Get The Look: Kate Beckinsale’s Total Recall Premiere Edgy, Undone Hair!

Celebrity hairstylist artist Mara Roszak created Kate Beckinsale’s look for last night’s Total Recall premiere in Los Angeles. Taking inspiration from Kate’s structured dress, Roszak created a texturized look for the red carpet. Roszak described Kate’s look as “edgy and undone, with an effortless feel.”

Get Kate’s look in three simple steps:

Step 1 – Prep and Texturize
Achieving the undone quality of Kate’s hair relies on creating texture while preventing flyaways. Start by evenly applying John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Styling Mousse ($5.99 at drugstores) through towel-dried hair to tame frizz, boost shine and build texture. For added volume, spray roots with a texturizing spray and rough dry.

Step 2 – Secure the Style
Next, twist small sections of hair to create tousled texture. Once hair is completely dry, gently tease the crown for a bit of height. Next, pull hair back create a loose braid. Tuck the ends under and pin in place with bobby pins, crossing the pins to secure the look and make sure the braid stays in place. Allow pieces in the front to fall out and frame the face.

Step 3 – Polish and Perfect
To finish the look, spray John Frieda Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm-Hold Hair Spray ($5.99 at drugstores) on your fingertips and pinch sections while rubbing your fingers together on the hair to add more texture and break up the look. Then in an even, all-around motion, mist a thin coat of hair spray to set the look.

Smash Star Megan Hilty’s Haircolor Secret!

How many times have you looked at your favorite celebrity on the red carpet and wished you could have her seemingly perfect hair color?  Well, the secret is out… not every celeb spends her day trapped in the salon; some simply stop by their local drugstore.  In fact, Megan Hilty of NBC’sSmash was recently spotted picking up a box of John Frieda’s Precision Foam Colour in shade 10N.

With Precision Foam Colour’s 30 shades of salon-quality, custom-blended color, you too can have the amazing color and coverage you see on your favorite stars.

“In the past, I’ve always advised clients against trying at-home color because it’s impossible to get that same even coverage that colorists can achieve at the salon,” explains Harry Josh, John Frieda International Creative Consultant. “Particularly during the summer, I see my clients wanting to change and lighten their current shade. With Precision Foam Colour, they can easily get flawless color, and there’s no way to tell that they didn’t just leave the salon.”
