Miley Cyrus covers the Women in Music issue for Elle Magazine

elle-elle-00-may-cover-miley-cyrus-0514-h

ELLE’s May issue is devoted to women in music, so who better than the Bangerz girl herself for the cover? Miley Cyrus looked very natural and absolutely stunning while shooting the issue, one could say she is quite comfortable in her own skin.

Hair Look:
Wella Professionals Celebrity Stylist, Andy LeCompte created a texturized style for Miley’s platinum pixie. It looked remarkable with the minimal makeup and her sparkly Marc Jacobs jumpsuit.

Feeling motivated to join in the Hollywood pixie trend? Here are some tips on how Andy achieved the severely chic short-haired style.

Andy LeCompte created lightweight style by starting with a strong base for hair using Wella Professionals Brilliance Shampoo and Conditioner for color-treated hair. He primed Miley’s wet hair with Wella Professionals Oil Reflections to increase shine to overall end look. Then, blowing hair dry in all directions, he roughly used his hands and a small ceramic brush to tousle locks. Andy finished by spraying leave in conditioner onto his hands and ran through Miley’s hair, giving moisture as well as that much desired texture seen on the cover.

Katie Holmes lands the April cover of Elle UK

holmeselleuk1

Katie Holmes lands the April cover of Elle UK, and inside the magazine she opens up about her six-year-old daughter, Suri, living in New York and much more.

She admits that Suri’s upbringing is much different than her own, which was spent on the western end of Lake Erie in her native Toledo. “Children are exposed to so much more than we were, I suppose every generation goes through that feeling, “Oh my God, it’s so different from how I grew up,’” she said. “I think the basics are very important: the number one thing is making sure my child feels loved. And good about herself. And that what she does and who she is, is special and important, and should be celebrated. And my mum always said, ‘No one loves you like your mother.’”

Katie, who gave birth to Suri in 2006 when she was married to Tom Cruise, admits that motherhood has changed how she views women. “I think all of our experiences bring us to a greater understanding of ourselves and help us realise what is most important. That being said, I have three older sisters and one older brother and I went to an all-girls school, and have always been a fan of women. I support women and all experiences give you more insight into others, as well as yourself.”

Reese Witherspoon covers Elle Magazine, opens up about how her children changed her life.

reese-witherspoon-elle-1113

Reese Witherspoon, 37, covers the November issue of Elle Magazine, dubbed the “Women in Hollywood” issue. Penelope Cruz, Melissa McCarthy and Shailene Woodley also have covers (I’ll post those below). Witherspoon looks amazing on the cover, doesn’t she?

In the interview, she talked about her children, and how they made her a better woman. “Somebody was saying to me the other day, ‘Oh, people get less interesting when they have kids.’ I just don’t think that’s true,” the Oscar winner says. “I feel like I was so confused before I had kids, I almost got in my own way.”

Witherspoon has two children with her ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe. 14-year-old Ava, and 9-year-old Deacon. She also has a 12-month old son, Tennessee with her second husband Jim Toth. “Having kids made me clearer about who I was as a woman. I just wanted to exhibit good qualities for my daughter. I was a little competitive before I had kids — probably really competitive, to be honest,” she said. “It really made me let go of that.”

Reese is not only in front of the camera, but she’s also behind it. In 2000 she founded Type A Films, which merged with Pacific Standard in 2012. “I started noticing a couple years ago that I wasn’t seeing women as the stars of movies,” she recalls. “I’m seeing them as the guys’ girlfriends, or so-and-so’s wife. I just thought: God, if I don’t start buckling down and start producing some movies, what’s my daughter going to see in the movies?”

Katy Perry lands the October cover of Elle Canada!

Katy Perry lands the October cover of Elle Canada, and in the magazine, she shares a bit too much information. Well, she reveals more information than I needed, I’ll just say that.

On getting older: “I’m 28, and I don’t know how young you are, but, as you must know, when you’re at the end of your 20s, it’s a very important growing time. It’s called the Saturn return, if you like astrology—I know it’s important for me. I think that it’s a very important time, when you kind of let go of childish things and accept the wisdom that comes with age,” she explains. “That’s exactly where I am now.”

On her evolution: “I’ve always been a sponge; I’ve always had a desire to learn,” she explains. “I didn’t grow up with a real education, but now I am kind of educated by life.”

On her inspirations: The kid who wasn’t allowed to listen to “secular” music has certainly broadened her tastes. She smiles when she tells me that she went to see Kinky Boots on Broadway the night before. “I loved it. I was surprised that I was emotional about it. The message is so powerful.” The musical is based on the true story of a shoemaker who teams up with a drag queen to save his family business. It’s fun and glitzy and boasts a score by Cyndi Lauper. At its core, though, the story is about the characters’ search for commonality and struggle to stand up to their parents. No wonder Perry loved it. Her rebellious streak may be why she says she’s so inspired by strong women like Joan of Arc. She puts it more simply, though. “I always like to go the unique road less travelled.”

TMI:
Then, while describing her preferred brand of vitamin C, she casually mentions that the only drawback is that it tastes like “a load and is disgusting.” She smiles, continuing on, and then stops dead and laughs. “I can’t believe I just said that! Strike the ‘load’ part!”

Her beauty routine: Before long, she has flicked her pumps onto the floor (“Yeah, I’m taking my shoes off!”) and dumped the contents of her makeup bag out on the coffee table. “There we go!” she says. “My bag of tricks!” It’s an unusually literal response to an admittedly rote line of questioning about her beauty regimen. “I make sure to give myself a break,” she says. “I had to find that balance. But I learned this thing called Transcendental Meditation, which I do as much as I possibly can. It’s 20 minutes and you’re supposed to do it twice a day, but I only do it once every other day—but anyway, it works.” She waves her hand dismissively. “People say you should work out 30 minutes a day—none of us works out 30 minutes a day!”

Calls Rihanna out for her pot smoking: She is equally frank about why she admires her famous friends. “I think that Rihanna always looks so fresh and I’m like, ‘How do you do that? We all know how much pot you smoke! And you don’t sleep because you’re on Instagram at four o’clock in the morning!’” she hoots with mock despair and then winks. “I’ll get her secret for you.”
