Victoria Beckham: “Fashion stole my smile!”

Victoria Beckham was Glamour Magazine’s guest editor for their September issue, dubbed the “Fashion Issue”. As a result, the designer was featured on the cover!

Victoria opened up about everything from ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ to whether or not she’s going to have any more children.

On guest editing: “It’s been exciting for me to see my ideas come to life, from type colors to photo selection to casting. I even made my own list of Glamour fashion Don’ts to keep out of the issue: boat shoes (unless of course you’re designer Alber Elbaz or on a boat!), Bermuda shorts, nose rings, Crocs, and American tan tights (that’s nude pantyhose to you).”

Why she never smiles: “Do you know, I don’t know?! I actually used to smile a lot in pictures. I think I only stopped smiling when I got into fashion. [Laughs.] Fashion stole my smile! I’ve created this person. And I’m not saying that’s not me, but I wouldn’t say that’s the whole me…. It’s an armor that goes up.”

She loves 50 Shades of Grey: “I’m halfway through the second one. I even bought my mum the book! But every time she tries to engage in conversation about it, I kind of dodge the subject. I don’t really want to talk to my mother about S&M.”

On having Becks in her runway audience: It was the first time! He’s always been working or training. But I was nervous about this show. I was feeling a lot of pressure. He phoned me the night before, and I just said, ‘I want you to come be with me. I want a cuddle. I really do.’ And it was great to have him there. I think he was surprised; I don’t usually bother him with much detail. And then you get there, and the models, the hair, the makeup…I think he was blown away!”

On her future & family: “I’d like everybody to be healthy and happy. I’d like to be growing the business at a steady pace, and to be making more women feel empowered, beautiful, and confident. And I’d never say never about another baby. It’s a juggling act–a career, family, a husband who’s busy. But I’d never say never!”

I think Victoria looks really beautiful in these pictures!

Katy Perry lands the August cover of Elle, looking fabulous!

This month, pop superstar Katy Perry shines on the cover of ELLE. In the September issue, the singer opens up about the possibility of a second marriage, living her life with integrity, and where she sees her career going when her “candy queen” days are through.

On relationships and marriage:
“I obviously have a lot to say right now…I’m a woman who likes to be courted – strongly. Never say never, I guess you’d say. I’ll let love take the lead on that.”

On her career:
“I love what I do, and when I don’t love what I do, I’ll make a change…I can’t be the candy queen forever.”

On being a role model:
“I have no regrets…I’m not going to be everything to everyone. I can’t tell a person when it’s time for them to have sex. Or if they should have a cigarette…But I try to live my life with a lot of integrity, and, hopefully, that sends a message.”

Oprah Winfrey shows off her real hair for the first time!

For the first time ever, Oprah is gracing the cover of her magazine, O, with her hair in it’s natural state. In September’s “Makeover Issue”, Winfrey opens up in her column, “What I Know For Sure”, about her hair and the major role it plays in the expression of “self”.

Winfrey writes that wearing her hair naturally – as she often does on weekends and on vacation – makes her feel unencumbered and that she once wanted to just cut it all off. “I wanted to wear it close-cropped a la Camille Cosby but her husband Bill convinced me otherwise. ‘Don’t do it,’ he said. ‘You’ve got the wrong head shape and you’ll disappoint yourself.’ I took his advice.” Although, never one to shy away from a style update, Winfrey is a firm believer that changing your hairstyle can change what we see and feel is possible. “I even notice a change in my dogs when they get their summer cuts: they’re friskier and livelier, feeling more themselves once the weight of the hair is released.”

After all of makeovers that she’s done in the magazine and on TV, Oprah stands firm that the only makeovers that are maintained are “those in which something inside the receiver clicks, aligning with that which is being received. The only way to real transformation is through the mind.”

What do you think about Oprah’s hair?

Miranda Kerr’s Vogue cover: Good or Bad?

I found Miranda Kerr’s new cover of Turkey’s Vogue, and my immediate thought was ‘meh, she’s looked better’. Huffington Post took it a bit further, and really went off on how bad she looks. What do you think? Is it really that bad?

On a scale from one to never, how often does Miranda Kerr look bad?

Yet we may have found one rare moment where the Aussie model appears less than perfect. (It’s probably because of the strange angle and odd lighting, but still.) Kerr posed for the August 2012 issue of Vogue Turkey, sporting dramatic wide-legged pants and a deeply cut top on the cover.

Lensed by Sofia & Mauro, the cover shot is one of Miranda’s odder ones: instead of admiring her lovely face, we’re given a perfect view straight up her nose. Her linebacker shoulders aren’t helping the matter.

It’s not our least favorite Miranda cover — that honor goes to her Haute Muse coverfrom December 2011 — but we generally prefer when we can see the model’s face… not just the underside of her chin.
