PREVIEW: Dita Von Teese launches lingerie line for Target!

Dita Von Teese is the latest celebrity to collaborate with Target! The burlesque dancer has designed a line of vintage-inspired lingerie. The collection will only be available in Australia, so if you’re looking to get your hands on the pieces, you’ll have to hit Target.com.au or eBay!

For a woman who spends most of her career in lingerie, it comes as no surprise she’d design her own line. Wonder how her style will fit in at Target. Seems a bit strange to me, but maybe it’ll be pretty successful!

Not to mention: garters and corsets don’t translate to lower price points the way cotton briefs and sports bras might. Nipped silhouettes and lacy overlays rely on sound construction and high-quality fabrics—not even sort of Target’s strong points. The retailer’s boutique fashion lines do a good job of translating the vision and overall sensibility of designer items to mass-produced apparel, but even though the pieces seem pretty in the lookbooks and hanging on the Target racks, each one is a hop, skip, and jump away from becoming just another crumpled rag stuffed in the back of your drawers.

Dita Von Teese for Target is worth browsing at the store if you’re hanging out in Australia, but save your eBaying for another time. La Perla this is not.

Dita Von Teese launches a line of press-on nails!

Dita Von Teese has teamed up with New York-based nail brand, Kiss, to create a line of retro-inspired press-on nails. Painted in a super shiny and chip resistant cherry red lacquer, the oval-shaped digits mimic a style that was popular during the 1930s and 1940s among Hollywood screen sirens — and a look the Michigan-born beauty has worn for the past 20 years.

She explained to the Telegraph:

“When I was researching style in the early part of my career, I looked very closely at the details of photographs of women of those decades and noticed that they would leave the moon of the nail bed bare; sometimes they would leave a sliver of white at the tip too”, said Von Teese. “So I showed the pictures to my mother, who has been a manicurist for 30 years, and she would patiently paint my nails in this style, sometimes experimenting with colors. All these years later the trend is finally catching on, so I wanted to offer a shortcut to the classic half moon manicure – a way for everyone to wear it without going through the drama of explaining to your manicurist what you want it and how to do it.”

Dita Von Teese finally creating her own fragrance?

Dita Von Teese has had a long, painful road in creating her own fragrance. Back in December she was rejected by a major perfume company over fears that she wasn’t “famous enough” to carry her own line.

She told WWD.com, “What I really want to do is make my own fragrance. I don’t want to smell like anyone else. I have to talk to the smaller companies, because the bigger ones, like Coty, are like ‘Well, not everyone knows your name, like the Kardashians or Victoria Beckham.'”

Is her dream finally coming true? The burlesque beauty posted on Twitter, “Isolated at a chateau in the French countryside w/my perfumers. “No fruit, no vanilla, no candy!! Velvet sensuality w/a dash of vulgarity! I want to evoke passion with fragrance….intense love/lust and distaste/fear rather than merely popular acceptance.”

Can’t wait to see what she comes up with!

Dita Von Teese Tweets Photo From New Beauty Book

The queen of burlesque is about to share her most intimate beauty secrets.

Dita Von Teese
– the retro tease and pin-up model — tweeted a glitzy and bodacious photo from her upcoming beauty book today.

Photographed by Scott Nathan, the shot shows off a fierce red mani and bold lips (plus, blinged out shades by designer Michael Schmidt), not to mention ample cleavage that Von Teese has previously admitted is the result of a breast augmentation.

Von Teese tells BellaSugar that her beauty book will spell out all the secrets to her glamorous transformations.

“When I go to events and when I do my shows, and in day to day life of course, I don’t work with a team of stylists. I enjoy doing it myself,” reveals the 38-year-old Michigan native.

“The message I wanted to get out to young women is — what you see on the red carpet — maybe they have a team of people putting them together, but it’s something you can learn to do yourself if you set your mind to it,” says Von Teese.

Sadly, the beauty doesn’t see herself as sexy.

actually doesn’t feel like she’s beautiful.

“I wanted to have a glamorous life like the movie stars in the movies I love, which were the old movies from the ’30s and ’40s. I wanted to be memorable. I wanted to be something special,” Von Teese tells BellaSugar.

“I always felt very ordinary and very boring. I never felt like a beauty, but I understood that beauty and glamour were two different things — and that glamour is something any woman can achieve.”
