Laura Mercier for Jenny Packham: Fall/Winter 2012 NYC Fashion Week

Laura Mercier for Jenny Packham: Fall/Winter 2012 NYC Fashion Week

The Jenny Packham Autumn Winter 2012 collection reflects the mood of Film Noir, a genre of films characterized by dark mood lighting, and characters with even darker morals. In this collection, pretty pinks are brushed aside as blood red and Stanwyk silver hit the catwalk in the form of silk crepes, plunging necklines and figure-hugging silhouettes.

Talia Shobrook, the lead makeup artist for the show, leveraged the collection’s seductive colors and shapes to create a makeup look that “evoked the mystery of the era, but translated it for the modern day woman.”

FACE: According to Shobrook, “pale, dewy skin and hollowed cheekbones evocative of the Film Noir period were the foundations of the look.”

· Before applying Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation, Talia created the look of hollowed faces by applying dark shades of Laura Mericer Tinted Moisturizer Compact across the cheekbones (NEW: Available Fall 2012).

· She then applied Laura Mercier Primer Radiance on the nose, chin and cheekbones to create an illuminated, dewy effect on the skin.

LIPS: Shobrook then “modernized the era’s trademark blood red lips.”

· She first outlined the lips using a mixture of Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colours in Cocoa and Merlot and filled them with Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Pink Blush (NEW: Crème Smooth Lip Colours available Fall 2012). She then dabbed Laura Mercier Lip Plumper in Pink Pearl to the center of the lips to create a seductive sheen.

EYES: “Melodramatic and mysterious eye makeup that harks back to the soft focus effect of Film Noir camera lenses completed the look,” stated Shobrook.

· Talia created a seductive eye by sweeping Laura Mercier Luster Eye Colour in Starfruit across the brow bone and Laura Mercier Luster Eye Colour in Dusk across the lid, outer corner of the eye and under the lower lash line.

· She then accented the center of the lid with Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Violet Sky.

· Talia lined the entire eye with Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Brown Copper and blended it out with Laura Mercier Sequin Eye Colour in Tiger’s Eye.

Laura Mercier Flawless Face Collection Review

Laura Mercier’s amazing Flawless Face makeup collection, is comprised of  four pieces that can be used together or separately to create a truly Flawless Face.

My face has been giving me grief lately and I’m amazed how great my skin looks after using the Flawless Face collection. The best feature is that it doesn’t mask my skin with heavy makeup it simply diminishes the flaws and enhances my skin leaving the perfect canvas.

Foundation Primer – a clear gel it comes in five different formulas primes the face for longer lasting foundation.

Foundation Powder- Laura Mercier Foundation Powder is a wet/dry powder formulation that contains oil control ingredients to hinder shine.

Secret Camouflage – a palette containing two oil-free, long wearing concealers colors that you blend together to create your perfect shade.

Invisible Loose Setting Powder – a translucent oil-free and talc-free loose powder with a soft focus finish.

STEP 1: prime the skin – Foundation Primer

This is by far the best makeup foundation I’ve used. It glides on light  and dries quickly leaving my skin perfectly matte. I’m amazed at how well it hides my pores,  keeps the shine away all day. If I am in a rush a little primer and loose powder and my skin is perfected and I’m ready to go.

STEP 2: apply foundation – Foundation Powder

I usually stay away from powder foundations as I find they settle in my pores and wrinkles. Laura Mercier’s Foundation Powder is light and buildable and never “settled” into my pores. Just the tiniest bit smooths out my entire complexion and leaves my skin looking so great. This formula can be used wet or dry and it lasts forever, love makeup that keeps my skin looking great past lunch!

STEP 3: conceal – Secret Camouflage

Secret Camouflage comes in two shades  to create custom blending options just mix a bit on the back of your hand until the shade matches your skin tone. With a few strokes  my blemishes were nearly invisible. The color blending helped conceal my imperfections without looking “made up”.

STEP 4: set with powder – Loose Setting Powder

If you are constantly at war with your pores, Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder is your new best friend. A sheer powder it masks my pores and leaves my skin oil free. One of my favorite items it really creates a flawless look, and doesn’t distort the color of my makeup.
