Gwen Stefani’s Disheveled French Twist
“This Disheveled French Twist can be as casual a look as you like, to dress up or simply where slightly disheveled to tone down your evening wear.” – Jenny Balding

  • Start with day old hair as you’ll have some texture in your hair and it will be easier to manage
Use dry shampoo to really boost the texture of your roots (Redken Pillow Proof dry shampoo is excellent).
  • Spray throughout your roots and even the mid-lengths to create body and texture. Shake through with your fingers.
  • Use a light hairspray for a little hold – Redken Fashion Work 12 Versatile Hairspray works best as it is a versatile spray. Mist over all and shake up with your hands to really create body and movement.
  • Section out the crown and front area and pin to one side.
  • Sweep the sides and back together and then twist upwards and pin. Make sure to use hairpins (U shaped pins) so they can really anchor the hair.
  • Take the top section , brush lightly, then let it drop gently to one side
  • Loosen the hairline a little with your fingers to work suits your face shape.
  • To finish, add a little shine by misting Redken Diamond Oil High Shine Airy Mist all over – this is very light but gives just the right amount shine you need.

Jessie J’s Sleek Bob
“The sleek bob compliments an interesting outfit as it has cleans lines and a sleek finish giving a more creative edge.” – Jenny Balding

  • Part your hair to whichever side suits your face shape best.
  • Blow dry really smooth and straight to create the sleek effect.
  • To create a really sleek finish, use a straightening iron from midlength to ends.
  • Finish by using Redken Diamond Oil High Shine Airy Mist to create the ultimate shine

Get the Look: Reese Witherspoon at the SAG Awards

Reese Witherspoon
21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards
January 25, 2015
Look by Celebrity Makeup Artist Molly R. Stern

Celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern created a “sultry” look for Reese Witherspoon, a nominee in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role category for her performance in “Wild.”

Stern was inspired by the “smoldering beauties of film noir” and balanced “rich Bordeaux” colours on the eyes and lips with “bright and flushed skin.”

FACE: Bright, flushed and photo-ready skin

  • Stern first applied Caudalie Eau De Beaute Beauty Elixer, ($49) to invigorate Witherspoon’s skin. Next, she massaged Natura Bisse The Cure Pure Serum, ($260) to give her skin vibrancy and hydration.
  • Then, Stern applied NEW Laura Mercier Silk Crème Moisturizing Photo Edition Foundation in Cream Ivory, $48 to ensure Witherspoon’s complexion was “sheer, dewy and lustrous.”
  • Using Kjaer Weiss Cream Blush in Lovely, ($56),Stern “heated up” the apples of Witherspoon’s cheeks, giving off a “radiant glow.”

EYES: Matte, earthy look

  • For Witherspoon’s eye look, Stern opted for a “matte earthy wine all over the lids and smoked out underneath the lash line.”
  • She first created a base using Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Blaze, ($25). She then applied Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Truffle, ($24), which she described as rich brown shadow, over the base to give the eye “a depth of color.” Stern topped off the eye look with a brighter shadow – Makeup For Ever Artist Shadow – Matte Finish in Morello Cherry, ($21).
  • Next, she tightly lined Witherspoon’s upper and lower lash line using Laura Mercier Crème Eye Liner in Espresso, ($24).Lastly, Stern curled the actress’ lashes with the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, ($29), and coated her lashes twice using Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara in Black, ($25).

LIPS: Rich, Bordeaux colour

  • To complete the look, Stern used Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Cocoa, ($27) as a base and brightened and enriched the color by applying NEW Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in Orchid Pink ($28, March 2015). To give an “added punch,” she applied NEW Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in Vermillion Red, ($28, March 2015) to the center of the lips.
  • Finally, she topped Witherspoon’s lip look withLaura Mercier Lip Glacé in Black Cherry, ($25) to give “depth and sheen.”

Get The Look: Jenna Dewan Tatum in Pür Minerals at the 2015 Golden Globes

Jenna Dewan Tatum in Pür Minerals at the 2015 Golden Globes

Celebrity makeup artist, Jake Bailey, gave Jenna Dewan Tatum a glowing, natural look to blend into the palette of her stunning lemon chiffon dress. Bailey wanted to give Tatum a golden, neutral look that wouldn’t compete with her gown.

Bailey started by prepping the skin with the Dior Capture Totale Multi-Perfection Crème. He applied the Pür Minerals Air Perfection CC Cushion Compact Foundation in Medium for a flawless finish, allowing a natural glow to come through. He then put the Pür Minerals Chateau Cheeks Cream Blush in Coy followed by a small amount of Nars Loose Powder in Beach. Bailey also added Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder in Candlelight on the bridge of her nose, cheekbones and brow bones to add depth to her natural glow.

Next, Bailey wanted to use a plum shadow to make the green in her eyes pop. He used several shades from the Pür Minerals Soul Mattes Eye Shadow Palette to apply the eggplant shade on the lid and the taupe shade around the edges to create that smokey, sultry look.

“I then used the Pür Minerals Eye Defining Pencil in Onyx along the lash line to really define her eyes,” says Bailey. He applied the Troy Surratt Brow Pencil and Anastasia Brow Gel on her brows and finished with a few coats of the Pür Minerals Big Look Waterproof Mascara on the lashes.

Lastly, Bailey applied the LaMer Lip Balm as a base to the lips, followed by the Pür Minerals Chateau de Vine Mineral Lipstick in Georgia Peach and a pop of the Chateau Lip Gloss in Scandalous.
