It’s official! Penélope Cruz is Esquire’s “Sexiest Woman Alive,” and we couldn’t agree more! Penelope is getting more gorgeous as she ages, isn’t she? She’s never looked better!

Describing Cruz’s obvious beauty, profiler Chris Jones writes, “has no physical flaws…Her face contains no secrets, at least not about her. But her face tells you and the room plenty about you. If you want to feel like the world’s most judged man, sit down at a table in a restaurant with the Sexiest Woman Alive.”

Being hailed the “sexiest woman alive” is an honor for Cruz, who says she was once known as “drama queen.” As the actress explains in the magazine’s November issue, “I’ve played a lot of tricks on myself. I’ve made it hard for me sometimes, especially in my teens and 20s. I had an attraction to drama. Most of us have that, especially if you are an artist—you feel like you are tempted to explore the darkness.”

As a young girl in Madrid, Spain, Cruz often lied about her age in order to get into movie theaters to see films by her mentor, director Pedro Almodóvar. “[He is] the biggest source of inspiration,” Cruz recalls. Cruz still explores her dark side in movies, but what about in real life? “I could not be less interested now. For me, the most attractive, charming, cool, fun, interesting thing—how could I call it? A plan.”

Per usual, that’s about as much as Cruz is willing to reveal about her personal life. Asked about husband, Javier Bardem, 45, son Leo, 3, daughter, Luna, 1, the I’m So Excited! actress, 40, replies, “That is for us.”

How gorgeous is she?

The most beautiful woman on the planet lands the January cover of Allure

penelope-cruz-allure-jan3

I think Penelope Cruz is one of the most beautiful women on the planet. She is flawless. She looks just as gorgeous WITH makeup as she does without. When she opens her mouth, pure sexiness oozes out. She is just so hot!

The actress landed the January (already!?) cover of Allure Magazine, and she does not disappoint. Penelope opens up about being addicted to breastfeeding, her family and her diet. Here’s more!

Diet & breastfeeding: Penélope Cruz dug into the soup, Peking duck, and crispy fish she ordered during her Allure interview, saying, “As you can see, we’re not going to talk about diet for this story.” Not the deprivation type, anyway. Cruz, mother of six-month-old Luna, says, “I’m supposed to get extra calories because breast-feeding you burn, like, an extra 500 a day. I was breast-feeding my son 13 months, and I plan to do the same with my daughter. [Nursing] is addictive. It’s hard when the day comes when you have to stop.”

Family: Cruz and her husband, actor Javier Bardem, are also parents to Leonardo, almost 3. “I always knew I wanted a family because of the way I grew up,” she says. “Family has always been the most important thing.”

Hair: “My parents owned a hair salon, so I learned a few tricks there. I can cut people’s hair—if they let me,” says Cruz.

On Salma Hayek: “She’s one of my best friends. We call each other huevos [eggs]. It was because when we were working together, we didn’t have children yet, so we used to sleep much more than now. So it was a way to call each other lazy. We slept in the same bed so many times and it was like she was always trying to wake me up and call me huevos.”

I loved breastfeeding my first son. I did it for 13 months as well, and I loved every single time. By time my second son came around I wasn’t able to keep it up like I could with my first. But I understand the love for breastfeeding. It’s something only YOU and your child can experience. it’s such a bonding thing.

Penelope Cruz directs a super-sexy ad for her own Agent Provocateur lingerie!

Penelope Cruz stepped behind the camera to direct a five-minute ad for the Agent Provocateur line she designed with her sister, Monica.

The sexy video features not only her sister, but Spanish actor Miguel Angel. It’s Migeul’s magical sunglasses that lets him see women without their clothes on. He makes his way through a party where he sees women in Penelope’s lingerie. At the end of the video he comes face to face with Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover girl, Irina Shayk.

“I just didn’t want to show the beautiful bodies of models,” Cruz explains in a behind-the-scenes featurette about the short film. “I wanted to tell a story that could help you connect to what the brand is about.”

Speaking about the experience with WWD recently, the actress added: “[It was] very personal and important for me, a very interesting experience. They gave me all the freedom, and I was able to tell the story I wanted to tell.”

“I used women of all shapes and sizes, as it was important for me to let women know that this brand is for everyone,” she continued. “I chose Irina, as she is such a vivacious woman, and with all the beautiful women in the campaign, I really needed someone who would keep the audience’s attention.”

The new mom — who welcomed her second child, a daughter, on July 22 — also called upon her family for help. Sister Monica, for example, who was nine months pregnant at the time the ad was filmed, makes a brief cameo in the film in a pink lace babydoll chemise from the collection.

“I got my sister a few days before she gave birth,” Cruz says. “I thought she wasn’t going to make it. But she was there, she felt fine…I had her on the set for two hours. She looked so beautiful.”

Penelope’s line will make it’s worldwide debut in stores on August 1.

Sexy is right!

Penelope Cruz Covers Harper’s Bazaar May 2012 Issue

Penelope Cruz is flawless on the May 2012 cover of Harper’s Bazaar, on newsstands April 29. The 37-year-old Spanish actress opened up about her family, fashion, and her idol

On her idol, Meryl Streep:
“When I first started watching movies and I saw Meryl’s work, that’s when I became obsessed with acting. Now I kiss her whenever I see her! She must think I’m crazy.” On recalling a magazine shoot she had to do with Meryl a few years ago for the AIDS charity (RED): “As soon as she got to the set, I had to sit topless on top of her. It was the most interesting love scene I’ve ever done.”

On Working with Woody Allen:
She launches into a story of shooting her first film after having Leonardo, Allen’s To Rome with Love. (She won an Oscar for her deliciously unhinged role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona.) “I love being around Woody. Watching him direct, and sometimes,” she whispers, “he falls asleep while they are lighting the next shot. I take pictures of him because he picks the strangest positions. I always think he is going to fall off his chair.” But it’s when he’s awake that Penélope says she loves Allen the most: “That whole shoot I laughed so hard.”

On how she characterizes herself:
“[I’m a] worrier. I am living for every day and trying to have less fear, less worry. But I have always worried about everything; it’s in my nature. It’s the thing that makes me suffer the most.”

On her red-carpet fashion choices:
“All I look for is to be able to breathe!”

On her son Leonardo:
Ask about Leonardo and she gives a diplomatic smile and declines to elaborate. “I talk about him all day long, even to strangers in the street; it is my favorite subject! But, you know; this is my job.”
