Hot Beauty Trend: Ponytails!

Instead of a formal updo, stars pony up on the red carpet in this simple yet sleek hairstyle.

The high ponytail has a lot of pull these days as stars like Angelina Jolie and Kate Bosworth transform the casual do into an elegant evening look.  The style is “sexy and fresh at the same time,” says Jeffrey Paul, who created Freida Pinto’s pretty pony recently for a Los Angeles event. To keep the look clean, hair should be “polished but not greasy,” says Paul. “Use little product to avoid an oily finish.”

How to style:

  1. Blow dry the hair in a backward motion with a medium-barrel boardbristle brush.
  2. Add a dab of smoothing cream or pomade and sweep hair into a high ponytail close to the crown of the head, using an elastic ponytail holder.
  3. For a finished look take a small section of hair, wrap around the band and secure with bobby pins.

“On the eve of the Cannes Festival, to which I want to reiterate our attachment, L’Oreal Paris is delighted that these great stars of world cinema have agreed to represent our brand,” Jean-Jacques Lebel, president of L’Oreal Consumer Products, said in a statement.

Quelques Fleurs Eau de parfum spray

I’ve been wearing the same perfume since 7th grade!

Quelques Fleurs by Houbigant perfume was launched by the design house of Houbigant in 1912—and it is a true classic that has endured the test of time. The blend of soft, sensual florals uses more than 250 different raw materials and more than 15,000 flowers to create just one ounce of Quelques Fleurs eau de parfum. To this day it is still produced in Grasse, France, where Jean Francois Houbigant first created his perfumes in 1775. The succulent scent wrapped in a theme of sculptured petals in a frosted and clear French glass.

David Babaii’s “How Tos” from the Met Museum of Art’s 2009 Gala‏

Kate Hudson: To start, I sprayed our David Babaii for WildAid Bohemian Beach Spray and distributed evenly through the hair to create the volume, texture and lift I was looking for. Next, I used the David Babaii for WildAid Blow Dryer on medium heat and medium air flow. I used my hands instead of a brush so I could create texture. To create her beachy waves I did some soft scrunching and twisting small strands around my fingers until dry. I finished this look with Mise en Plis Light Styling Spray for a lightweight touchable hold.

Liv Tyler: To create this Sophia Loren inspired look, I used a large barrel curling iron by FHI Heat. First, I parted her hair to the side using the highest point of the eyebrow as my guide. Then I created 4 sections (top, sides and nape) for total control. Before curling each section, I sprayed Volcanic Ash Root Lift to each strand then clip each curl. This provided the volume and lift needed for any special event. Next, gently brush curls out using your fingers and allowing curls to fall into a natural pattern. To finish, I sprayed Mise en Plis Extra Hold Styling Spray that provides not only maximum hold but leaves hair with a brilliant shine.
