The Ultimate Self-Tanner Guide!

Hopefully everyone will be putting on sunblock this summer, rather than tanning oils. With all of the warnings about the sun, and the damage it can cause your skin, being tan comes at a price! Why put your health on the line for a little tan?

Have you tried many self-tanners? I’ve tried a couple, and I’m usually not a fan. It’s hard to get a natural looking tan from a bottle. But the awesome staff at Glamour Magazine tried most of the self-tanners out there, and they’ve come up with a list of 9 products that actually work!

Guerlain Terracotta Huile du Voyageur Nourishing Dry Oil SPF 8 For a dewy beach-ready look, slick on this tinted, gold-flecked body oil over your usual SPF lotion before you head outside. At $60 a pop, it may be pricey, but one bottle will last you from June to August.

Nivea Sun-Kissed Beautiful Legs This little $10 bottle is one genius beauty multitasker: It tans you up in days and smooths legs fast.

L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze Luminous Bronzer Lotion Planning a staycation this season? Try this slightly shimmery lotion—which should be applied daily to build a subtle, natural color—for an I-summer-in-Saint-Tropez kind of glow. ($11, ulta.com)

Jergens Natural Glow Foaming Daily Moisturizer Afraid of making a mess in your bathroom? Try a drip-free mousse product like Jergens Natural Glow Foaming Daily Moisturizer for an even, pretty base. ($8, at drugstores)

Clinique Self Sun Body Tinted Lotion For an extra-sexy tan, slather on Clinique Self Sun Body Tinted Lotion. It glimmers, in a good way. ($20, bloomingdales.com)

Fusion Beauty GlowFusion Face and Body Natural Protein Tan This beauty-insider favorite has developed a cult following for its subtle scent and gently bronzed finish. ($58, sephora.com)

Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Golden Perfection Self-Tanning Milk for Body Need to get a goddess glow in a flash? Estée Lauder’s miracle-working Self-Tanning Milk starts to show color in an hour. ($27, bloomingdales.com)

Lancôme’s Flash Bronzer Airbrush For an easy transition into skimpy summer tops and dresses, spritz on Lancôme’s Flash Bronzer. It’s easy to mist on and leaves a totally streakless, natural color. ($28, lancome.com)

Victoria’s Secret Bare Bronze Shimmering Body Oil While the gorge Victoria’s Secret swimsuit models may have been blessed with good genes, it’s this light oil that gives their skin that silky, drool-worthy sheen. Apply this shimmering lotion to give your bod a slight bronze tint—and prepare for the “Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?” pickup lines to roll right in. ($24, victoriassecret.com)

How Jessica Simpson lost 3 dress sizes in four months!

When Jessica Simpson arrived at the Operation Smile gala in a curve-hugging gown from Carolina Herrera, onlookers immediately noted her newly svelte shape. “She looked really fit!” an eyewitness at the May 6 event tells In Touch. The star’s fluctuating weight has been heavily scrutinized over the years, but thanks to her new trainer, Danny Musico, Jessica is finally back in control. “She’s getting leaner and told me she went down three dress sizes,” Musico — who also trains Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Bieber and even Jessica’s dad, Joe Simpson — tells In Touch. “She’s pushing herself to new levels,” explains the former professional boxer. Jessica burns calories through High Definition Training, which combines boxing, cardio and weights. “She’ll run for three minutes as fast as she can, then rest for 30 seconds, then box for three minutes and so on,” says Musico. “It’s a 60-minute, interval-based workout.” Jessica tells In Touch her favorite part is punching. “It gets a lot of aggression out!” she says.

Though they try to meet about four times a week, Musico reveals Jessica’s biggest challenge is her busy schedule. “With her clothing line and getting ready for another season of The Price of Beauty, it’s hard to find the time,” Musico — spokesperson for The Solution supplements — explains. “But when she’s at the gym, she always gives 100 percent.”

The Kardashian Sisters Launch Kardashian Glamour Tan!

As if launching their own jewelry line, upcoming skincare line, designing a clothing line with BCBG, being the spokeswoman for a cupcake company and diet pill company weren’t enough… the Kardashian sisters have launched Kardashian Glamour Tan! I googled “Kardashian Products” and I swear, they’re branding just about everything right now! How/where do they find the time!! Khloe Kardashian made the following announcement on her website today:

Hi dolls. I have some FABULOUS news!!!!!! Today, Kim, Kourtney and I launched Kardashian Glamour Tan! WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO.  We’re all absolutely thrilled about it and it’s been killing me because I was so excited to share the news with all of you but had to wait until today. It’s now available in all Sephora stores nationwide, and it’s the best tanning product I’ve ever used. I’m really obsessive about my skin — I always load on the sunscreen and then reapply constantly. But let’s be honest people, anyone who says they don’t love a good tan is clearly lying LOL.Well with Glamour Tan I can keep a healthy glow without worrying about the unhealthy effects of the sun. It’s also odorless so you won’t be walking around smelling like a tanning salon haha.

This is really exciting for me and my sisters and we sincerely hope you’ll give Glamour Tan a shot. I can’t wait to hear what you all think of it!!!! It will be available online May 19.

Give Sunburned Skin a Soothing Treat With the Things You Eat!

Too much fun in the hot summer sun and feeling the burn? Quick relief can be found at home in all the darnest places! Try these cost-effective, fast-acting, at-home skin soothing recipes from Celebrity Esthetician, Scott-Vincent Borba…

The Milky Way. Achieve instant, head-to-toe relief by simply taking a milk bath. Milk contains essential fats that create a temporary barrier on the skin and soothe pain. Fill the tub with cool water and add one gallon of Milk (rich in Vitamin D) plus two Alka-Seltzer tablets. The carbonation will immediately work to calm down any skin irritation. Slowly add in 12-24 ice cubes, allowing your body to acclimate to the cool temperature.

Feeling The Burn (in a bad way?) Chill out with a skin smoothie! Yogurt contains different types of fat that create a temporary protective barrier on the skin and soothe pain. Fill a large ziplock bag with yogurt and freeze it for at least thirty minutes. Remove the bag from the freezer and puncture the front and back with a fork. Then, wrap a towel around the bag and set it on the sunburned area.

One cool dip. Sour cream contains fatty ingredients that work to alleviate the pain and redness that comes with sunburn. The cooling sensation from the cream can last longer than aloe vera. Slather a dollop of sour cream on the burnt skin and cover with an ice cold wash cloth. Repeat until any stinging or burning sensations dissipate.

Feeling fried? Starch found in potatoes can offer an immediate relief from overly sun-kissed skin. Take two large potatoes, chop them and toss them into a blender. Add a tablespoon of honey to give the mixture adhesive qualities. Puree the ingredients and place them on sensitive areas of skin, you should feel instant relief. You can also use green granny apples instead of potatoes, this popular fruit contains high anti-inflammatory agents that work to reduce the redness in sun burned skin.

Thanks Corey

Get naked for $20! Intrigued?

Expose yourself to new and easy ways to live a greener lifestyle for the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. It’s simple, just start by stripping…….your life of packaging with LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics. Over 70% of LUSH products are “naked” (that’s lingo for unpackaged), solid and preservative-free, which is better for you and the environment. We saved more than 21 tons of plastic in 2009!

To celebrate Earth Day, LUSH will be launching a Naked Kit ($20). True to its title, this limited edition kit will house six of LUSH’s most popular solid, unpackaged and preservative-free offerings in a biodegradable box. Take a sneak peek at what’s inside…

•Mini Squeaky Green Shampoo Bar – this shampoo, which lasts 60 washes, will revitalize and stimulate the scalp. Consider this: if the entire population of North America used a solid shampoo bar (equivalent to three 8 oz. bottles), then it would save 122 million plastic bottles from being produced and ending up in the landfill.

•Mini Buffy Body Butter – LUSH’s Body Butters are one-of-a-kind. Packed with natural butters to moisturize, and sand to exfoliate, this bar will save time, money, and the planet.

•Mini Therapy Massage Bar – soothe your body and your conscience with this 100% certified organic massage bar, a true LUSH invention made with natural oils and absolutely no preservatives.

•Sexy Peel Soap – with uplifting lemon and lime, this soap (along with all of LUSH soaps) is made with a palm-free base. A first of its kind, this revolutionary soap base has saved 133,000 pounds of palm oil from being produced, helping to save rainforests, indigenous people and orangutans in Southeast Asia.

•Choice of Toner Tab – steam your face with these LUSH inventions. Choose from: T-Tree (oily skin), Vitamin C (aging skin), Vitamin E (all skin types), and Q10 (skin soothing).

•Cleanser: Fresh Farmacy or Coalface – LUSH uses the finest ingredients when creating our solid face cleansers. Choose from: Fresh Farmacy (for troublesome skin) or Coalface (for oily skin).

To further increase LUSH’s eco-friendly initiatives, we are eliminating in-store gift wrap service and introducing Knot Wrap ($6.95). This Furoshiki-inspired technique uses scarves (made from recyclable materials or organic fabrics) to wrap your products in a way that is kinder to the Earth.

The Naked Kit might be limited edition (launching April 5th), but our solid goodies and bottled products (which are made from 100% post-consumer recycled packaging) are available all year round. And don’t forget to Knot Wrap them – the Earth will thank you
