Loving Stila’s “In The Light” Palette!

So I went into Ulta the other day with only one thing to purchase. Fekkai’s glossing cream. After grabbing it, I stopped by Stila’s makeup – just for a look! Of course, I end up grabbing Stila’s new ‘In The Light’ palette – it could not be helped! They’re all my favorite colors – in one palette! This palette is one of 3 beautiful collections. There’s In The Garden, In The Moment and mine (above) In The Light. Each palette contains 10 eye shadow shades. My palette contains the best-selling shade Kitten, and a limited edition Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner.

The new In The Light Palette is a beautiful collection of Stila’s award-winning Eye Shadows in wearable, neutral shades for every skintone that can be worn wet or dry. The palette also includes an exclusive Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Damsel, a matte chocolate brown, and an eight-page lookbook with detailed how-to tips and tricks.

I love the lookbook that comes with this palette. It gives soooooo many awesome how-to ideas for your eye shadow. Bottom line – this palette does not disappoint!! You can own it by clicking the link above! $39 for 10 shadows is a steal!

Lady Gaga says mint is in – do you agree?

Lady Gaga posted this message (along with the above picture) on her Facebook page: “I told you MINT would be big in fashion this spring. Naturally, I will continue to wear black. (perpetual mourner) Getting ready for Harvard. Mother is asking me for fashion advice, little does she know I stole her look. #BTWFoundation”

InStyle is also chiming in on mint.

If the idea of wearing bold color on your lids give you pause, check out Ginnifer Goodwin at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. We love the swipe of pale mint shimmer that starts heavily in her inner eye and covers her entire lid. The key ingredient is to concentrate on the lower lid, not the brow bone. Goodwin also illuminated her undereye by gliding a highlighter beneath and adding a few false lashes at the top. This made the entire eye a statement. Take your cue from Goodwin and play down the rest of your makeup when your eyes are this bright.

So what’s the verdict? Would you wear mint?

Mascara Review: 2 to SKIP – 1 to KEEP!

I was at the store last weekend, where I saw there was a sale on Rimmel London mascaras. Buy one get one free! Who could pass that up? Not me! So I grabbed two mascaras that I thought I’d like to try.

So I sit down, put all my other makeup on (foundation, eyeshadow, etc.) and I pull out Max Volume Flash, my new mascara. I pull the wand out of the tube – and immediately I HATE IT. It pulled out a TON of mascara, and the brush was all gooped up with black mascara. I scraped it off, and tried to put it on, and I swear I hated it in two strokes. It’s awful. It doesn’t do a darn thing that it says it will. I’ve tried a lot of mascaras, and this one might be one of the worst. Look at that packaging! 14X volume! Fast – no mess lashes! Collagen and Keratin enriched! Their biggest brush ever! Psht. No good. I put the lid back on – and tossed it in the trash.

Then I decide to open the next mascara I bought, Glam’Eyes. I should have known I wouldn’t like it just by looking at the wand. I hate small brushes. I like a nice – thick brush. But I decided to try it anyway, and I didn’t like it at all. Again, everything it promises on the packaging is complete BS. Talk about false advertising! It’s practically the same exact mascara as Max Volume Flash – just in a different tube. Definitely NOT worth my money, and I won’t be trying any more Rimmel mascaras any time soon. I know Erin has tried one that she likes – but I’d definitely tell you guys to skip these two. They’re no good.

So I can’t leave you with all bad news, can I? How about 1 mascara I think you SHOULD try?

I’m absolutely in love with L’Oreal’s Millions of Lashes! I have looooong struggled with drugstore mascaras, because in my opinion, they can’t stand up to some of the more expensive versions like Diorshow. Aaaand then I tried L’Oreal’s Voluminous Million Lashes. It was love at first stroke.

I adore this mascara. For only $8, you’re getting what you could get for $30+ on a more expensive brand. It goes on smoothly, it isn’t clumpy, the brush is fantastic, it doesn’t flake, it actually DOES make your lashes look longer and fuller. In my opinion, it’s one of the few drugstore mascaras that actually live up to the hype. If you’re looking for a new mascara to try – try this guy. You won’t be sorry!
