Katie Holmes lands the April cover of Elle UK

Katie Holmes lands the April cover of Elle UK, and inside the magazine she opens up about her six-year-old daughter, Suri, living in New York and much more.

She admits that Suri’s upbringing is much different than her own, which was spent on the western end of Lake Erie in her native Toledo. “Children are exposed to so much more than we were, I suppose every generation goes through that feeling, “Oh my God, it’s so different from how I grew up,’” she said. “I think the basics are very important: the number one thing is making sure my child feels loved. And good about herself. And that what she does and who she is, is special and important, and should be celebrated. And my mum always said, ‘No one loves you like your mother.’”

Katie, who gave birth to Suri in 2006 when she was married to Tom Cruise, admits that motherhood has changed how she views women. “I think all of our experiences bring us to a greater understanding of ourselves and help us realise what is most important. That being said, I have three older sisters and one older brother and I went to an all-girls school, and have always been a fan of women. I support women and all experiences give you more insight into others, as well as yourself.”

Winona Ryder stuns in Red Magazine!

winona-red-1

Winona Ryder covers the March issue of Red Magazine, and she looks more beautiful than ever! She looks beyond gorgeous in all three pictures. The photo of her in the black dress (after the jump) is stunning.

In the interview the 42-year-old talks about aging, and how she’s “psyched to get older.” I’m not psyched to get older, maybe she’s a bigger person than me. Maybe money helps. She also talks about being thrifty, and attending the Oscars in a $10 dress.

The 80s: “The 1980s was the era of the blonde cheerleader. The description of my character in the first few movies I did was always ‘nerdy,’ but I liked that, it was way more interesting.”

Aging: “[Native Americans] have this incredible respect for their elders — it’s like the older you get, the more awesome you are. I’m hesitant to say this because I don’t want to knock anybody who’s done it, but the whole thing with plastic surgery…When you’re around people who celebrate age and respect every line for telling a story, it’s beautiful. I wish there was more of a celebration of getting older. When I do magazine shoots, people always say, ‘Oh, she doesn’t age,’ but I have the best make-up people and photographers. I don’t look like that every day.”

Helen Mirren is her landlord: “She and Taylor Hackford have this mansion and I rent a little cottage in the back. If I’m having a problem with the house, she’ll come up and fix it. She is everything you would hope she’d be: wonderful, warm and funny. I had to tell her I love Prime Suspect so much that, for 10 years, I stayed in hotels under the name DCI Jane Tennison.”

She’s thrifty: “Most of my wardrobe is vintage and I’ve worn dresses to the Oscars that I got for $10. At Sean Penn’s last Haiti gala I wore this vintage dress that I’d worn to a film premiere in 2005. I know that’s kind of a no-no in the fashion world, but why wear something just once if you love it?”

She’s glad to be out of her 30s: “I went through stuff that I probably should have gone through much younger, but I had spent my twenties working. Even when I was the right age for older roles, people thought of me as being younger. It was tough because I’d had so much success in my early twenties.”
