Makeup artist Mary Phillips gave Dakota Johnson a natural, soft look to compliment her bold custom Jason Wu navy micro-beaded camisole with navy silk gauze full skirt. Inspired by Dakota’s vibrant blue eyes, Mary gave her a smoky eye in rusts and added a hint of pink to her lips for a youthful touch of color.

How-To: Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Met Gala look!

"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

Kiehl’s Since 1851 is extremely proud to have been part last night’s Met Gala festivities, courtesy of artist Molly Stern, who used Kiehl’s skincare, including our brand new Micro-Blur Skin Perfector, to create Maggie Gyllenhaal’s gala look.

Used were:

· Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream Intense Hydration

· Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector

· Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

· Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm

Here’s makeup artist Molly Stern on how to get the look:

“I love working with Maggie Gyllenhaal because she has a radiance and style that comes from so deep inside.

Tonight she wore an incredible gown by Valentino in honor of the MET gala. The gown had a touch of 70’s flair in shape and color.

I wanted Maggie’s skin to be warm and healthy as if she had just come back from vacationing in St Barth.

To begin, I prepped her skin with a spray of Jurlique Citrus Purifying Mist and then applied Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream Intense Hydration to deeply moisturize her skin. Then, to give the skin a refined and extremely smooth texture, I applied Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector.
Then I warmed up her skin tone using Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation in Shea.

Moving on to the cheeks, I applied Koh Gen Do Moisture Foundation in #303 to the hollows of her cheeks, blending up to the apples. Then, to add a healthy glow of flush I applied Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Canyon.

To prep her eyes I applied Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado to give the eye a nice smooth base to hold the color. Next, I applied Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Tawny. Then I applied a combination of NARS Matte Eyeshadows in Bali and Namibia to lid and added a touch to smoke out the lower lash line. To line the eyes, I dipped a wet brush into NARS Matte Eyeshadow in Thunderball and applied it tightly to the lash line. Finally, I curled her lashes and applied a few coats of mascara using the Lancôme lash curler and Lancôme Custom Volume Hypnose Mascara in Black.

For her lips I first based and moisturized Maggie’s lips with Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm. Then I painted the lips with Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge waterproof lip color in #2 to ensure her lips stayed put all night. Lastly, I popped a highlight of nude peach at the center using Hourglass Lipstick in Grace.

She left looking sophisticated and sexy with tonal glow.”

GET THE LOOK! Recreate Idina Menzel’s Met Gala look!

The beautiful Idina Menzel attended the Met Gala last night, and she looked amazing! Celebrity makeup artist Kristofer Buckle did her makeup, and I have some tips for recreating her look – yourself!

Inspiration: “I wanted to create a romantic, yet classic old-Hollywood look to compliment Idina’s gown and hair. Anna Wintour requested Idina wear a ruby lip. When Anna speaks, we listen.” [Buckle]

Technique: “First, I prepped the skin with vbeauté Lite Up®, massaging the product over the entire face and letting it set for a minute or two. I love the texture of this serum; it’s great on skin that needs a little bit of a lift.

Next, I moisturized her skin with vbeauté Buying Time®, applying the lotion over her face, neck, décolletage, and shoulders, and gently dabbed vbeauté Eye Never® around her eyes. The moisturizers allowed the foundation, blush, and eyeshadow to go on a lot easier and helped me achieve a milky, glowing skin tone.

For her eyes, I wanted to focus more on the lash line as opposed to a heavy liquid liner to avoid a pinup look. I used Kiss Individual Eyelashes and a light taupe shadow to grab attention without taking away from the bold lip. I created arched brows by filling them in with a light brow pencil.

On the cheek bones, I used a soft, rosy blush, which went on a lot easier thanks to the serum and moisturizer. Finally, I used Laura Mercier Ruby lip liner and MAC lipstick in the Ruby Woo shade for the dramatic lip, as requested by Ms. Wintour.”

Buckle used the following products for Idina’s red carpet look:

Face vbeauté Lite Up® – Skin Lightening Serum vbeauté Buying Time® – Anti Aging Moisturizer

Eyes: vbeauté Eye Never® – Anti Aging Eye Cream

Kiss Individual Eyelashes

Lips: MAC lipstick in Ruby Woo, Laura Mercier Ruby lip liner

Get Rihanna’s gorgeous Met Gala look!

Rihanna attended the 2014 Met Gala last night in a gorgeous 2-piece gown by Stella McCartney.

The singer had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Mylah Morales.

“I wanted to give her a clean glowy face to match the clean lines of her dress. I prepped her skin with vbeauté Buying Time® everyday crème nourishing moisturizer all over her face. I then used vbeauté Undercover Agent®, an anti-wrinkle protecting serum that binds moisture to your skin to minimize redness and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. This gave me the perfect smooth palette to work with.

I focused on a strong brow by creating a different shape, drew it straighter than normally. I used a dark brow pencil to fill it in and finished it off with a brow crème to look it in place. Concealer foundation then powder to make her skin more flawless than it already is. To contour her face, I used a dark bronzer to contour and highlighter in her cheek area both by M.A.C. Cosmetics. I lined her eyes with the M.A.C. Pro Longwear Eye Liner in Definedly Black. For her eye lids, I used a taupe colored shadow all across pulling it out with the shape of her brow. Her look is finished with a splash of color by using a lilac colored lip lined with a pencil.”
