Introducing Dove’s “Ad Makeover” Campaign!

I’ve always loved that Dove uses “Real Women” in their campaign, something they started in 2004. Dove has for years longed to boost women’s self-esteem, while giving them great products.

The idea is “to make more women feel beautiful every day by widening stereotypical views of beauty.”

Now, with Dove’s “The Ad Makeover,” the brand is going further to make women feel beautiful: combatting negative advertising.

Specifically, Dove is setting its sights on all those small but sneaky ads on the side of your screen that shout-out to your “jelly rolls” or “love handles” or “muffin tops” (and sometimes even animate them — that’s the worst). Through Dove Australia’s “The Ad Makeover,” created by Ogilvy, Aussie women can go online and create alternative, feel-good ads instead. Instead of targeting your insecurities, the messages include “The perfect bum is the one you’re sitting on,” for example, or “When it comes to your body, love the one you’re with.”

Our favorite: “Think of your cups as half full.”

The result? You and other women will see colorful, positive ads along the side of your profiles instead. The push to change the way we talk about our bodies — and in this case, the way our bodies are talked about — is something we’re totally on board with. Now if only Dove could bring the Facebook campaign to U.S. soil ASAP…

Lancôme Introduces Rénergie Éclat Multi-Lift‏

Lancôme is thrilled to introduce Rénergie Éclat Multi-Lift, its first tinted treatment to simultaneously lift and illuminate the complexion. A new generation of multi-function skincare, Rénergie Éclat fuses the best of Rénergie anti-aging formulas with color-balancing pigments to immediately bestow skin with a younger-looking appearance.

Soft, velvety and ultra-light to the touch, Rénergie Éclat is available in four color-correcting shades that immediately even the skin tone and improve skin radiance. Upon application, Rénergie Éclat reduces signs of tiredness and brightens dull areas, resulting in skin that looks revitalized. Rénergie Éclat comes in four color-balancing shades to wake up all skin tones, from fair to deep, and help reveal a more youthful skin color. And, over time, skin appears firmer and more elastic.

“Rénergie Éclat blends into the skin seamlessly,” says celebrity makeup artist Sandy Linter, Lancôme’s Beauty at Every Age Expert. “It’s especially wonderful for women who don’t enjoy using foundation. Their skin will have a polished glow, which does not feel like makeup to the wearer but helps the skin look finished. It also wears very well for such a lightweight product.”

I like to try these types of products for a good couple weeks before I review them, so I can give an honest review, one that I’ve actually seen (or not seen) results from.

I’m in LOVE with this product. It changes the whole appearance of my skin! It evens out my skin tone – so my face appears (bear with me here) almost flawless. I am not a huge foundation person, so this works really well for me. My skin looks great – like it would with foundation, but without the heaviness. My skin feels soft and amazing, all day long! Make Her Up highly recommends this amazing product!

Kiehl’s Recycle and Be Rewarded! project with Florence Welch, Mark Ruffalo, Rosario Dawson and Spike Lee, and Recycle Across America‏

Kiehl’s has launched another environmentally conscious program called ‘Recycle and Be Rewarded’, which is a Limited Edition series with labels designed by four celebrities: Rosario Dawson, Spike Lee, Florence Welch and Mark Ruffalo.

100% of the net proceeds will go towards Recycle Across America. Kiehl’s also donated $100,000 to RAA, a non profit organization dedicated to solving the environmental crisis.

With a twofold approach, Kiehl’s is determined to improve recycling methods and further educate our customers on the importance of consistent recycling: We’ve introduced a new product to benefit RAA’s efforts with some incredible celebrity partners, and with the organization’s help, are relaunching our in-store recycling program to help educate and encourage our customers in their recycling efforts.

In honor of the new series, Kiehl’s has launched a Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque series featuring labels designed by the celebrities.

The project includes:

ON OUR SHELVES AND KIEHLS.COM:

We have introduced a Limited Edition Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque, with limited edition labels designed by Spike Lee and his children, Rosario Dawson, Mark Ruffalo and Florence Welch, and 100% of the net proceeds of this collection will benefit Recycle Across America. With every purchase of one of these Limited Edition products, our customers will be contributing to RAA’s efforts: The funds will be used to create 150,000 standardized recycling labels that will easily communicate the proper recycling procedures to the public.

IN OUR STORES:

We are relaunching our Recycle & Be Rewarded! in-store recycling program with brand-new redesigned bins, featuring labels designed by Recycle Across America, with four different segments to properly separate the various recyclable materials that make up a Kiehl’s product.

Recycle and Be Rewarded! is a program in which Kiehl’s patrons may return their empty Kiehl’s bottles, tubes and jars for recycling, in exchange for product. This program is available in all Kiehl’s free-standing stores nationwide.

In encouraging our customers to recycle their Kiehl’s bottles, we are ensuring that those empties are recycled properly, helping them to think more about recycling in general, and give them a reward for doing so. (3 empties=a Lip Balm #1; 5 empties=1 product from the Official Kiehl’s Travel Collection; 10 empties= any single product with a value of $25 or less.) Since 2009, Kiehl’s has already recycled 500,000 bottles!
