Did you get any of the Missoni for Target Collection?

Did you get your hands on any of the hot Missoni collection? I was in Target at 8:30am and they had already sold out of most items except for a few glasses and scarves. I saw  people with carts piled high with Missoni that I am guessing they are planning to resell.

Bummed the items I wanted were already all gone and the Target website has been down all morning due to heavy traffic. I am sure Target Execs are doing the happy dance this will be an early Black Friday for sales, just hoping the release more items for the rest of us!

Did you get anything?  Does it frustrate you when all the items are sold out early to people buying them strictly to resell? Come join the discussion

Do you agree? New study shows Hot Fellow Shoppers Make You Less Likely To Buy.

Hot Fellow Shoppers Make You Less Likely To Buy.

New research shows that when you feel unhappy about your body while trying on an outfit in a store and you see a hot customer or salesperson wearing that same outfit, you are definitely less likely to buy it.

ScienceDaily (our go-to site, of course) reported on the new study, published in the Journal of Consumer Research. The authors of the paper write:

“If [the low self-esteem customer] sees a dress on an attractive consumer in the store and is trying on the same dress herself, as she looks in the mirror she now thinks to herself, ‘That dress is really cute and stylish on me, but compared to her, I look terrible!'”
Makes perfect sense to us. When we try on a pair of jeans that only sorta, kinda fit us and we see a super cute girl waltz out of the dressing room with wearing the same jeans to perfection… yes, we will definitely hang that denim back on the rack.

Does the same thing apply to sales clerks, who are essentially hired to look good in the clothes? The authors of the study say “yes,” questioning whether it’s even a smart idea to have to salespeople wear the store brand clothes– especially, we’d add, in a place like Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch where the sales kids are basically swimsuit models.

Then again, the study highlights, the findings only apply when shoppers have low self-esteem to begin with. If you love your body and feel great in it, seeing a lithe 15-year-old salesgirl in a size zero version of the dress you’re trying on won’t be so bad.

So what an easy fix — just have great self-esteem!

Or, you know, do what we do and go shoe shopping. You can never feel fat in a good pair of shoes.

What do you think does shopping with “hot” friends slow you down? Does a beautiful sales clerk make you want to slink out of the store? I would love to hear your thoughts come join the discussion.

Rockin’ the Red With Makeup to Match‏

ROCKIN’ THE RED
Make-up to Match Your Ginger Color

We all know the saying, “Blondes have more fun.” Well, a new phrase is taking over: “Reds are more rad.” Going red is a bold and daring move and with these six steps from celebrity makeup artist Amy Hollier of Luxe Beauty Team at Serge Normant at John Frieda Salon, you can rock the red with the perfect make-up to match your vixen look.

Step 1: Prime Eyelids

To start, use a light brown or copper cream shadow (I used Mac paint pot in “Groundwork”) on eyelids and buff out with a fluffy eye shadow brush so nothing is in the crease.

Step 2: Eye shadow

Apply copper/gold shadow to inner half of eyelids closest to the tear ducts. Then apply a bronze/brown shadow to outer half of eyelids. Blend the crease with a clean, fluffy brush.

Step 3: Eyeliner

For a more fashion/editorial look, opt for a dramatic cat eyeliner but in a plummy brown rather than black. It’s much more wearable and accents red hair perfectly. Start by lining the lashline, then building the outer corners and extending out and up at the end of the lashline. Check eye to eye for balance. I used Bobbi Browns “Black Plum Ink” gel eyeliner with a pointed liner brush.

Step 4: Eyelashes

Curl, curl and curl. Then apply black mascara to top and bottom lashes. Finish with 2 or 3 individual flares of false lashes on each outer corner.

Step 5: Gorgeous Skin

Wipe away any fallen eye shadow and moisturize entire face. Next apply a sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer (I used Mac Face & Body).

Next apply a little glow to the temples and cheekbones with a liquid or cream bronzer (I used Makeup Forever Uplight#23). Lightly dust the center of the face with translucent powder to set. Add a little soft peachy blush to cheeks (I love Smashbox soft lights tint).

Step 6: Lips

Finish the look with a tinted lip balm. I chose the Clinique Chubby Stick in “Whole Lotta Honey” for it’s beautiful golden nude color.

Are Gap’s new “skinny” mannequins too extreme?

The web is a buzz today with photos of the new “Always Skinny” mannequins being displayed in Gap’s stores in London and the US. The extreme tiny legs are even more offset by their over sized chests. The mannequins measurements are said to be a16 inch waist and a thigh circumference of 4 inches.

Do you think this is setting a bad example and too much pressure on women and girls? Would this change your mind about shopping at Gap?
