Rosie O’Donnell has just revealed that she underwent weight loss surgery last year after suffering a heart attack.

The comedian, 51, made the announcement at an American Heart Association event on Friday. Fox 2 news reporter Roop Raj tweeted her announcement, and then Rosie retweeted it.

The mother-of-five suffered a heart attack in August of 2012, in which 99 percent of her LAD artery was blocked; she wrote that her particular type of heart attack has been nicknamed the “Widow Maker” because it is very often lethal, and that she was lucky to have survived it. She later told People that the episode taught her “to take care” of herself and prompted her to lose weight.

Good for her for getting help! How scary!

Glad to hear Rosie is doing better, I seriously miss her days when she was on ‘The View,’ also loved her daytime talk show back in the day!

Scary that is happened to her. Weight loss surgery sometimes works but it is a slippery slope and you have to watch not to slide back.
