It’s a precious picture of husband Dean McDermott, and son Liam, 4. I noticed right away that Liam’s nails are painted.

We’ve talked lately about painting our sons nails – and how we feel about it. It’s certainly a hot topic!

What’s your opinion?

We’re pretty simple when it comes to our nails. An inky black manicure is our go-to look as of late, but after spotting newspaper print over a pared-down putty pastel hue, we’re starting to rethink our polish position.

Katy Perry is the latest celebrity to be seen sporting the ‘Stiletto Nail’ trend! She tweeted the picture above, along with: “Nails for the day… This took 4ever to type.”

The long, tapered and sharpened nails are becoming increasingly popular amongst celebs, with fans like Rihanna, Fergie and now Katy Perry!

“It’s a very dramatic,” Irene Nahon, owner of the FiFi Nail Salon in midtown Manhattan told the News. “It’s definitely a hot look. Not for the conservative or for the office.”

Not all nail salons in the city will know exactly what a “stiletto nail’ is yet but most can help you choose the length of your tip and file it down to the exact amount of pointiness you desire.

You can choose your polish or add jewels and pick any kind of wrap you like. Once the nail is set with UV gel and wrapped, your talons are permanent.

Total cost: Around $120. The most popular color? Black.

One reason women seem to like the stiletto nail is that it elongates the fingers and hand, Jamie Ahn, owner of Acqua Beauty Bar and Townhouse Spa in Manhattan told the News.

A downside? Injury.

“People have to be careful,” says Ahn. “You can really poke yourself in the eye. I’ve seen it a lot more times than you would think.”

“Men don’t seem to like the look much either,” she added.

This March, Butter London will release a glittery new shade – with a nod to Kate Middleton’s long-awaited nuptials – called, “No more Waity, Katie.”

The limited-edition nail laquer is grayish-blue and glitter-infused, according to Nonie Créme, Butter London’s creative director. And of course, it gives a cheeky nod to Kate’s pre-engagement nickname, “Waity Katie.”

The nail care company, a cult favorite that prides itself on selling chemical-free products, will ship the nail polish internationally. It will retail for around $22.

Pre-ordering on zuneta.com for “No More Waity, Katie” will begin in the first week of March, and the product will officially launch the second week of the month.

No word on whether or not Kate will wear the polish herself!

PS: For $22 – it better be something fantastic. I can’t imagine ever spending that much on one bottle of polish! It better glow with royalty!
