Procter & Gamble Recalls 10 Clairol Natural Instincts Hair Color Shades

If you use Clairol Natural Instincts to dye your hair – take notice! Proctor & Gamble has recalled 10 shades of Clairol Natural Instincts.

According to Stylist the company was alerted in late March that something went awry with their popular hair color line. Someone who had used the product contacted P&G after they experienced an unwanted color result, spokesman Brent Miller told StyleList.

After investigating the claims, P&G discovered that the ColorFresh! Revitalizer — a refresher that is applied two weeks after the initial color to enhance the hair’s tone — was mismatched in 10 Natural Instincts hair color kits.

The shades recalled include:
• Natural Instincts Shade 16 Light Auburn (Spiced Tea)
• Natural Instincts Shade 35 Brown Black (Ebony Mocha)
• Natural Instincts Creme Shade 03G Light Golden Blonde (Honey Creme)
• Natural Instincts Creme Shade 7.5 Dark Blonde (Maple Creme)
• Natural Instincts Creme Shade 21G Medium Golden Brown (Caramel Creme)
• Natural Instincts Creme Shade 23R Medium Auburn (Raspberry Creme)
• Natural Instincts Creme Shade 30R Dark Auburn (Cherry Creme)
• Natural Instincts Creme Shade 31 Darkest Brown (Coffee Creme)
• Natural Instincts Vibrant Shade 9 Natural Light Blonde (Blonde Vibrance)
• Natural Instincts Vibrant Shade 10 Extra Light Blonde (Sun-Kissed Blonde)

However, P&G confirms that the hair color in the kit is correct and anyone who has purchased any of the products with the aforementioned shades is urged to toss it.

But don’t worry that you’re throwing away hard-earned dollars in the trash. The company is stepping up to the plate and issuing refunds and providing color correction services.

“The quality of our products and satisfaction of the women who use them is our top priority,” Miller told StyleList. “P&G corrected the issue and will have product back on the shelf in May 2011.”

Paramore’s Hayley Williams: I Want to Try Every Hair Color

Saying that Paramore’s Hayley Williams isn’t afraid to experiment when dyeing her hair is an understatement. “I want to try every color,” Williams told PEOPLE Monday at the ELLE Women in Music celebration in Hollywood. “I’ve done a little bit of blue, I did pink, blonde, I did purple, orange.” Although she’s sported a rainbow of hair hues, Williams was working a fiery red at the event, matching her nails and complementing her black-and-white Kimberly Ovitz dress. “I always go back to red because this just feels like me,” the 22-year-old singer explained. “You have to go with your gut every time.” And though Williams is a platinum recording artist in the public eye, she’s not afraid to dye her own hair once in a while. “Not every time, because I like to keep it really healthy, but if I’m feeling it and I want to do it now, I just go get a box at Walmart!”

How to make your haircolor last!

I colored my hair last week, and I love it so much, I never want it to fade! So how do I keep the color longer? Here are some tips from SheKnows!

1. Wait a few days after your last shampoo before heading to the salon. Natural oils on your scalp (that you wash away when you shampoo) help color penetrate hair follicles. Waiting a day or two after your last shampoo before you apply color also helps protect your scalp from irritation — which can happen if you have sensitive skin.

2. Go as long as you can without shampooing after color is applied, too. This gives tresses time to absorb color completely. If you wash your hair too soon, any color that hasn’t been absorbed yet goes down the drain (literally). And that means your color will fade sooner than if you’d waited.

3. Your color fades slightly with every shampoo, in part because of the sulfates some shampoos contain. Aim to wash your hair every other day — less often, if you can.

4. Opt for a shampoo and conditioner formulated for color-treated hair, which help protect it from the sun and pollutants that can cause premature fading. Some also help boost your hue temporarily by depositing just enough color to revive your shade. Avoid shampoo and conditioner that contain sulfates or sodium chloride, which can break down and fade color. Take a look at our picks for the best products for color treated hair.

5. Hair treatments involving chemicals, such as perms, relaxers and straighteners, can wreak havoc on your brand new hue. They can dry out your hair (a no-no if you want color to last), alter your color and speed the fading process.

6. When you’re in the shower or rinsing your hair, avoid very hot water; it has a tendency to strip your hair and dry it out. If you can stand it, rinse your hair with cold water once before getting out of the shower. This helps close the cuticle and makes your hair smooth and glossy — plus, you won’t need coffee to wake you up!

7. Moisturized hair maintains color a lot longer than dry, brittle hair. Minimize your use of of blow dryers, flat irons and curling irons to help keep hair from drying out. Deep condition your hair once a week for added hydration. Soften hair with these deep conditioning secrets.

Evan Rachel Wood Debuts New Honey-Blond Hair

Evan Rachel Wood made quite the statement at the ‘Mildred Pierce’ premiere in New York City last night when she hit the red carpet rocking newly honey-blond hair.

We’re still gasping from the drastic hair color transformation.

The 23-year-old actress ditched her famous magenta-red hair for a much lighter blond hue. But she wore her signature Veronica Lake-inspired waves and dark lipstick, maintaining a bit of familiarity.

We love how Wood paired her new honey hairdo with a plum, long-sleeved jersey Elie Saab gown and vintage-style earrings. And her milky complexion, perfectly arched brows, winged liner and perfect flush rounded out her red carpet look.

Wood plays the daughter of Kate Winslet’s character in the upcoming HBO mini-series, and the risqué role called for the young actress’s first nude scene. But lucky for Wood, her co-star has stripped down on film several times before and was there to lend support.

“She coached me through my first nude scene,” Wood told E! News at Monday evening’s premiere. “I mean, she’s done it all. She was literally next to the camera going [thumbs-up].”
