I love Fall and everything about it the crisp air, colorful leaves, chilly sunny days and most of all the holidays. I have always loved big family meals and just hanging out with my family. With times as hard as they have been in this country the last few years more than ever I appreciate my family and their support. While our holidays may be more simple its the time together and tradition that makes them so special.
If you are a baker we have entered the big event! Most of my favorite recipes are my Holiday ones. I was asked to share a special family recipe and I picked my most favorite of all, Nanaimo bars! My family is from Canada and growing up I remember both of my grandmas making Nanaimo bars at the holidays and they were always the first to be gobbled up. I have been perfecting my own recipe for my family and wanted to share it with you. If you have a favorite treat you want to share with us, you could win a $200 to Walmart just in time for holiday shopping!

I vowed to be strong this year, I wouldn’t give in to my sweet tooth. Unfortunately the call of mini Twix, and snickers was too much to ignore. If you have been enjoying all the sugary Halloween treats as well here are some tips to keep your dentist from ever knowing.
Trick-or-treating is fun but that much sugar can be scary for your teeth. Check out Dr. Singh, funder and CEO of Arch Dental’s five tips for enjoying your Halloween treats!
1. Choose candy that melts quickly and can be eaten easily.
2. Have a glass of water after eating candy to wash away the sugar and neutralize the acid.
3. Avoid grazing on candy; it increases the time sugars are in contact with tooth enamel.
4. Have a treat with or after a meal, followed by a thorough tooth-brushing .
5. Time is of the essence when it comes to teeth and sugar. If not removed by brushing, or swishing with water, sugar from any source can increase the likelihood of cavities.
Who has the time to paint nails anymore?
I love to paint my nails, but typically it takes a good hour or so to completely dry. That’s hard to pull off anymore, with such a busy schedule!
On my last trip to Sally’s I noticed these two products, and I decided to give them a try. They’re $7.99 each – but the bottles are TWICE the normal size, so it’s well worth it.
Not to mention they WORK! The basecoat, Nail Life’s Gripper, is an EXCELLENT base coat. It literally grips the nail polish so it doesn’t chip easily! I can go a whole week without a single chip! (Do you have any idea what an accomplishment this is?)
Nail Life Gripper Basecoat is a sticky adhesive base coat that holds polish to nail from underneath. Keeps polish on!
- Makes a smooth base on nail for the perfect manicure
- Dries fast to a tacky base
- Polish won’t chip
- Hold-on polish
I then applied two coats of Zoya’s gorgeous Petra nail polish. I followed my polish with quite possibly the perfect top coat, Nail Life Speed Demon. It has my nails completely dry in about 2 minutes. Seriously.
Nail Life Speed Demon Polish Dryer is a chip-proof top coat that protects polish from fading.
- Gives polish a high gloss finish
- Protects polish from fading
- Chip-proof top coat
- All-in-one applicator
You gotta give them a try! You won’t be sorry!

Kim Kardashian played the villainess at a Midori-sponsored party at New York club Lavo on Saturday night, she sported a green bodysuit and red wig as Batman bad girl Poison Ivy. Kim’s husband of nine weeks, pro basketball player Kris Humphries was not in attendance .
The story on Saturday:
“I’m going to Australia tomorrow so I’m in New York alone tonight,” the reality mogul, 31, told PEOPLE, brushing off rumors of trouble in her marriage.
“Something I really prepared Kris for [was] to let him know that no matter what we do, there’s going to be rumors,” she said. “It used to really upset me and now I don’t even think about it.”
The story today:
“I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision,” she says in a statement to E!, which airs her reality shows. “I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”
Kardashian, 31, cited “irreconcilable differences” in her Los Angeles Superior Court filing on Monday, saying the couple have a prenuptial agreement and asking the court to deny spousal support to Humphries.
