Tip #1: “Before spending a day in the sun, slick hair back with a leave-in conditioner that contains SPF. This will protect the hair while intensely nourishing it.”
Tip #2: “Products with low pH levels- between 4.5 and 5.5- are safe for your hair color. Anything with a higher pH will strip your color.”
Tip #3: “If you’re a blonde and don’t have time or money to visit the salon every 4-6 weeks, use Clairol Professional Shimmer Lights Shampoo and Conditioner. These products are great for preventing brassy tones and maintaining vibrancy in even the palest of blondes.” (Clairol Professional Shimmer Lights, $8.99, clairolpro.com)
Tip #4: “A big trend we’re seeing this summer is dipped ends in fun, bright colors. If your ends are already light and you want to add a pop of pink, blue, etc., dip them in a semi-permanent color like Clairol Professional Jazzing for a bright hue without the damage.” (Clairol Professional Jazzing, $5.99, clairolpro.com)
Tip #5: “Shampoo less or try a dry shampoo to keep your color looking radiant for longer!”
Tip #6: “To maintain bright blonde locks during the summer, anticipate the effects of sun, saltwater and chlorine on your hair. Consider getting a gloss treatment post-color service for a protective shell. This gloss will be first the first layer to wear down, which will keep your hue intact for longer.”
Tip #7: “To protect your hair color from pool and salt water damage, rinse your hair immediately after getting out of the water.”
Tip #8: “One of my favorite products to protect radiant color and to enhance your hair’s health is a color safe leave-in conditioner. What works for you may not work for your best friend, but there is a great color safe product out there for everyone with color treated hair.”
