They make hairbrushes?

When you hear the name John Frieda you might just think of his popular Frizz- Ease or Brilliant Blonde collections, but did you know they make hairbrushes as well? When I opened the package I thought “oh a hairbrush” little did I know I would come to adore this unassuming brush.

With long, fine, and thick curly hair brushing is always a chore. The brushes that are gentle enough don’t comb all the way through and the brushes that can handle my mane tend to pull to hard and break my hair. The John Frieda cushion brush does an exceptional job on wet hair the cushion helps you comb out your hair completely without pain or breakage. It seems to just slide through my hair making brushing it so easy. Simply put this a a great hairbrush and at $12.99 it won’t break the budget.

John Frieda Cushion Brush

The John Frieda Sleek Finish Cushion Brush has deep- shine silicone bristles to create shine, smooth flyaways and helps reduce frizz.  There also IONS in the brush help to flatten the hair’s cuticle layers.

The brush is safe for wet or dry hair.

Gwen Stefani: “Makeup goes on every day, even if I’m not going anywhere”

Gwen Stefani is InStyle’s November cover girl. In the magazine Gwen opens up about her daily beauty routine. Gwen reveals that she has a rather addiction to dying her hair, which she claims to dye as often as Marilyn Monroe did. She also admits that she doesn’t leave the house without makeup.

In this issue, the rock star designer opens up about doing so much in so many arenas—fashion (she launches her third line Harajuku Mini for Target mid-November), music (a new No Doubt album is slated for next year), and family (“being a mother is probably the most challenging thing I do,” she says of parenting Kingston, 5, and Zuma, 3, with husband Gavin Rossdale).

Whatever she’s doing, it works, because she looks amazing! Considering she’s 42-years-old (can you believe that!?) she’s definitely doing something right!

Gwen on finding balance: “At work I’ve learned how to delegate. You don’t have to be on a ladder in a warehouse, micromanaging. You can be at home. And teamwork is also such a big part of marriage and parenting.”

On making time for her sons: “The thing I’d like to do is enjoy these boys while they’re young – so I don’t regret I was working too much when they’re big and don’t want to cuddle with me anymore.”

Her trademark blonde: “My hair color is L’Oréal, but I won’t reveal the number. And I do my roots as often as Marilyn Monroe did hers. I’m serious. I found out.”

The one time she went red: “Right after we came home from the first No Doubt tour I felt like I might get recognized, so I colored my hair red. And I hated it.”

Her makeup: “The makeup goes on every day, even if I’m not going anywhere.”

How Safe Are At-Home LED Therapy Devices?

It’s the latest crave in acne and wrinkle treatments. At-home kits that use LED light therapy by exposing the skin to wavelengths of colored light in an attempt to clear up blemishes and wrinkles.

Photo rejuvenation or LED Light Therapy is the use of various colors of light emitting diodes (LEDs) that create an anti-aging effect on the skin. Exact wavelengths of light emitted from LED’s stimulate and energize cellular activity, which in turn creates collagen and elastin for Anti-Aging benefits. LED Light Therapy has become recognized as one of the safest, quickest, and most affordable ways to achieve younger-looking skin. It’s referred to by several different names including: Photo-Rejuvenation, Anti-aging LED Light Therapy, LED Light Therapy or Red/Yellow Light Therapy.

LED light therapy can alleviate or diminish a wide range of skin conditions, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne
  • Blemishes
  • Hypo-pigmentation
  • Hyper-pigmentation
  • Irritated skin
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Stretch marks
  • Scars
  • Cellulite
  • Pain

LED treatments have up until recently only been found in a dermatologist office or used by facialists. Recently, however, high profile celebs like Sienna Miller and Natalie Imbruglia have been using at-home treatments. If you were to visit a salon, it would cost you at least $100 per session, and would take more than six sessions to achieve the optimal results.

So is it worth it to put up a little money to buy your own kit at home? Are they really safe – and worth the money?

Dr. David McDaniel, who runs the Institute of Anti-Ageing Research in Virginia, suggests doing your homework before spending the big bucks, and don’t expect a miracle.

‘It is easy to make marketing claims and imply that results match up to clinic-based treatments,’ he says.

‘Unfortunately, these are common in the LED and home medical device arena. If you have particularly deep folds or cystic acne and scarring, it won’t be as responsive to LED light treatments — these will react better to fillers or lasers.’

But is it safe?

Yes, it is safe and completely non-invasive. It has been used for years in numerous medical procedures, medical spas, the offices of aestheticians and dermatologists, and by consumers around the world.

Is LED Light Therapy safe, even around sensitive areas like your eyes?

YES. LEDs are very bright and therefore it is NOT advisable to look or stare directly into the light. No studies have been found showing any harmful effects to the eyes when using our product correctly. Keep the eyes closed during use on the face or use the comfort goggles enclosed and the light will not cause damage to the eye.

Are there any side effects?

No. There have been no reported adverse side effects like redness or irritation from the treatment, and the light does not damage skin in any way.

What’s the difference between LED Light Therapy and Laser Treatments?

Unlike lasers, LED lights do not heat the patient’s tissue, so there is no discomfort during LED therapy. Also, LED skincare machines use light with a longer wavelength, which permeates deeper levels of tissue. And whereas lasers deliver a precise, pinpointed light, LED light can be applied to the entire body during a quick treatment.

LED’s help those cells which are injured damaged or diseased return to their original healthy nature.

Conditions LED light therapy does not help:

  • headache
  • muscle ache from working out
  • infection
  • scars
  • bunion reduction
  • reverse osteoarthritis bone deformation
  • any injury too deep or beneath bone like the brain

Is there any area I should not use the Light Therapy on?

Only if you have thyroid challenges simply cover the thyroid area for cautions sake with piece of gauze, or folded tissue when treating the neck. The thyroid is located under the “u” notch in the center of the collarbone. The thyroid is deep enough below the skin surface that it is not affected by light, but a cover is always advised particularly if you have thyroid concerns.

Who should NOT use LED Light Therapy?

Don’t use a LED unit during pregnancy, if you have epilepsy, or are taking light sensitive medications such as, but not limited to: Thiazides; Tetracyclines; Fluoroquinolones; Griseofulvin; Sulfonamides (to treat infections); Sulfonylureas (treat diabetes); Penothiazines (for emotional problems).

From researching many, many websites – and reading results from many different doctors, it appears that at-home LED Therapy Devices ARE safe! Use as directed, and you may see amazing results!
