Actress Malin Akerman made her mark at the 2013 Emmy Awards last night. Below, Celebrity Makeup Artist Fiona Stiles shares her tips and techniques for creating her beautiful look.

Face & Cheeks:

“First, I applied Armani Luminous Silk Foundation all over Malin’s face and Armani High Touch Precision Retouch Concealer under her eyes. Next, I used Chanel Les Beiges on her face and contoured below her cheekbones. Then, I applied MAC Sheertone Blush in Coygirl on the apples of her cheeks and blended upwards. To highlight, I brushed mark That’s Brilliant Face Luminizer along the bridge of her nose and cheekbones.

“I began by applying Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Shadow all over Malin’s eye lids and then went over that color with a layer of mark I-mark Wet/Dry Eyeshadow in Moonshine. Along her upper and lower lash line, I applied mark No Place To Run Longwear Eyeliner in Steely Gaze and smudged it into her lashes with a flat eyeliner brush. Next, I applied mark I-mark Wet/Dry Eyeshadow in Storming over the eyeliner. Then I brushed on mark I-mark Wet/Dry Eyeshadow in Lava on the outer corners of her eyes and blended out to create a soft cat-eye. I finished her eyes by applying Anastasia Brow Pen to the brows and three coats of mark Scanda-Lash Go-To Mascara in Blackest Black to the lashes.

“To complete the look, I patted mark’s Lipclick Full Color Lipstick in Baby Luv onto her lips for a matte finish.”

Get The Look: Kerry Washington at the Emmys

Emmys 2013 - Kerry Washington low res

On Scandal, Kerry Washington is known for her tailored white ensembles and hard-boiled demeanor, but at Sunday’s Primetime Emmy Awards, the actress revealed an infinitely more romantic side. Complementing Washington’s blush-colored Marchesa gown was an equally ethereal makeup look by Hourglass. “The inspiration came from the delicate dress,” says makeup artist Carola Gonzalez, who combined velvety matte skin, purple lids and luminous cheeks for a look that was as pretty as the floral embroideries on Washington’s gown. “Although I like a matte finish, especially for awards shows, I added a radiance to her skin with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light. It’s the perfect shade for Kerry.”

Here’s how to replicate the look:

Hourglass - Visionaire Eye Shadow in Exhibition

COMPLEXION: Prime the skin with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, and follow with Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation in warm beige. “I’m really impressed with the airbrushed finish this foundation creates,” says Gonzalez. “And I really don’t need to use powder anymore.” Conceal any imperfections with Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer in honey.

BROWS: Define the brows with Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Dark Brunette.

EYES: Apply the mauve shimmer shade from Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Exhibition to the inner corner of the eyes and the lids, and the eggplant shimmer shade to the outer edge of the eye and beneath the bottom lash line. Blend the two shades together. Apply Ardell Natural Lashes in 110, line the eyes with Hourglass Script Precision Liner in Jett, and finish off with three coats of Hourglass Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara.

CHEEKS: Apply Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light on the cheekbones, forehead, nose and chin. Apply Lancôme Blush Subtil in Sparkling Rose to the apples of the cheeks and sweep towards the temples.

LIPS: Prep lips earlier with Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil for superior hydration. Apply Hourglass Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss in Truth, a beige rose, for the finishing touch.

Get The Look: Selena Gomez’s Sleek Hair with John Frieda Hair Care

2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Red Carpet

Glitz and glamour took the MTV Video Music Awards’ red carpet by storm last night and Selena’s look was no exception. Hairstylist Lona Vigi created a sleek style for the brunette beauty that complemented her chic yet risqué corset top Versace dress.

To recreate this look, follow these steps from Lona using products from John Frieda Frizz-Ease.

To begin, Lona combined John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Original Formula ($9.99 at drugstores) with Straight Fixation Smoothing Crème ($6.99 at drugstores) to wet hair. This cocktail gave Selena’s hair a silky smooth straight look that not only kept frizz at bay throughout the long night, but also helped to impart a shine that lasts.

Using the Harry Josh Pro Tools Pro Dryer 2000, Lona blew Selena’s hair out straight as the base for her style. Lona recommends to flip the hair over and concentrate on drying at the root in order to keep the look from falling.

Sectioning off the hair, Lona then blew each section dry, with an Ibiza round brush to create a little body.

After the hair is completely dry, John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Crème ($6.99 at drugstores) was applied to create a silky, shiny finish.

Lastly, Lona’s trick for any strays and long-lasting finish – Using the John Frieda Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray ($5.99 at drugstores), spray a small amount on an clean mascara wand and glide over the front sections that frame the face and comb the hair outwards along your part. This is a great trick to rid your look of any stray or fly away hairs.
