Get The Look: Lea Michele 2012 MET Ball

All eyes were on Lea Michele when she stepped onto the red carpet at the 2012 MET Ball yesterday evening. Celebrity Makeup Artist Melanie Inglessis was the visionary behind the starlet’s glamorous beauty look. Melanie put the focus on Lea’s eyes by lining them with a deep plum liner and then layered copper toned eye shadows on the actress’s lids. Using a soft crease brush, she blended the edges of the liner with the shadow to create definition and give that smokey eye effect. Melanie then upped the drama by swiping a dark eye shadow over the liner and added two coats of black mascara for a finishing touch.

To offset the intensity of the eyes, Melanie kept the rest of Lea’s face simple: she added a rosy flush of color on her cheekbones and opted for a natural lip, using a lipstick only to enhance Lea’s own lip color.

Get The Look: Abbie Cornish MET Ball Beauty

Abbie Cornish looked radiant at the MET Ball in NYC last night! The gorgeous “Sucker Punch” star was all smiles as she walked the red carpet, confidently showing off an asymmetrical finger-waved updo created by celebrity stylist and Nexxus Creative Director Kevin Mancuso.

“I wanted the look to be effortless, but constructed at the same time,” said Mancuso. “To soften Abbie’s updo, I created classic finger waves, then shook them out for an ethereal, romantic finish.”

Kevin Mancuso shares these simple steps to recreate the look at home:

PREP:

· Apply a generous amount of Nexxus ProMend Split End Binding Bodifying Mousse all over damp hair to bind damaged ends back together while creating texture and body.

STYLE:

· Blow dry hair, massaging mousse in at the roots to increase volume.

· Use a medium round brush to smooth small sections of hair into velcro rollers for more body. Let rollers cool to set the curl while you apply makeup.

· Remove rollers and apply a small amount of ProMend Split End Binding Smoothing Shine Serum throughout for healthy, luminous shine.

· Now use a small barrel curling iron to create waves in the front section of your hair.

· Back comb the rest of your hair and spray with Nexxus Comb Thru Touchable Finishing Mist for extra support and light hold.

· Pin sections of hair up, working around to the back of your head, gently twisting and pushing up for volume.

· Gently finger tease to give hair a slightly fluffy, fuzzy finish.

FINISH:

· Spray hair with Nexxus Maxxium Superior Hold Finishing Mist to ensure the style stays put all night.

From the ELLE Interview:

“I suppose it’s a reflection of how my life has been,” says singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding of the breathy, sugar-coated edge of her electro-folk-pop hybrid. Growing up in bucolic Hereford, England, “all I had was my guitar,” says the 25-year-old, whose main venue was folk night at the local coffeehouse. Spotted by a scout at a music competition at her university, Goulding moved to London and fell into “a whole new world of electronic music.” The blitz that followed was literally anxiety attack inducing (“My heart just wouldn’t stop pounding,” she says): Her first effort, Lights, was the UK’s biggest and fastest-selling debut album of 2010; fan Prince William asked her to serenade his nuptials; and by 2011, she was playing sold-out arenas on tour with Katy Perry. Her in-the-works second album will be more vocals-centric, orchestral, and “a lot more raw,” Goulding says. “Everything came so quickly the first time around, I think I found it hard to deal with. Now I’m ready to smash it.”—Maggie Bullock

I adore Ellie Goulding she is the star of my Spotify play lists> I am obsessed with ”The Writer” right now, beautiful song!

Laura Mercier at Marchesa Bridal Spring 2013 Runway Show

Face Chart:

INSPIRATION

For the Marchesa Bridal Spring 2013 Runway Show, Talia Shobrook, lead makeup artist for the show, was inspired by the fashionable and fresh Marchesa bride-to-be. The makeup look she created was whimsical and effervescent. By carefully selecting a palette of warm and diffused colours, she was able to develop the natural flush that people love for brides, evoking a woman that is both innocent and sensual.

FACE: According to Shobrook, “flawless skin with a fresh and dewy finish was the foundation of the look.”
· First, Talia mixed Laura Mercier Mega-Moisturizer Crème SPF 15 with Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance to add a subtle glow to the skin.
· She then covered under eye circles with Laura Mercier Secret Concealer and covered any spots or redness with Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage.

· Next, she applied Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation to the face.

· Lastly, she used Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder in the T-zone, for control shine, leaving the rest of the skin dewy and fresh.

EYES: According to Shobrook, “we chose to highlight the eye, to add to the allure that a bride’s sparkling eyes have on her wedding day.”

· First, Talia mixed Laura Mercier Sateen Eye Colours Stellar and Primrose and applied them on the lid from lashline to the crease.
· Next, she softly contoured the crease with Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Fresco.
· Using Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Ballet Pink, she dipped a Laura Mercier Fine Point Eye Liner Brush into water and swirled around the Eye Colour to pick up the product, then drew a line across the lashline, with a slight flick at the outer corner. The eyeliner should be thin, and bright.
· On the lower lashline, she used a Laura Mercier Flat Eye Liner Brush to apply Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Truffle just at the lashline and blended slightly to soften.
· Lastly, she finished with a layer of Laura Mercier Long Lash Mascara and another layer of Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Lash Building Mascara to the lashes in the center of the eye.

LIPS & CHEEKS: “By using the same product on the eyes and lips, we allow the fresh-faced bride to only have to carry one product for touch-ups. The creamy formula adds a lovely natural flush to the face,” Shobrook concluded.

· On the cheeks, Talia applied Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Mango (NEW, launching September 2012) to the apples of the cheeks and blended to give a natural flush in the face. The result is a creamy smooth natural cheek color.
· The look was finished with the punchy Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Mango (NEW, launching September 2012) blended onto the lips as well.
