Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle makes its first foray into the hair category with the introduction of a hair mist in one of the brand’s most popular fragrances: Carnal Flower.
Lighter than the Carnal Flower fragrance, thus particularly suited as an alternative, Brume Pour Cheveux also contains an ingredient which protects hair from drying.
Malle worked with perfumer Dominique Ropion to produce Carnal Flower in 2005, thus creating a unique fragrance for women who seek ultimate lavishness that is today seen as a landmark in perfumery. Developed using watery green notes with spicy Eucalyptus and Tuberose Absolute, Carnal Flower is Ropion’s interpretation of an “olfactory Himalaya.”
‘Cougar Town’ actress Busy Philipps has dyed her hair – and posted a picture of it on her Instagram account! She wrote, “Peach Ponytail! Can you tell? Last week, I felt like a mermaid. Today, I feel like a My Little Pony. I’m clearly trying to recapture my childhood with my hair.”
I think it’s adorable – and summery. What do you think? Would you dye your hair peach?
Clairol Professional Colorist Nico of NYC’s Mizu Salon provides his must-know tips to get you and your readers hair color ready for summer. From hair color application methods to maintenance and protection techniques, he’s got you covered.
Have any questions or would like to interview Nico, please let me know!
Tip #1: “Before spending a day in the sun, slick hair back with a leave-in conditioner that contains SPF. This will protect the hair while intensely nourishing it.”
Tip #2: “Products with low pH levels- between 4.5 and 5.5- are safe for your hair color. Anything with a higher pH will strip your color.”
Tip #3: “If you’re a blonde and don’t have time or money to visit the salon every 4-6 weeks, use Clairol Professional Shimmer Lights Shampoo and Conditioner. These products are great for preventing brassy tones and maintaining vibrancy in even the palest of blondes.” (Clairol Professional Shimmer Lights, $8.99, clairolpro.com)
Tip #4: “A big trend we’re seeing this summer is dipped ends in fun, bright colors. If your ends are already light and you want to add a pop of pink, blue, etc., dip them in a semi-permanent color like Clairol Professional Jazzing for a bright hue without the damage.” (Clairol Professional Jazzing, $5.99, clairolpro.com)
Tip #5: “Shampoo less or try a dry shampoo to keep your color looking radiant for longer!”
Tip #6: “To maintain bright blonde locks during the summer, anticipate the effects of sun, saltwater and chlorine on your hair. Consider getting a gloss treatment post-color service for a protective shell. This gloss will be first the first layer to wear down, which will keep your hue intact for longer.”
Tip #7: “To protect your hair color from pool and salt water damage, rinse your hair immediately after getting out of the water.”
Tip #8: “One of my favorite products to protect radiant color and to enhance your hair’s health is a color safe leave-in conditioner. What works for you may not work for your best friend, but there is a great color safe product out there for everyone with color treated hair.”
Going blonde is a powerful thing… just ask actress and TV personality Stacy Keibler. She is going blonder with John Frieda Hair Care to benefit HAIRraising, a fundraising initiative that supports the Children’s Hospital Boston.
“It may seem silly, but I believe in the power of blonde! When I start to crave that light, bright blonde fix between salon visits, I touch up my hair with John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Shampoo, Conditioner and Controlled Lightening Spray,” says Stacy. “In just five uses, I notice it gives me the natural, sun-kissed blonde I crave and helps blend my roots.”
To achieve her lighter, brighter blonde and foster a brighter future for children, Stacy uses Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray, a breakthrough formula that gradually lightens and brightens blonde tones. The point-and-spray formula gives you complete control, letting you choose where you want to lighten up and how light you want to go.

SHU UEMURA ART OF HAIR is thrilled to unveil VOLUME MAKER, the first precision hair powder brush containing an invisible powder that offers instant volume, texture and lift at the roots. Inspired by Mr. Shu Uemura’s rich cosmetics heritage, VOLUME MAKER is a tribute to his legacy and brings to the hair industry a new creative styling aide that fuses an innovative formula with a precision brush applicator. The powerful combination of this advanced tool and product provides endless benefits including one-of-a-kind lift and fullness, root volume, long-lasting hairstyles and much more.
BEHIND THE PACKAGING: PRECISION
True to the Master of Beauty’s philosophy that technique is key to beauty, VOLUME MAKER allows for delicate amounts of powder to gently stroke the hair resulting in precise, made-to-measure texture and volume. The packaging, inspired by makeup brushes, offers an artistic approach to hair via precision and technique. VOLUME MAKER is simple enough to be used for advanced styles as well as on-the-go touch-ups.
ENDLESS BENEFITS: A UNIVERSAL STYLER
VOLUME MAKER offers an infinite palette of styling and benefits, including but not limited to:
* Instant root volume
* Amplified shape
* Longer lasting styles – great for blow outs and greasy hair in need of controlling oily scalps
* Creative styling
* Texture for modern up-dos
* Used throughout the day as a touch-up product or blow-dry refresher
INNOVATIVE FORMULA: THE POWDER’S SECRET
State of the art texturizing polymers encapsulated in micro-particles are so small that they allow for a large surface of adhesion on the hair’s surface. This allows the texture to spread across the roots and support the hair’s most intricate areas while still keeping the powder invisible.
The unique packaging offers clients and stylists the ability to tailor the volume to their individual needs:
* Press button three times and brush onto root area of dry hair where volume is desired
* Distribute with circular gestures
* Back comb the powdered area to optimize the volume/structure
* Can be used alone or in conjunction with other styling offerings
* Touch up to refresh your style
* Creative hair dressing
Volume Maker will be sold in salons in June and is available for pre-order here.
