Marie Antoinette’s signature fragrance now available!

Want to smell like a queen? You can smell like famous queen Marie Antoinette!

Last week — appropriately on Bastille Day — French perfume house Lubin launched Black Jade, a fragrance that was exclusively created for Marie Antoinette. The scent, originally formulated by royal perfumer Jean-Louis Fargeon, was an homage to the queen’s rose-filled gardens in Versailles. Antoinette kept a small vial of the fragrance with her at all times, even right up until her death. According to Luca Turin in The Secret of Scent, it was her unmistakable perfume that gave away her disguise as she fled the palace.

Black Jade (a blend of bergamot, cardamom, rose, jasmine, incense, cinnamon, sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, tonka bean and amber) is now available at Aedes De Venustas in New York.

Aren’t you interested in smelling it? I know I am!

FIRST LOOK! Taylor Swift’s New Fragrance!

Taylor Swift is no stranger to finding a creative outlet for her emotions, so its no surprise she’s channeling some of those feelings into her own perfume! After announcing last fall she would debut her first signature fragrance in collaboration with Elizabeth Arden, now the details of her new scent, Wonderstruck, have finally been released. “Wearing perfume is such a unique way to create memories. Like songs, a scent can take you back and allow you to relive a moment in time,” Swift said. And everything from the perfume’s name to the specific ingredients of the scent were drawn from Swift’s personal life experiences. “I wrote the lyric, ‘I’m wonderstruck, blushing all the way home,’ for the song ‘Enchanted’ about the first time you meet someone,” she said. “A fragrance can help shape someone’s first impression and memory of you. It’s exciting to think that Wonderstruck will play a role in creating some of those memories.” Swift will help shape those memories with a gourmand floral scent, boasting notes of vibrant fruits including raspberry and apple blossom, with notes of golden amber and sandalwood.

Rachel Weisz’s new ads for Bulgari!

She has Italian in her blood.

So actress Rachel Weisz is the perfect pick for Bulgari’s latest fragrance campaign.

Clutching a bottle of Jasmin Noir scent and draped in diamonds the 41-year-old flashes some smouldering looks.

Shot by photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott who recently snapped Naomi Campbell for Gucci, Rachel is pictured alongside a live lion, one of the emblems of the luxury label.

These are preview images of the Los Angeles shoot with the full campaign revealed in August.

The mother-of-one joins the likes of actresses Julianne Moore and Kirsten Dunst who have previously modelled for Rome-based Bulgari.
A spokesperson for the brand which range includes watches, handbags, fragrances, accessories, and hotels said: ‘Rachel Weisz embodies the quintessential contemporary woman.

‘Her beauty, portrays simple yet extremely intriguing femininity.’

This isn’t the first time that the actress has fronted a perfume campaign as in 2006 she was chosen as the ambassador for Burberry’s London alongside Ioan Gruffudd.

At the time she said that perfumes with a sandalwood base were her favourite however Jasmin Noir has notes of gardenia petals, green sap and Sambac jasmine.

Although born in Westminster, London, Rachel’s mother, Edith is of Jewish and Italian descent.

This collaboration comes just weeks after news of her secret, New York wedding to Bond star Daniel Craig emerged.

The newly-weds will star together in the thriller Dream House released this autumn.

During her career Rachel has been featured on the cover of numerous magazines including Vogue and Esquire and was named L’Oréal’s global ambassador in 2010.

Eva Mendes for Theirry Mugler fragrance!

Eva Mendes has been named the new face of Thierry Mugler’s iconic fragrance, as well as fragrances to come.

The campaign–which was shot in Prague–features the actress (in a custom Mugler dress) singing with an orchestra. Though this wasn’t the initial concept for the commercial: When Mendes was prepping for the shoot she found inspiration by singing along to “The Windmills of Your Mind,” the song that was chosen for the campaign. Everyone on set loved it so much they decided to incorporate her singing into the commercial. Mendes will use her voice again when she stars as the famed opera soprano Maria Callas in an upcoming biopic. But singing isn’t a newly-acquired talent–if you’ll remember back to 1998, she was actually one of the convertible-driving girls in Will Smith’s at one time omnipresent “Welcome To Miami” video, chiming in with the occasional “Bienvenido a Miami.” While the commercial isn’t airing until September, we’ve got behind the scenes footage.

FIRST LOOK at Heidi Klum’s debut fragrance!

Heidi Klum, supermodel, mom, designer and ‘Project Runway’ host has created her first fragrance.

The 38-year-old’s signature fragrance is an oriental scent made of pink peppercorn, pear and mandarin, with hints of a mimosa absolute, sunflower, and lily of the valley heart; and musk cosmone, vanilla and Venezuelan tonka bean drydown.

That’s a mouthful!

“There are different moods that as a fragrance creator you can travel to,” Klum told WWD. “But for my first one, I wanted what I felt my staple would be. I wanted it to be sensual and feminine, but still luxurious and expensive-smelling – because I think there are so many perfumes out there that smell cheap and too sweet.”

The perfume is poured into a gold bottle with a clear, rounded wavy base, and the not too retouched ad campaign features Klum with a glimmer of light reflecting onto her wind-blown, blond strands as she gazes seductively at the camera.

“You can sell a dream, and you can sell a lifestyle that a woman aspires to have, but you can’t completely trick her,” Klum explained to WWD. “If people retouch me too much, I get upset – yes, you can help me out a little here and there, but don’t go overboard. I have one tooth that’s longer than another, and if you look at the [Shine] ad my snaggletooth is coming out a little bit – but I like that.”

Shine ($17 – $35) will debut in September.

I have to smell it – just to see how the heck they’re going to put all those scents together!

NEW AD: John Galliano and Taylor Momsen not a good combination in selling fragrance!

John Galliano’s anti-Semitic tirade happened months ago, but the scandal is still affecting the designers brand.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that Perfume Holding, the Franco-Italian company producing Galliano’s second fragrance Parlez-Moi d’Amour, is reevaluating its U.S. plan for the perfume. The launch is currently delayed stateside.

Retailers in Germany and Britain were hesitant about stocking the new fragrance. In Israel, unsurprisingly, the brand has suffered a great deal, and The Globe and Mail reported back in March that certain Canadian retailers had pulled the product from their shelves.

However, the drama surrounding the Galliano name has had little impact in France and Italy. Perfume Holding VP Brigitte Wormser told WWD that consumers there seem to have no issue with the brand itself, noting, “There are other brands whose namesake designer is no longer present, and who sell perfectly well.” She added, “Everyone knows John was sick at the time,” and compared the scenario to supermodel Kate Moss’ difficult time, saying, “We have all forgotten now that she messed up.”

Maybe. But another a possible strike against Parlez-Moi d’Amour might just be its spokesmodel, Taylor Momsen, whose less-than-stellar reputation is probably not doing much to boost sales.

Would you buy Galliano’s fragrance – given the controversy?
