Get the Look: Camila Alves at the Critics’ Choice Awards‏

19th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards - Arrivals

Brazilian beauty Camila Alves sizzled on tonight’s Critics’ Choice Awards red carpet with a sleek and chic knot by NYC-based celebrity hairstylist Peter Butler.

Here, Butler breaks down Camila’s hairstyle:

  1. First, Butler applied John Frieda Frizz Ease Curl Reviver Mousse to Camila’s wet hair and blew it dry. He applied a couple drops of new John Frieda Frizz Ease Nourishing Oil Elixir to smooth out frizz for ultimate sleek locks.
  2. Next, he parted her hair down the center. For the cleanest part possible, he used a flat iron at the hairline.
  3. Then, Butler applied a few drops of John Frieda Frizz Ease Expert Finish Polishing Serum and ran a comb through Camila’s hair to make it as sleek as possible as he shaped it into a low ponytail. For added shine he misted John Frieda Frizz Ease 100% Shine Glossing Mist. An expert tip is to spray hairspray onto a haircolor brush and comb hair from root to ends for an even, sleek look.
  4. Lastly, using three large pins, Butler twisted hair into an off-center knot around the base of the ponytail, leaving the ends out. To lock in style, he sprayed John Frieda Frizz Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray.

John Frieda Volume & Body Salon Shine Hair Dryer

450

If you are short on space or need a great travel dryer you need to check out the John Frieda Salon Shine Compact Hair Dryer. Its quite a bit smaller than your standard hair dryer but still has the ability to get the job done. I like that it has multiple settings,  low/cool for fine or thin hair and low/warm for average to thick hair and high/hot for thick, coarse hair. I have a lot of hair but decided to try the low cool setting because my hair is very fine. The dryer was easy to hold and maneuver for a good blow out. Once I was done drying my hair I used the Cool Shot button to set my hair.

After I was done, I noticed a definite shine to my hair. I have used shine products in the past but this is the best shine I have ever got from a hair dryer. I think using the cool setting helped dry my hair without overdrying my fine hair. Not only did my hair look shinier but it was also frizz free all day. This is one great little hair dryer and you can’t beat the price.

Get The Look: Selena Gomez’s Sleek Hair with John Frieda Hair Care

2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Red Carpet

Glitz and glamour took the MTV Video Music Awards’ red carpet by storm last night and Selena’s look was no exception. Hairstylist Lona Vigi created a sleek style for the brunette beauty that complemented her chic yet risqué corset top Versace dress.

To recreate this look, follow these steps from Lona using products from John Frieda Frizz-Ease.

To begin, Lona combined John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Original Formula ($9.99 at drugstores) with Straight Fixation Smoothing Crème ($6.99 at drugstores) to wet hair. This cocktail gave Selena’s hair a silky smooth straight look that not only kept frizz at bay throughout the long night, but also helped to impart a shine that lasts.

Using the Harry Josh Pro Tools Pro Dryer 2000, Lona blew Selena’s hair out straight as the base for her style. Lona recommends to flip the hair over and concentrate on drying at the root in order to keep the look from falling.

Sectioning off the hair, Lona then blew each section dry, with an Ibiza round brush to create a little body.

After the hair is completely dry, John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Crème ($6.99 at drugstores) was applied to create a silky, shiny finish.

Lastly, Lona’s trick for any strays and long-lasting finish – Using the John Frieda Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray ($5.99 at drugstores), spray a small amount on an clean mascara wand and glide over the front sections that frame the face and comb the hair outwards along your part. This is a great trick to rid your look of any stray or fly away hairs.
