Be Unapologetically Strong!

Degree Women® Clinical Protection with motionSENSE™ in NEW Cotton Fresh. The Degree motionSENSE line is awesome, it works to keep you dry and odor free all day long. I love that it kicks in as you get active making sure you can be confident no matter what your day entails.

Are you Unapologettically Strong? That is something I am still working on to this day. In some areas (my kids, my family) challenge me and you will find a strength that will not quit. But I also tend to apologize for myself and let things slide to keep the peace. As I get older I realize that is not always the best option, it’s better to be strong and face things head on.

Luckily I have an amazing mother and girlfriends who are all Unapologettically Strong. My friends know what they want and aren’t afraid to ask for it. I love watching them handle different challenges and see their strength shine through. As mothers, entrepreneurs, daughters and wives I have learned so much from them. They have helped push me to challenge myself and do things  I didn’t think was possible.

My mother has always been Unapollegetically Strong, raising 4 wild kids, even homeschooling us all for a few years. I don’t remember her complaining just always taking care of everyone around her. She was always the first with  a hug, band aid or medicine before you knew you needed it she was there. Even at 35 there are times only my mom will do to chase away my pain and fears. As a mother myself I know understand how much time my mom sacrificed for our family and the strength it took to raise a family and be there for each one of us. I couldn’t ask for a better role model and hope my kids can look back on me with half the gratitude I feel for my mom.

Check out the video of sports broadcaster Erin Andrews. I think it’s a great example of a strong woman pushing past boundaries. Erin is a new spokesperson promoting Degree Women® Clinical Protection with motionSENSE™ because women are strong, and strong women sweat.

InStyle: How to create a Boho side braid.

The side-braid—as seen here on Zoe Saldana and Blake Lively—is one of the easiest hairstyle trends to ever hit the red carpet. But in spite of its simplicity (who doesn’t know how to braid?), we still get countless questions about how to get it right. That is, not too loose, skinny, or schoolgirl-ish. Click through our gallery to master the boho side-braid, once and for all.

The Basic Tips
• Start with dry hair that is completely knot-free.
• Create a deep side part with your fingers—not a comb. This is important to facilitate a more undone look and help you stay away from anything too severe.
• Pull all of your hair over one shoulder and braid to the side. If you can create a French braid, like Rachel McAdams, do! If not, no worries. A simple plait still works.
• Fasten with a clear elastic, and leave out wispy pieces to frame the face.

My braids fall out during the day.
Solution: Fact: Braids last longer in dirty hair. The natural oils give twists something to adhere to. If your hair gets too greasy, douse your roots with dry shampoo like Dove’s (available in March, $4; drugstores) and you’ll be good to go.

Today’s polish: ‘Stratford’ by Nails Inc

Today’s polish is a bit different for me! It’s a “Mirror Metallic” polish by Nails Inc, called “Stratford”. I really like it! It’s hard to tell in this picture, but it actually changes colors when you move it. Looks almost mauve sometimes. Love it!!

Get The Look: Gretchen Mol at the Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Premiere

Makeup Artist Daniel Martin gave actress Gretchen Mol a new romantic look for the Season 3 Premiere of her show, Boardwalk Empire. Daniel wanted to keep her makeup subtle and classic focusing on the lips. Combined with her upswept hair, Gretchen’s final look was a “modern Downton Abbey lady.”
