This Month’s Best Beauty Buys, by Marie Claire!

SPACE FACE
I’m hooked on the ethereal, soft-focus finish of La Mer Treatment Powder Foundation, $90. Fittingly, its base ingredient is Airgel, a literally weightless material used by NASA.

GOLDEN GIRLS
To soften the edgiest makeup looks, Lancome’s Aaron De May cleverly borrows a stroke from Renaissance painters, highlighting faces with gold—on cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, Cupid’s bow, or center of eyelids (my personal fave). Best gilty pleasures: Lancôme Poudre Liberté Highlighting Powder, $40, Sensai The Lipstick by Kanebo, $55, and Avon Anew Ultimate Age Repair Gold Emulsion, $36.

DOUBLE HEADER
Ouidad Double Detangler, $24, is designed to gently unfurl ringlets. But I found it also effortlessly rakes deep conditioner through my long straight hair, pre-swim, making it my new beach-bag staple.

RED EYE
Runway Dorothy-worthy ruby eyeshadow, sparkling up models’ lids at Prada.
Reality Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Red Iron mascara, $28, and palette, $58, serving up vibrant yet flattering crimson shades that most of us can pull off (seriously). The exception: pale blondes (you’ll want to avoid the albino bunny look).

THE BIG APPLES
My beauty crutch: heaps of blush. But fall’s high-drama eyes and shockingly bold lips demand a lighter touch. For a featherweight fix, Sonia Kashuk Super Sheer Liquid Tint, $9.99, serves up just the right dewy dose.

Katherine McPhee goes blonde for her new alubm!

newalbum500×375.jpg

Katharine McPhee is a born brunette, but for the cover shoot for her new album Unbroken, which hits stores October 6, the singer is trading her long brown locks for a sexy platinum shag — and she’s sharing the look exclusively with PEOPLE.

“My music is a little more edgy so that inspired me to be adventurous,” she explains of taking the leap to blonde with stylist Peter Savic. “I’ve never dyed my hair before so this was a pretty drastic change. I’ve always been known as a brunette but I’ve been thinking about it for a long time and it kind of just fit with all of the searching with the music and experimenting that I would do the same thing with my look.”

And she’s been noticing other effects of the new style as well. “The look has affected the way I dress, it’s inspired me to be more adventurous with what I decide to wear. It’s silly that something so simple as changing your hair could have such a big effect,” she muses. “I’m just having fun with it. This is a great time for me to do something different. I’m young — I always try to have a good time.” Learn more about Katharine’s new look in this week’s PEOPLE magazine, which hits stands today.

My Review: Living Proof, Frizz Shampoo & Conditioner

product_07_cropped.jpg

I recently tried these two new products from Living Proof, and I absolutely loved them! I have naturally frizzy hair, and finding shampoo and conditioners (forget about styling products) has always been very tricky for me. I’ve tried many different frizz-free shampoo and conditioners in the past, but nothing compares to these products.  My hair has never felt so healthy, and soft.  I can even let my hair dry without product (a no-no for me!) and I can see a drastic difference in the appearance of my hair.  Do yourself a favor, and give these products a try.  I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

no frizz shampoo and conditioner

for all hair types

Beautiful, frizz-free hair starts with properly cared for hair. No Frizz Shampoo features an exclusive sulfate-free surfactant system to effectively cleanse hair without harsh stripping. No Frizz Conditioner rehydrates even the most dry, damaged hair without silcones or oils. Together they deposit PolyfluoroEster – the same breakthrough technology as our styling product – onto the hair to effectively block humidity and reduce friction.

Finally, a complete system for hair that’s incredibly smooth, soft, and frizz-free.

How it Works.

Shampoo and Conditioner

Beautiful, frizz-free hair starts with hair that’s properly cared for. Just shampooing and conditioning your hair – two simple things you do everyday – can cause unwanted damage. Most shampoos on the market – even those that claim to be natural – contain sulfates: harsh drying detergents. These sulfates damage the hair – stripping it, and fading its color. They dry hair out and perpetuate the frizz cycle. The majority of conditioners today rely on silicones or oils which allow humidity to penetrate – leaving hair limp, greasy and just as frizzy as before.

New No Frizz shampoo and conditioners are formulated with no sulfates and silicones – relying upon entirely new technology to cleanse and hydrate even the driest, most damaged, frizz-prone hair – leaving it soft, shiny and, of course, frizz-free. And, they deposit PolyfluoroEster, the breakthrough secret ingredient in our No Frizz styling line, onto the hair so you can say good-bye to frizzy hair days forever.
