She looks amazing, I can’t wait to see the movie!

Dove Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend styled Jennifer Lawrence’s hair tonight for The Hunger Games premiere in LA. See below for steps from Mark that women can follow to create this long-lasting style at home.

- “I started by applying a large dollop of Dove Style+Care Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse to Jennifer’s damp hair and blow dried with a large round brush.
- Next, I took 3-inch sections of hair and sprayed Dove Style+Care Thermal Replenishment Spray on the hair before wrapping it around a 1-inch curling iron.
- -Then, I sprayed Sally Hershberger Genius Spray Wax all over to give her hair second-day texture. I took two Jennifer Behr headbands and braided them into her hair, and then pinned the braid into a bun. I always spray Dove Refresh+Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo on my Bobby pins for extra hold.
- I finished by spraying Dove Style+Care Extra Hold Hairspray all over to keep every hair in place all night.”

Kristen looked amazing last night!

At the 84th annual Academy Awards, Kristen Wiig, a first-time nominee for “Original Screenplay” for Bridesmaids, stole the style spotlight. Below, Dove Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend shares his tips for women looking to achieve her red carpet look at home. Mark used products from the NEW Dove Style+Care collection that nourish and protect hair for long-lasting style. The products are officially available nationwide March 1st.

Here is how to get Kristen’s textured waves:

“I was in love with Kristen’s J. Mendel dress as soon as I saw it; I was so inspired by the silhouette and color. We wanted Kristen’s hair to be full with voluminous waves and have an edgy and sexy texture”

  • - “I started by applying a large dollop of Dove Style+Care Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse and blow dried the hair with a round brush.
  • - I then took 3-inch sections of hair and sprayed each section with Dove Style+Care Thermal Replenishment Spray and then wrapped the hair around a 1 1/2 inch FHI Heat curling iron.
  • - When all of her hair had been curled, I took a small amount of Dove Style+Care Frizz-Free Shine Cream-Serum in my hands and rubbed them together and then I raked the product through the hair to break up the curls and give the hair shine and definition. I’m beyond obsessed with this product. It gives you the nourishment of a cream and the shine of a serum in one bottle!
  • - I finished her look by spraying Dove Style+Care Strength & Shine Extra Hold Hairspray all over while scrunching the hair with my fingers; this will ensure that the hair is in place all night and give the hair great sexy waves.”

Here is how to get Kristen’ low chignon:

“I really wanted Kristen’s hair to be up in order to show off her amazing Fred Leighton choker and Balenciaga gown. I gave her a deep side part and pulled her hair into a low chignon, creating a silhouette that has a hint of 20s, but the texture keeps it completely modern.
To get this hairstyle I started by applying the new Dove Style+Care Nourishing Amplifier Mousse to her hair and blew it dry with a round brush.
Next I sprayed Oribe Dry Texture Spray all over before pulling the hair into a low chignon and secured with bobby pins.
To keep her in place all night, I finished with the new Dove Style+Care Strength & Shine Extra Hold Hairspray; I love this spray because it has amazing hold and gives the hair great shine that is still soft to the touch.”

Here is how to get Lea’s Soft, Touchable Hair:

“I was so inspired by Lea and her Atelier Versace gown and wanted to give her a hairstyle that was soft, sexy, and touchable.
I started by applying a large dollop of the new Dove Style+Care Nourishing Amplifier Mousse to Lea’s damp hair and blow dried with a large round brush for volume.
Next, I took a dime-size amount of the new Dove Frizz-Free Shine Cream-Serum in my hands and rubbed them together to warm up the product, and then raked my hands through her hair. I am obsessed with this cream; it gives the hair amazing shine and separation, and also nourishes the hair too so it’s like having a styling product and a conditioner in one bottle.
I pulled her hair into a loose bun while Lea had her makeup done to set a loose wave in her hair. Then, I let the hair down and sprayed Oribe Après Beach Spray all over to give the hair that great sexy “second-day” hair.
Just before Lea left for the red carpet, I finished her hairstyle by spraying the new Dove Style+Care Extra Hold Hairspray all over to keep her hair in place without it looking stiff or crunchy.”

Dove being called out for their new “racist” ad!

I read the headline above, and thought to myself – how could Dove be considered racist? Really? People are too sensitive sometimes… then I saw the ad.

I’m sure it wasn’t intentional – but c’mon – no one noticed how bad this looked?

Now making the internet rounds: a new, supposed Dove ad called out for connoting an underlying bias. (Editor’s note: Dove hasn’t taken responsibility for the promotion, although commenters on various sites recount seeing it in magazines.)

Via Copyranter, comes the image for the brand’s VisibleCare body wash, showing three women — one black, one possibly Latina and one blonde — standing in front of “before” and “after” images. Copyranter’s takeaway: “Dove body wash turns Black Women into Latino Women into White Women.” Jezebel refers to it as “unintentionally(?) racist,”adding, “Bye-bye black skin, hello white skin! (Scrub hard!)”

If this advertisement proves real, it wouldn’t be the first time Dove’s practices have been questioned.

Last summer, someone affiliated with the beauty giant put up a casting notice for Dove’s “Real Beauty” campaign, looking for naturally fit, not too curvy and not too athletic women. Like, really? Dove quickly distanced itself from the posting, telling StyleList the notice “was not approved by the brand or agency team and did not reflect the spirit of the brand team’s vision….We believe our images demonstrate that real beauty comes in many shapes, sizes, colors and ages and we remain committed to featuring realistic and attainable images of beauty in all our advertising.”
