Parenting three young children is one of the greatest joys of my life, but it can, at times, also been the greatest challenge. You learn on the fly in parenting and one of the most important things is how to simplify your daily routine. Here are a few of my stress relieving tips that help me make it through the week.
Prep The Night Before: I set up the kids outfits, breakfast, and vitamins the night before so getting out the door is a snap. When I am cleaning up after dinner I throw together my daughters school lunch.
Chore Chart: We have a chore chart on the fridge with the kids daily tasks so they can see what they need to do and check it off as they go. Chores can be age appropriate, something as simple as a preschooler picking up their toys and going to bed on time.
Ask For Help: Don’t be afraid to ask your friends and loved ones for help when you need it. Whether it be advice or just a chance to grocery shop without your whole crew in tow. Trading babysitting and small favors between friends can really lessen the load.
Family Calendar: You can’t remember everything. Make lists and use your calendar! It helps keep both parents in the loop and will reduce over-scheduling.
Find Your Happy Place: Even with planning life can still feel overwhelming at times. Find that place that makes you happy and find ways to schedule in regular visits. My happy place? The beach. I can go just look out at the ocean and the daily stress of life seems worlds away. My kids love the coast too, and its become a special place for my whole family.
