Celebrity Weddings: Musical Marriages

Celebrity weddings; there’s a reason why magazines pay the big bucks to gain exclusive coverage to these events. Everything from the wedding breakfast menu to the bride’s choice of dress can provide an incredible insight into the kind of relationship the couple have.

Nothing quite captures the style of the couple more than the choice of song for the first dance. Whether you’re an A-lister or just an everyday member of society, everyone will assume that your wedding song represents your relationship, so it’s important to pick one that reflects you both as a couple!

It’s one of the most memorable parts of the entire day, so choosing can be tricky. You could check out some of the choices made by the celebs for inspiration if you’re grasping at straws for your own wedding.

‘At Last’ by Etta James is one of the most popular first dance songs across a whole spectrum of celebrities. Everyone from Gene Simmons & Shannon Tweed, to Chelsea Clinton & Marc Mezvinsky has chosen this romantic classic, meaning it’s going to be a sure-fire hit.

If you’re looking for a little more up market inspiration, take a lead out of Kate Middleton & Prince William’s book with ‘Your Song’ by Elton John. Likewise, other wealthy inspiration can come from Mark Zuckerberg & Priscilla Chan who had ‘Last Night on Earth’ by Green Day as their first dance number.

There are some songs you may was to skip if the length of marriage is anything to go for. ‘City by the Bay’ by Journey was the song of choice of Britney Spears & Kevin Federline, while Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries ironically chose ‘Let’s Stay Together’ by Al Green.

Some celebs actually chose to use their own songs as their first dance. Paul McCartney & Nancy Shevell danced to ‘My Valentine’ sang by the groom, while Beyoncé & Jay Z boogied to ‘Crazy in Love’ which was the pair’s first collaboration.

I saw a video posted on the Diamond Manufacturers Facebook page of Tom Fletcher, who turned a number of McFly songs into a wedding speech for a heart-warming and tear inducing thank you to his family, friends, and wife. It could’ve been cheesy, but luckily it was possibly one of the best speeches I’ve ever seen!

Diamond Manufacturers are actually a great company to check out if you’re still looking for inspiration. They recently recommended a list of 50 first dance songs that offered a great range of classic, traditional, and alternative pieces that is great to suit everyone and help you choose the perfect one.
