I like to try these types of products for a good couple weeks before I review them, so I can give an honest review, one that I’ve actually seen (or not seen) results from.

I’m in LOVE with this product. It changes the whole appearance of my skin! It evens out my skin tone – so my face appears (bear with me here) almost flawless. I am not a huge foundation person, so this works really well for me. My skin looks great – like it would with foundation, but without the heaviness. My skin feels soft and amazing, all day long! Kiehl’s Recycle and Be Rewarded! project with Florence Welch, Mark Ruffalo, Rosario Dawson and Spike Lee, and Recycle Across America‏

Kiehl’s has launched another environmentally conscious program called ‘Recycle and Be Rewarded’, which is a Limited Edition series with labels designed by four celebrities: Rosario Dawson, Spike Lee, Florence Welch and Mark Ruffalo.

100% of the net proceeds will go towards Recycle Across America. Kiehl’s also donated $100,000 to RAA, a non profit organization dedicated to solving the environmental crisis.

With a twofold approach, Kiehl’s is determined to improve recycling methods and further educate our customers on the importance of consistent recycling: We’ve introduced a new product to benefit RAA’s efforts with some incredible celebrity partners, and with the organization’s help, are relaunching our in-store recycling program to help educate and encourage our customers in their recycling efforts.

In honor of the new series, Kiehl’s has launched a Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque series featuring labels designed by the celebrities.

Recycle and Be Rewarded! is a program in which Kiehl’s patrons may return their empty Kiehl’s bottles, tubes and jars for recycling, in exchange for product. This program is available in all Kiehl’s free-standing stores nationwide.

In encouraging our customers to recycle their Kiehl’s bottles, we are ensuring that those empties are recycled properly, helping them to think more about recycling in general, and give them a reward for doing so. (3 empties=a Lip Balm #1; 5 empties=1 product from the Official Kiehl’s Travel Collection; 10 empties= any single product with a value of $25 or less.) Since 2009, Kiehl’s has already recycled 500,000 bottles!

Does your lady business need a little bleaching? There’s a product for that!

Have you ever thought that your lady parts need a little lightening up? (Yeah, me either)

There’s a new ad for an Indian skin lightening product called Clean and Dry Intimate Wash, that promotes a product that bleaches that whole area!

In the commercial, a couple lounges in their house, the man idly reading a newspaper while the woman pouts to herself because, clearly, he’s ignoring her due to her dark-colored privates. Luckily, she gets ahold of Clean and Dry, which makes her vulva a few shades lighter, and her husband is happy-go-lucky again. Whew! Divorce averted.

Skin lightening creams have a long and controversial history in India and Asia, including a spree of ads for the products that feature darker-skinned women who seem devastated over the fact that they’re not Caucasian. A popular Bollywood actress shucked lightening cream for the Body Shop in ads that made her skin look multiple shades paler than it does in real life. Vaseline even launched a line of whitening creams — and a phone app that lets you digitally lighten your skin — in India. And women in Jamaica are making potentially dangerous bleaching creams with homemade ingredients.

Of course, some people think lightening creams shouldn’t be a sociologically-charged issue, arguing that women who seek pale skin aren’t any different than Caucasian women who want to be tan. (Or this article, which strangely argues that fair features are… easier to see?)

But regardless, when the ideal of light skin gets intimate, a beauty issue that’s already controversial gets sexualized, and you end up with commercials like the one above that not-so-subtly blames your relationship problems on your skin tone.

GROSS!!! I’ve never thought of lightening my lady business, and even after watching this commercial – the idea still doesn’t sound exciting.

Introducing Murad’s NEW Pomegranate line!

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about Murad’s new line of pomegranate products. I was lucky enough to receive two of the products to try, and I had to share them with you! I tried the Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser and the Energizing Pomegranate Moisturizer.

I have used Murad products for years – and so to try NEW products was like Christmas morning for me.

I am absolutely in love with these products. The cleanser is gentle – yet effective. It makes my skin tingle, which I love. The moisturizer is so wonderful. I don’t think there’s any shimmer in it, but my skin looks like it’s glowing all day when I wear it. My skin has felt healthier – more firm. My pores are smaller, and my skin overall – looks amazing.

Murad’s clinical trials show roughly a 25% improvement in SPF when a pomegranate extract supplement is added to a diet because it boosts natural sunscreen levels. If topical sunscreen also contains pomegranate extract, there is an additional improvement in SPF by 20%. Studies have also shown the application of pomegranate to the skin minimizes the risk of developing skin cancer.

Help Banish Breast Cancer

Murad recently partnered with City of Hope to help raise funds for breast and women’s cancers research, education and treatment. City of Hope researchers identified six chemicals in the pomegranate that suppress aromatase — a substance in the body that helps produce estrogen. Introducing Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution!

I’ve had this product for probably over a month now, and haven’t reviewed it yet because I really wanted to see if it works. I used it every night after washing my face for weeks now, and I am happy to announce I absolutely saw results.

I have sun spots that are under my eyes, and they drive me NUTS. This product reduced the darkness of the spots so much – that I’m convinced it’s going to remove them completely as I continue to use it!
