Claire Danes looked gorgeous last night! It’s shocking she had a baby just a few weeks ago she looked amazing.

Claire Danes 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards January 13, 2013

Makeup:

Claire Danes’ gorgeous and glamorous Laura Mercier makeup look from this evening’s Golden Globe Awards. Matin Maulawizada, Global Artistry Director for Laura Mercier, created a “sexy, fun look” for “Homeland” star, Claire Danes, who is nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the “Best Performance by An Actress in a Television Series – Drama” category.

Eyes: Maulawizada determined that a sultry, smoky eye would perfectly complement the star’s glamorous, red Versace dress. “I decided to go with a smoky eye and not a red lip since the dress was so red,” stated Maulawizada.

  • Maulawizada accomplished this by applying Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Liner in Black ($22) on Danes’ top lids and under her eyes “to create depth and shape.”
  • Next he applied Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Black Ebony ($22) with Laura Mercier Flat Eye Liner Brush ($25) to “deepen the lash line.” He then rimmed the inside of the eyes using Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Black Gold ($20) to “intensify the depth and to create a contrast with Claire’s blue eyes.”
  • Maulawizada added the final touch of glamour by applying multiple coats of Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara ($24) to Claire’s upper lashes.

Lips: Maulawizada used neutral colours to “contour the lips” and make them appear “pouty, à la an early ‘90s supermodel pout.”

  • He first defined the lips using Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Hazelnut ($20).
  •  Then he contoured and shaded in the lips with Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Praline ($20).
  • Lastly he applied Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Angelic ($26) to make the colour a “bit more beige and quiet.”

Face: Maulawizada determined that “glowy, warm skin” would be the perfect canvas for Danes’ sultry makeup look.

  • First, he applied Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Crème Compact SPF 20 in Almond ($45) to warm up Claire’s skin tone.
  • Next he sparingly used Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage #3 ($30) to “cover up little imperfections and darkness under the eyes, which she really doesn’t have.”
  • On her cheeks, Maulawizada applied Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Blaze ($24) followed by Laura Mercier Bonne Mine Palette ($48) to “highlight, bronze and make her even more glowy.”
  • Lastly he used a combination of Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Translucent ($35) and Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($22) to set Claire’s makeup and concealer.
  • To ensure Danes glowed from head to toe, Maulawizada applied Laura Mercier Mineral Illuminating Powder in Candlelight ($32) over Laura Mercier Repair Eye Serum ($80) on Claire’s shoulders and arms.

Hair:

Celebrity hairstylist Peter Butler created Claire Danes’ look for tonight’s Golden Globes in Los Angeles. Taking inspiration from the Homeland actress’ red-hot Versace gown, Butler gave Claire sexy, loose waves, likening her to a modern-day Jessica Rabbit.

Step 1 – Prep
Blowdry hair with a large, round, boar bristle brush. Take a curling iron with a 1 1/2 inch barrel and start curling hair section by section. Set the curls with Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm-Hold Hairspray ($5.99 at drugstores).

Step 2 – Style
To create the perfect wave, use a paddle brush to brush through curls. Apply Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Crème ($5.99 at drugstores) throughout the hair–it will soften hair and add shine while leaving the curls chunky and intact.

Step 3 – Perfect
Finish by adding a fine mist of Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray to lock in the style.

Claire Danes covers Elle Magazine’s February issue!

An 8-months-pregnant Claire Danes glows on the cover of ELLE February, on newsstands nationwide January 15th. In the issue, she opens up about being a working mother, her relationship with husband Hugh Dancy, and even meeting President Obama.

On waiting to have children:

“I’ve always wanted to have kids, but I’m glad I didn’t until now. When I was thinking about [working and being a mother] originally, I was really nervous about it…I think I would make a lousy stay-at-home mom. It just wouldn’t suit me. I feel so fortunate, in that I’ve had this arrow-straight focus…that I wanted to act.”

On her relationship with husband Hugh Dancy:

“Hugh was just the right partner for me. I got very, very lucky. There’s only so much credit you can take when it just sort of works, you know? And obviously we work hard at maintaining our relationship – that is central to both our lives – but at the same time, it’s just this kind of ease that I can’t really account for.”

On meeting President Obama (a fan of Homeland) with her husband Hugh at the White House Correspondent’s dinner:

“Hugh was like, ‘We have to meet Obama,’ and we walked over before we could think and found ourselves shaking hands with him.  Hugh realized that he’d forgotten to actually properly introduce himself, and [President Obama] was like, ‘And you are?’ And Hugh was like, ‘I’m sorry, Mr. President.’  I said, ‘I’m Claire Danes,’ and he said, ‘Oh, you’re a fine actress.’ And I said, ‘You’re a fine president!’  And he said, ‘Oh, you’re a finer actress than I am president.’ I didn’t have any retort.  Hugh and I went immediately to the bar and had a big shot of vodka.”

On teenagers growing up in Hollywood today:

“When I was younger, I was a little bit more restless, but there weren’t as many eyes. There weren’t as many tabloids or the number of cameras that everyone’s armed with. I feel huge sympathy for teenagers who have suddenly found themselves as public figures now, because it just sucks for them.”

Since the interview, 33-year-old Claire gave birth to her first child, son Cyrus Michael Christopher.

Claire Danes covers Flare Magazine, opens up about playing a bi-polar person on ‘Homeland’

FLARE Magazine, celebrates Emmy-winner and expectant mother Claire Danes on their November cover. Danes wears a Celine cuff and Sydney Evans earrings on the cover; inside, she models a purple coat by Versace. In FLARE’s exclusive interview, the actor reflects on growing up famous, her Emmy-winning role, and the reality of bi-polar disorder.

On child stardom: “I was pretty clear about what I did and didn’t want to do, even as a kid. People dismiss kids as being unthinking; they’re surprisingly discerning. I wanted to be taken seriously from the outset.”

On transitioning from romantic leads to bi-polar F.B.I. agent Carrie Mathison: “It’s arguable that being in love and being mentally ill are sort of similar [laughs]. But it’s true I went through this arduous decade and it did get a bit tiresome after awhile—you want to be defined in some other way.”

On the reality of bi-polar disorder: “Carrie’s disease is formidable, it’s furious, but it’s also treatable and every case is individual. I think the show offers a pretty good reflection of what that experience is like.”

On her reputation as a serious actor: “I actually want people to imagine me as being a little less serious sometimes. But people get attached to certain characters and perceptions.”

Claire Danes Covers 2012 British GQ.

Homeland star Claire Danes covers the September 2012 issue of British GQ magazine.

Danes wore a Ralph Lauren Black Label halter maxi dress for the cover shot and in its pages, the 33-year-old actress talked about how she turned down the lead role in Titanic, shares more about her Homeland character and being away from her husband while filming in North Carolina:

On her admiration for Carrie Mathison, whom her ‘Homeland’ character is based upon:
“She’s like my kinky superhero alter ego now. Because as disturbed and troubled as she is, she’s always f—ing right. Which is so nice because I so rarely am.”

On turning down the lead role in the blockbuster movie ‘Titanic’:
“I had just made a romantic epic with Leonardo [DiCaprio] – it just seemed redundant to me. The problem is that I always took myself too seriously. Now I realize I should have lightened up. I was a serious kid to an absurd degree. I was overwhelmed with responsibility, trying to play grown up. I overdid it.”

On being away from husband Hugh Dancy while filming ‘Homeland’ in North Carolina:
“It sucks. Seven years, it’s a long-a– time. But every year I’m going to have something really compelling to do.”
