerUp readers who have kept checking in through my excessive absence. I have meant to get on and post but life got in the way. My Dad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer at the beginning of this year. He had a major surgery last week followed by some bad news it had spread. So I spent the better part of the last two weeks at the hospital in any free time I could find.

He is back home recuperating and I am back to share some more great products with you. Sometimes the only thing we can do is keep marching forward so I will be back and working to get a daily post up.

Thank you for your patience with me!
