Love the  Hair Food Strawberry Ginger Root Clarifying Shampoo. First thing I noticed was how amazing this smells I would have never thought to combine strawberry and ginger scents but its wonderful. I just need a little dollop to work through my roots and this shampoo clears any build up from styling or condition products. And I love the it clarifies my hair without drying it out, oh and leaves it smelling amazing.

I love a good hair mask and Clairol Hair Food Moisturizing mask is one of my new favorites. The honey and apricot scent smells good enough to eat and this thick rich texture is really hydrating. In the shower I apply a dollop and work through the middle of my hair to the ends, I leave it on for 3-5 minutes and rinse it out. My hair is left soft, smooth and tangle free and smelling fantastic.

I love how much this moisturizes my hair without weighing it down. A great hair mask perfect for post summer hair TLC and a price you can’t beat.

Banish Brassiness with Clairol Shimmer Lights Hair Care

I decided a few weeks ago I would color my own hair. I figured I do root touch ups in between salon visits so why do I just save a few bucks and color my hair myself.  I picked up some box hair color for platinum blonde and made sure to get an ash based color so it didn’t go brassy.

Applied it per the directions and let it sit for the prescribed time. Hopped in the shower rinsed, conditioned and jumped out to find I had the most awful yellow brassy color. Imagine a pumpkin and a banana having a baby… that was the color of the top 4 inches of my hair. I quickly remembered why I leave platinum color to the professionals and went about a repair plan.

After googling hair SOS tips from every source available I headed to Sally Beauty Supply. Picked up a Wella Ash Toner and some Shimmer Lights Shampoo. After the toning treatment my yellow was mostly gone but I still had some brassy spots. In came the rich purple Clairol Shimmer Lights shampoo. I started applying every 3rd day instead of my regular shampoo and within a week the brassiness was gone and I was left with a beautiful pale ash blonde I had originally been shooting for. You can see from the pic above how thick, rich and deeply purple this shampoo is.

Love how great the Shimmer Lights worked to tone down the remaining brassiness. With every use I was amazed how much brassiness was toned down and I love the pale platinum color it left my hair.  For maintenance of my color I just apply Shimmer Lights Shampoo once a week. I like to let it sit about 5-7 minutes then I rinse and bye bye brassiness. I didn’t pick up the conditioner but think I will go grab it I love the shampoo so much.

Clairol Nice ‘n Easy’s new Hair Color Ambassador is…

CH Clairol Red Ad - Low Res

Clairol Nice ‘n Easy announced Christina Hendricks as their Hair Color Ambassador today!

The famed Madison Avenue redhead Christina will appear in ads starting in January 2015 to inspire women nationwide to “shift a shade” to find their true, natural-looking hair color, just as she did with Nice ‘n Easy years ago.

Here are some fun facts about Christina and the partnership:

  • Christina wasn’t born a redhead, though with Nice ‘n Easy hair color, it’s often believed to be her own. Naturally dark blonde, she was first inspired to color her hair by Anne of Green Gables — another of the world’s most iconic redheads.
  • Christina shifted to red early in her career for an Italian editorial piece using Clairol hair color for its natural-looking results. She chose to stick with the brand ever since!
  • Her hair color resulted in her landing the biggest role of her acting career to-date: “Red” AKA Joan Holloway in Mad Men.
  • While the title “Hair Color Ambassador” is new to Christina, she is no stranger to the brand. She was a model for Miss Clairol in the 90s and always keeps her Nice ‘n Easy shade in her beauty box for easy touch-ups.
  • She applies Nice ‘n Easy 6R Natural Light Auburn herself at home.
  • Clairol and Christina are encouraging women to shift a shade to find their true hair color, just as she did with Nice ‘n Easy.

Clairol Natural Instincts Spokesperson Giada De Laurentiis Looks Flawless for First Restaurant Opening in VEGAS!‏

Giada Clairol Natural Instincts

Celebrity chef and Clairol Natural Instincts spokesperson Giada De Laurentiis celebrated the opening of her first restaurant “Giada” in Las Vegas last night with her nearest and dearest. For the big night, Giada’s look was inspired by the art and colors threaded throughout her restaurant, designed to feel like you’re dining in Giada’s home.

Julie Morgan, celebrity makeup artist and longtime friend of Giada De Laurentiis, got her hair and makeup ready for the event. Here’s how:

Giada’s hair was freshly colored with Clairol Natural Instincts Amber Shimmer (a shade change for Giada) which gave her hair a gorgeous light golden brown hue. For the evening, she opted for loose voluminous waves to complement her Italian and California roots. To achieve this look:

1. Shampoo hair 24-48 hours after coloring hair for best results

2. Blow-dry hair and apply texturizing spray to roots for added volume

3. Take 1 inch barrel curling iron and twist sections of hair while leaving the ends of the hair out

4. Apply shine spray

5. Turn head over and move fingers through hair and spray a medium hold hairspray all-over to hold the curls in place, like Herbal Essences Naked Flexible Hold Spritzer

To complement Giada’s soft locks, Julie went with stone and jewel-tone smoky eye liner by Trish McEvoy. Giada’s overall skin, cheeks and lips were done in a rose gold hue (Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation, Jouer Rose Blush with Sunshine Bronzer and Rose Lip Pencil with Peach Pearl Lip Enhancer). Her look was finished with COVERGIRL mascara.

Giada’s wardrobe was styled by Stylist Sam Saboura — dress was by Cushnie et Ochs and shoes by Givenchy.
