The seventh annual Avon Beauty Breakthrough Tour will set out this Fall 2008 to share Avon’s beauty and earning opportunity with women from coast-to-coast. This award winning integrated consumer marketing program will stop in 12 cities nationwide, and is expected to reach over 300,000 women.

Avon’s traveling beauty destination offers a one-of-a-kind, interactive experience designed to help women discover new beauty breakthroughs with Avon. Tour visitors are invited to reveal a more youthful appearance with ANEW, Avon’s pioneering anti-aging skincare brand, indulge in a complimentary lip makeover, receive free samples and learn about the amazing earning opportunity from an Avon Representative.

Upon entering the customized 1,600 square-foot beauty pavilion, women will be pampered, revitalized, and empowered in a variety of ways, including the following highlights:

Anew Skincare Bars
Product Sampling Bars, featuring ANEW Skincare, will allow visitors the opportunity to interact with this breakthrough anti-aging skincare brand, while learning how to fight all stages of the aging process through personalized skincare consultations.

Lip Service Stations
Consumers are invited to receive a complimentary lip makeover and learn expert tips for lips at one of the many Lip Service Stations, featuring Ultra Color Rich Mousse Lipstick, Glazwear Liquid Lip Color and Avon’s breakthrough Pro-To-Go Lipstick – the only lipstick that combines luscious color, and hydrating lip care, into one fabulous lipstick that you can open, apply and close with one hand.

On-site recruiting station
The recruiting lounge allows visitors to learn more about the breakthrough earning opportunity offered by Avon! Local Avon District Sales Managers and Avon Leadership Representatives will be on-site to share the limitless possibilities of the Avon earning opportunity.

The Hello Tomorrow Wishing Wall
Returning for a second year, the popular Wishing Wall invites visitors to share their vision for a better tomorrow. By posting a wish on the Wishing Wall and completing an entry form, each visitor will automatically be entered for a chance to win $500 to make that wish a reality. One winner will be randomly selected in each city the Tour visits. In addition, Avon is committed to creating a better tomorrow for the women and families in your community. The city that collects the most wishes will receive a $20,000 donation from Avon to benefit a local domestic violence agency.

October 16th-19th- Tulsa Oktoberfest in Tulsa, OK

October 24th- 26th- What Women Want Festival in St. George, Utah

World Sight Day 2008, Thursday October 8th. And Contest!

World Sight Day 2008

This is a cause close to my heart, my mom was rushed into emergency eye surgery this summer. She has a great optometrist who was checking her eye and noticed her retina was tearing and could detach if left untreated leaving her blind. Thanks to his expertise her eye is now healed and she is back to normal vision, without good preventive care for my mom and others its too easy for unnecessary blindness to occur.

Fighting Vision Impairment in Later Life

Word Sight Day is an annual day of awareness coordinated by the Vision 2020 Global Initiative and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). Its aim is to raise global attention concerning the current reality of 300 million people living with blindness and vision impairments worldwide. On WSD, Vision 2020 members work together to:

  • Raise awareness of vision impairments and blindness, an international public health issues.
  • Involve and influence governing health ministries to distribute funds and resources for national blindness prevention programs.
  • Inform of targeted assemblies of the Vision 2020 initiative, as well as generating more support for its program activities.

World Sight Day 2008 is scheduled to open the eyes of the world on Thursday 9th October 2008.

Why World Sight Day?

World Site Day is a global event included in the World Health Organization’s official calendar and held every second Thursday of October. World Sight Day 2008 will focus on the Ageing Eye:

* About 300 million people are living with a serious vision impairment
* 90 % live in developing countries with little chance of proper treatment.
* More than 80 % of the people living with blindness are over 50 years of age
* Yet 75 % of blindness cases are preventable, curable, or treatable. Over 150 million people live with defective eyesight simply because of uncorrected refractive errors.
