The search is over.

I have really curly hair so of course my favorite look is flat iron straight. I have tried different many flat  irons over the years but it was so much work to get my hair completely straight I would only attempt once every few months. I had the chance to check out the Amika Ceramic Styler and love is an understatement. This iron is so great and easy to use I went from using a flat iron 3-4 times a year to 2-3 times a week. I love how easy it is to use and my hair gets salon straight in half the time.

Amika has a great holiday collection out for 2011 with lots of fun designs and sizes to fit to everyone.

My favorite Holiday recipe.

I love Fall and everything about it the crisp air, colorful leaves, chilly sunny days and most of all the holidays. I have always loved big family meals and just hanging out with my family. With times as hard as they have been in this country the last few years more than ever I appreciate my family and their support. While our holidays may be more simple its the time together and tradition that makes them so special.

If you are a baker we have entered the big event! Most of  my favorite recipes are my Holiday ones. I was asked to share a special family recipe and I picked my most favorite of all, Nanaimo bars! My family is from Canada and growing up I remember both of my grandmas making Nanaimo bars at the holidays and they were always the first to be gobbled up. I have been perfecting my own recipe for my family and wanted to share it with you. If you have a favorite treat you want to share with us, you could win a $200 to Walmart just in time for holiday shopping!

Share your favorite treat and you will be entered to win a $200 Walmart gift card.

Post Trick-or-Treating Dental Tips‏

Photo: mandaloo, Flickr

I vowed to be strong this year, I wouldn’t give in to my sweet tooth. Unfortunately the call of mini Twix, and snickers was too much to ignore. If you have been enjoying all the sugary Halloween treats as well here are some tips to keep your dentist from ever knowing.

Trick-or-treating is fun but that much sugar can be scary for your teeth. Check out Dr. Singh, funder and CEO of Arch Dental’s five tips for enjoying your Halloween treats!

1. Choose candy that melts quickly and can be eaten easily.

2. Have a glass of water after eating candy to wash away the sugar and neutralize the acid.

3. Avoid grazing on candy; it increases the time sugars are in contact with tooth enamel.

4. Have a treat with or after a meal, followed by a thorough tooth-brushing .

5. Time is of the essence when it comes to teeth and sugar. If not removed by brushing, or swishing with water, sugar from any source can increase the likelihood of cavities.
