The New Wavy Hairstyle

Hippie-inspired beach waves continue to dominate the red carpet, but at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, stylist Robert Vetica took curls a decade further. “It was ’70s-inspired, like Bianca Jagger–goes–to–Studio 54,” says the coiffeur about the hairdo Jennifer Lopez, his muse of the evening, wore. “I’m kind of over messy beach hair—I wanted to make a stronger statement by giving her hair style and shape. It had lots of curl and massive volume, with more width than height.”

In eschewing carefree 60s layers for Guy Bourdin–worthy curls, Vetica trimmed Lopez’s damp hair to one length (“When you blunt the hair it makes curls appear stacked and gives volume at the ends”). Next, he blew strands dry with a round brush to maintain hair’s buoyancy and fashioned a middle part. Misting a mild fixing spray, he then created spirals with a one-inch curling iron. Working from the back to the front on each side, he finger-brushed the set with Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream (“It holds the wave and takes out any dryness from the curling iron”). For a va-va-voom finish, Vetica smoothed waves with a bristled brush and backcombed under each section using a wide-tooth comb. A healthy dousing of Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray (available next month) and Lopez’s head-turning do was complete.

Daily Beauty Tip from InStyle Magazine!

Blush Lips

At an event benefiting the EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund in Beverly Hills, Taylor Swift wore an orange-red dress—and matching lips. To keep a bold lip shade soft the way makeup artist Lorrie Turk did for Swift, look for one in the pastel range, which means it has more white pigment added to it. Then, apply with a soft lip brush and top with plenty of translucent gloss. The effect is a subtle hum instead of a loud bang.

Sheer Peach Cheeks

At The Edge of Darkness premiere in Hollywood, Maria Menounos was anything but drab. Bronzer isn’t the only way to brighten up your face in the winter months. A powder blush that’s more peach than pink will have a similar effect. And be sure to brush on the apples of your cheeks and the bridge of your nose. When you already have a touch of color in your skin, a salmon shade adds more contrast and light than straight bronzer.

Julia Roberts‘ promotional deal with French luxury beauty brand Lancôme will earn her a whopping $20 million, reports Radar Online.

In late 2009, Lancôme announced Roberts’ appointment as their 2010 global brand ambassador. The deal was Julia’s first as a beauty company brand ambassador.

Julia, 42, will feature in Lancôme Spring 2010 advertising campaign and is set to jet off to Paris for its photo shoot. Her husband, Danny Moder, will accompany her on the week long trip that will mix business with pleasure.

The couple will leave their three children – seven year old fraternal twins, daughter Hazel Patricia and son Phinnaeus “Finn” Walter; and 2-year-old son Henry Daniel Moder – in LA with family.

Kate Winslet, Anne Hathaway, Juliette Binoche and Clive Owen have endorsed specific Lancôme products, but Roberts is Lancôme’s first spokesmodel for the entire brand.

To shave or not to shave?

0118_monique_legs.jpg

Mo’Nique bared it all last night showing a little leg, well a little leg and a lot of hair. So in this new decade are we evolved enough to say right on, shaving is a woman’s choice or does it still give you the creeps?  Living in Oregon a very granola girl friendly state unshaven armpits and legs are not out of the norm but something about hairy legs in great shoes and a fancy dress just throws me off.  What do you think?

Behind the Scenes at Josh Holloway’s Sexy Cool Water Shoot

Josh Holloway is venturing into modeling again, stepping in front of the camera for the second time for Davidoff Cool Water cologne for the scent’s newest campaign. The ads will feature the 40-year-old star looking tanned, buff, brooding and shirtless with the sea as a backdrop — just like his character Sawyer on Lost.

“I am very honored to represent Davidoff Cool Water again for this new campaign. Cool Water represents power, masculinity and freshness. That’s what the ocean is to me. The power of Cool is back!” says Holloway in a statement. The Hawaii resident and extreme-sports fan continues, “I love Cool Water because it is simple, powerful and timeless. To me, the Cool Water man is not someone who is trying to be cool, he is someone who is comfortable with his masculinity.” The campaign was shot by famed fashion photographer Mikael Jansson on the luscious beaches of Hawaii, with the ads breaking this week.
