7 Tips for Flip-Flop & Fabulous Feet!

Shedding your shoes for the summer is so liberating! Yet, it comes with the risk of exposing your toes and feet to hot and potentially harmful elements. Renowned podiatrist Dr. Alphonse Tribuiani, co-inventor of Deep Cover Nail System™ (www.DeepCoverSystems.com), the world’s first high-fashioned nail polish designed to prevent, treat, and heal unsightly finger and toe nail fungus, shares his top 7 tips for keeping your feet in tip-top and healthy shape all through the summer:

7 Tips for Flip-Flop & Fabulous Feet!

Tip 1: Protect bare feet or exposed feet and toes with a minimum SPF 50 (yes, 50) moisturizing sunscreen with vitamin A and E;

Tip 2: Pumice your soles with exfoliating creams. Avoid stones and graters—they are breeding grounds for fungus;

Tip 3: BYOP (Bring Your Own Polish) to nail salons and spas. (Sharing bottles = infections);

Tip 4: If you’ve gotta wear super-skimpy sandals, choose ones with better support and balance for your feet;

Tip 5: If you want callous-free feet, don’t walk barefoot! (Insert cushions into shoes, too.);

Tip 6: Cut toenails straight across, not rounded. Rounded nails are entryways to infections; and

Tip 7: Always use foot powder, even when wearing socks! (After removing socks, don’t forget to free your feet and toes of all sock lint.)

Watch the makeup tutorial that has attracted 1.5 million views – how to apply makeup when you’re drunk!

This might be the highlight of my day. I’m not going to lie, I might have watched it twice.

Have you ever been put in the situation where you need to apply makeup while drunk? (Me either) Well anyway, it makes for an absolutely HILARIOUS video, one that’s already been viewed by more than 1.5 million people!

Jenna Mourey, an American YouTube personality who is known as Jenna Marbles, has uploaded a hilarious video of herself applying make-up and offering step-by-step advice while claiming to be drunk. It has received 1.5 million hits.

The 25-year-old from Santa Monica is shown attempting to apply false eyelashes, liquid eyeliner, lip liner and other cosmetics to her face in what is likely to be a video that pokes fun at the unpolished make-up often seen on inebriated women.

The video, which was uploaded on Wednesday and is littered with profanity, shows the Boston University graduate present a plastic cup filled with an unspecified liquid to the camera before getting to work on touching-up her face.

She is seen slurring at the camera: ‘Nobody really talks about how hard it is, if you go, like, day-drinking and then everyone’s like “yeah alright, rally in a few hours and then let’s go out”… how f***ing impossible it is to put make-up on and get ready when you’re drunk.’

T.G.I.F.!!

My absolute favorite line: “If you can’t move your brush, just move your face!”

How To: Create a Fishtail Braid

The team at The Beauty Department have a great how-to video on how to create a fishtail braid. I have been playing with my hair trying to get it right and this video makes it a lot easier to see the step by step process. In just 2 tries I am pretty happy how my braid turned out, now to buy some tiny clear elastics!

The hardest thing about doing a fishtail braid on yourself is getting it started. In this video, I’m giving you one of my favorite secret tricks… start with a clear elastic then cut it out at the end. By starting with a clear elastic at the top, you never have to worry about holding 4 confusing pieces together to get your braid going. You can just go straight into it!

Tools: 2 clear elastics, scissors, patience.

Steps:

For a smoother braid, brush your hair out first. For a messier braid, leave the natural texture and separate the hair with your fingers.
Create a ponytail using a clear elastic.
Split the ponytail into two separate pieces.
Take a piece from the first side and pass it to the 2nd side.
Next take a piece from the 2nd side and pass it back to the 1st side.
Once you’ve finished your braid, go in with your scissors and CAREFULLY cut the clear elastic at the top.
Optional: gently pull on the pieces to loosen it up if you wish!
When you’re fishtail braiding, don’t think too hard! You’re simply making X’s. Also, remember that when you take the little piece from one side and pass it to the other side, you don’t need to keep track of it.

When the summer hits in a few months and temperatures start rising it will be time to bare more skin. If you want glowing beautiful skin your body needs proper prepping. Follow these head-to-toe tips and have beautiful summer ready skin. Here are some ideas to soothe and smooth veins, avoid flaky skin, conquer shaving mishaps, exfoliate, moisturize, etc.

Soft Touchable Skin: Exfoliate exfoliate, exfoliate aim for once or twice a week. When you remove the dead skin it helps you get rid of sallow complexion on your face and body, revealing new skin. Be sure to choose fine grain formulas and focus on your bodies most oily and dry parts. Remember to always moisturize after, post exfoliation your skin will be ready to drink in some extra moisture.

Hide Spider Veins:
If you don’t have the time (or money) to visit the Dr. for a permanent solution to spider veins there are a few things you can do to cover them up. There are numerous cosmetics made purely for covering up veins and offer long lasting coverage, You can also use airbrush leg products they work similar to panty hose to smooth out your legs but you simply spray it on. Finally a great tan will help diminish the look of spider veins try a spray tan or one of the many great products to give yourself and airbrushed tan at home.

Achieve a Perfect Shave: You want to let your skin soften from the heat and moisture of your shower or bath, never shave on dry skin. Exfoliate prior to shaving to remove any dead skin that will clog your razor. Try out one of the many great shave creams it can be men’s or women’s formula these will help protect your skin and get you the closest shave. Experiment with different razors there is a perfect one for everyone be bold and try different styles until you find your match. Remember to change your cartridge, a dull blade can lead to nicks.

 Sun-Kissed Face: There is nothing sexy about forgetting your sunscreen and intentionally burning your skin. As summer nears you can try a sunless tanner for your face to slowly achieve the perfect glow. Bronzer can help you deepen your skin tone without the damage. Your goal is to be sun-kissed, not over done,  apply your bronzer sparingly apply the product  where you would normally get hit by the sun first: cheeks, nose, and a bit on the forehead.

Smooth Feet and Heels: Before bed saturate your feet and heels in lotion and put on a lightweight pair of socks to hold the moisture in. When you are in the shower use a loofah or washcloth to buff the top layer of skin on your feet helping remove any dull, dry skin.

Above all else don’t forget the sunscreen, use it everyday to ensure you have many beautiful skin summers to come!
