Which Celeb Lipstick Sold Out in Just Three Hours?

 

Rihanna’s new lipstick for MAC has sold out just three hours after going on sale for the first time.

The singer, 25, told her Twitter followers that the deep red hue was finally available to buy yesterday afternoon – but just a short while later she posted an update letting fans know that there were no more left.

‘#SOLDOUT!!!!!!!!!! First shipment sell awf!!! Next shipment isn’t til June!!! Mac girls gone wild!!!… [sic]‘ she wrote.

The shade, RiRi Woo, is a twist on MAC favorite Ruby Woo. It is the first product from the singer’s ‘multi-collection deal’ with the cosmetics giant.

 ‘Working with MAC, it’s difficult to get a red lipstick that beats Ruby Woo, because it works on every skin tone,’ she told WWD. ‘I got to pick one that worked, and I tried it on all my friends to make sure it worked on all of our skin tones.’

Rihanna and MAC Cosmetics have joined forces, and collaborated on a new collection!

Today we’re getting our sneak peek at the first product to launch from the new line, the RiRi Woo Lipstick, a beautiful deep red shade. The color is inspired by the brand’s famous Ruby Woo shade that Rihanna is famous for wearing.

Rihanna even inscribed the lipstick!

RiRi Woo will be available May 4, and will set you back $16!

Elle UK hasn’t released any bits from the interview yet, but obviously people are running with that quote on the cover above, where she announces “I will have a child…” Please God let her have a child with someone other than Chris Brown! Rihanna is smoking way too much weed at this point to be a mother. Call me crazy, but her Instagram antics scare me. She need not be a mother now…. she has some growing up to do herself still.

The two appear in the March 2013 issue of the magazine, and the pictures are hot!

The much-hyped editorial features Rihanna photographed with Moss in all sorts of suggestive, cuddly poses: Rihanna naked with Kate on top, Kate naked with Rihanna on top, the pair pulling their faces thisssss close together… you get the idea. The semi-racy shoot is par for the course for both women as well as Mario Testino, a fashion photographer who always brings out the sexy in his subjects.

It’s also par for the course for a magazine to stick RihannaorKate Moss on a major cover. V magazine has gone all out and done both. Way to be, V.

Rihanna teams with MAC to launch new collection!

Rihanna is not only designing clothes these days, she’s also teamed up with MAC to launch her own line of cosmetics!

The 25-year-old landed an unprecedented deal, according to sources. The line, called RiRi [Hearts] MAC, will launch later this year.

“When you think of makeup, the brand that pops into your mind—for something legit—is MAC,” Rihanna told WWD. “Whatever color you want, it’s like ‘Let’s go to MAC.’ I’ve been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me. I have always loved makeup, and I always said that if I do it, I want to do it with a credible brand.”

The first release will be RiRi Woo, a lipstick inspired by her favorite MAC red, Ruby Woo. The product will debut at Rihanna’s “Diamonds” tour shows on May 4 and 5 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, where MAC will open a pop-up shop on the first night to unveil the line.

Although MAC has partnered with pop stars in the past including Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, and Azealia Banks, this is the first time the brand has worked with a celebrity beyond a one-off product.

“We always say that MAC likes to go on a date but doesn’t really want to go into a relationship,” said John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., MAC’s parent company. “This relationship with Rihanna is a long-term one that involves the development of four distinct color initiatives.”

The four collections will roll out throughout the year. As creative partner, Rihanna’s name will appear on the packaging and her signature will be stamped on the lipsticks, as well as the upcoming fall and holiday collections.

“This is a true, organic collaboration based on mutual admiration and respect. These four collections are like four tracks on a Rihanna compilation. Each one has its own vibe, look, special makeup packaging and flavor. This is really the convergence of pop culture, fast fashion, and iconic style and makeup,” said Demsey. “She’s a star. The world follows her look—how she wears her hair, her nails, her clothing, how she styles herself.”

A campaign for the fall and holiday collections has already been shot with fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, while industry experts estimate that the line could pull in $15 million at retail globally.

“I never thought I’d be able to create makeup with such a big brand so quickly at such a young age,” said Rihanna. “It’s kind of sick to even say aloud when I think about it.”

Rihanna selling makeup seems like such a natural fit, doesn’t it? I don’t know about her clothes – but her makeup – I’m excited to see!

The Sunday Times Magazine compares Rihanna and Princess Diana in shocking new cover.

The Sunday Times Magazine, which is a weekly magazine from London, released this shocking new cover comparing Rihanna and Princess Diana, with the cover line “The Princess & The Showgirl.”

In the interview, the writer argues that the two celebrities maintained a “ravishingly seductive flirtation with the world press.”

“Like Diana,” writes Camille Paglia, “Rihanna has worryingly drifted into using photo ops to send messages of allure, defiance or revenge in a turbulent relationship with an errant partner.”

It may be true that Princess Diana and Rihanna found themselves in dysfunctional relationships with famous men. It’s also true that both are hyper-famous, subject to intense scrutiny from the celebrity-loving press. But is Rihanna really the new Princess Diana, as the magazine alleges?

That’s for the rest of the world to debate. For the time being, Rihanna seems pretty pleased with the comparison. On Sunday she posted a photo of the Sunday Times Magazine piece to Instagram, with the caption:

Just so happens I came home drunk to this in a pile of papers outside my hotel room! My lil Bajan behind, never thought these many people would even know my name, now it’s next to Princess Diana’son the front of a newspaper! Life can be such a beautiful thing when you let it be #yourejealous :) She added in another photo, “When your face is pic-stitched to Princess Diana’s on the cover of The Sunday Times…. I mean… #extraordinaRIHbehavior”

I think the cover borders offensive. It’s crazy to me to compare Princess Diana and Rihanna – in ANY way.
