Roots-Saver…in a pinch!

greybegone

I have tried a couple different roots-saver products, some work, some not so much. Some are a bit greasy, some the color is just really, really off. I tend to not like the ones that are more like paint…it’s just…weird.

I am crazy grey. Like I am way greyer than I should be for 36. I blame life. I want to go back to being a kid, just saying.

Anyway, I have grey hair…that’s just how it is. I have to touch up my roots every 6-8 weeks or so which isn’t usually a big deal….until sometimes I get to week 9 or 10 and I look downright scary.

Last night was my 14th wedding anniversary (thankyouverymuch), and I had a nice dinner out planned for my husband and I. I did my hair all fancy-like, looked in the mirror, and realized HOT DAMN I had a lot of grey!

I have a little trick – and maybe you all do the same thing – but humor me. The best roots-saver products I’ve ever tried has been EYESHADOW. Years ago I picked a brown color that matched my hair – and I use it for my roots only (and it lasts FOREVER). I have a wide eyeshadow brush that I only use for this – and when I’m in a pinch, I apply brown eyeshadow to my roots. It grabs on to the greys like magic, and stays put all night! It’s not greasy, and leaves your hair looking like it’s been freshly dyed!

The pictures above are of me, from last night, before and after applying the brown eyeshadow. I know there are several companies that market a powder for roots, but it costs more than a cheap eyeshadow would. So if you’re in a pinch – use eyeshadow (you probably already have a color that matches your hair)! I’ve been doing it for years, and it works!

Here’s what I use, but you could probably get away with ANY brand…
